Golfer Reviews
Course conditions…
The greens are great while the fairways are sandy in almost all area of all holes. They have a sign posted saying drought, for about 15 extra per person and about 20 minutes away I highly recommend going to vidante in puerto Peñasco.
Not worth it at any price
MAKE SURE YOU LOOK AT THE PICS!
We come down every year during January and February and play all three courses in the area. This used to be our favorite course. We would usually play it 20 times or more. Unfortunately, due to water problems, the course has deteriorated into a dirt pile that has become unplayable. The other two courses in this area are in excellent shape.
In addition to that, we use Golf now on all three of the courses in the area. We never get charged any extra fees above and beyond what we pay Golf now, when it is los Palomas they always make sure to add an additional fee. A week before we had gone to management and negotiated a price for around that was equitable, considering the conditions, but when we returned for our teatime, they would not honor that. It’s the old Mexican two-step. Please look at the pics to get an idea of what the courses like.
All dirt fairways
Too bad but last year and this year there is a severe water shortage so all the fairways are literally dirt. Mosttee boxed and most greens are ok. We have always loved this course but the playing conditions have become ridiculous. I did not take pics but If you saw what it looks like you would probably pass.
Fairways beyond dead.
I have loved this course for years. They had a water shortage, then many many more issues. A lot of the fairways don’t even have dead grass. Sand. So it will be many months before this is playable for quality golf.
Course conditions
The greens were in great shape however the fairways were a mess.
Fairways in poor condition
Nice course; greens are nice, but fairways are under repair.
Great course for the money. Have some repairs to do to the course
Looks like they might have been hit hard by the hurricane that went through there a while ago. Greens were awesome, tee boxes were well maintained but the fairways were in very rough shape. Most of the grass is dead and it was very muddy. Hard to get a good lie anywhere. I think the drainage isn’t very good and they suffered from the rains.
Nice layout, greens ok to good,
First thing I noticed coming to this course was the brown grass throughout the fairways. Turns out somebody watered with salt water. At least that’s what I was told. That did not ruin the day though, the greens were in pretty good shape, medium speed, and not too bumpy. The layout is interesting and longish, we played from blues, and even with a good tee shot there were some challenging second and third shots. It was my first time here, but I would play it again as it was a reasonable price for golf in Mexico
Painful round
5 hour round in the heat and no shade to be found. No sign of a course Marshall to speed up drunks that take five practice swings. Fairways were all dead due to no watering yet they still charged same price.
Okay.
It’s in the dunes of the Mexican desert… so you have to be realistic. Published price is $75 a round. I would have been disappointed if I had payed that full price, but finding it on Golf Now for $40 provided good value for the condition of the course. Links layout was nice. A couple of goofy mounded greens with ridiculous pins but overall a nice layout. The conditions of the greens was the real issue. My son and I played Plinko on a couple of them… we did enjoy ourselves and playing on a Monday, the course was empty. I’d come back and play again when in Rocky Point, but the price has to be right to feel good about the conditions you are going to play. Cheers.
Bring your own grass
I feel bad about this review but it's an honest one. I. Sure the severe drought is why the fairways are void of almost all the grass. They are doing all they can to keep the greens in good shape. They were pretty good, very slow probably keeping them healthier that way. The course has a great lay out, well priced on Golfnow. Just need cooler weather and water.
Fun layout, terrible maintenance
The tees and greens were decent, but the fairways were completely dead. On top of the poor conditions, the course charges an additional fee on top of the golf now pricing for ‘taxes’ when are get to the course.
If you’re in rocky point, play Islas Del Mar for a far superior course.
Great Golf
I really liked the layout of the course but the fairways were very dry, maybe the time of the year. The greens and tee boxes were awsome.
Chuckawalla
Good course. Could have been better if the greens keepers knew what they were doing when cutting fairways. Very uneven lies due to way course is mowed. Shame since grass is in great condition. Greens were impeccable.
Great Course.
Great Course! Greens and fairways were pristine. Staff were friendly. Beer cart service was lacking. Pretty surprising for a resort. But highly recommend this course.
