The Golf Club at Dove Mountain - Tortolita/Wild Burro
About
The desert foothills of the Tortolita Mountain Range provide the stunning backdrop for the three nines designed by Jack Nicklaus at The Golf Club at Dove Mountain. They are played in three different 18-hole combinations, one of them being Tortolita/Wild Burro. The Tortolita nine serves as the back nine for the PGA Tour's Accenture Match Play Championship, but Nicklaus considers Wild Burro to be the best of the three. Playing through canyons and desert washes, the golf course features dramatic elevation changes and stunning views. Tortolita's third hole has the highest elevation at the club while the ninth hole on Wild Burro is the longest finishing hole of any of the nines. The intricately contoured greens and strategic fairway bunkering provide a challenge for even experienced golfers.

#3 on Saguaro Photo submitted by timstaley on 10/25/2012
Half of the 18 holes was cart path only and was not advertised. Speed of play was exceptional. The course is in great shape.
Great Layout, Superb Condition
If your willing to pay a premium for golf this is a wonderful layout (particularly the Saguaro/Tortilita 9's). Absolute pristine conditioned course in a beautiful setting. (Not a home in sight) Fast, undulating greens. Tough approach shots. Plays longer than the scorecard yardage, so make sure you choose the right tees. Must really think your way around. Don't expect to shoot your handicap, just enjoy a great outing.
Best overall
You expect the best and ... get it !
Top conditions, fast greens, excellent layout. We played fast, nobody around either on Tortelita or Wild Burro. Saguaro was close for maintenance.
It is a difficult course, hard to get to the greens in regulation. Greens with lots of undulations, 3 putts are to be expected. Choose your tee boxes carefully, can be a monster even from mid tees
A very enjoyable day, best course we played around Tucson. Not that the others are not excellent (Starr Pass, Vistoso, Arizona National, Sewailo) but Dove one notch above for everything, including very nice bunkers. We visited a few !!
A must for every golfer
Good timing on the weather
Very ritzy course
Weather was cool (65f) which was good because nobody was golfing we pretty much had the course to our selves
Just love desert courses and the boeas are spectacular highly recommend
Scenic 5 Star Course
Wonderful, scenic course! Need to avoiid multiple bunkers on each hole. Stay on the grass, as, not many places to play from the desert. Undulating fast greens. Challenging, bur fair. Pace of play was outstanding!.Would play again.
Disappointed
I play here every year on my week in Az as it WAS my favorite course. I brought my Aunt and Uncle down to play here for a special treat.
The bag drop guys were great, but the staff in the pro shop seemed like they could care less that you were there.
The course conditions were the worst l have ever seen here. Seems like since the Accenture match play left the course has gone down hill.
We played 18 in under 4 hours as it wasn't too busy... shocking... not really.
We tried to play another 9 but they wanted $45 each! We said thanks but no thanks. We were also going to buy some merchandise but decided against that... they missed out on more of our money but they didn't care...
I will play another course next time. They won't care if l ever come back though either it seems...
There are other courses that will gladly take your $$$.
Spectacular course
Kodak moment on every hole, you have to keep it on the fairway as the first cut of rough is long and hard to find your balls
Great
Great course, conditions were perfect and staff was very good. I'll be back.
one of the best courses I have played, very challenging
No help
Nobody showed. After paying a big dollar at the pro shop, carried my clubs down. Went to the range and hit bout 5 balls. None left, everyone complaining there are no balls. Practised putting for 15 minutes with no starter. And just teed off. For the $ you pay for this caliber of course, expected much better!
Immaculate
Dove Mountain is in primo condition. The pro shop staff is very accommodating and I can’t wait to get back.
Great course. Wish there was a course marshall.
Staff - from pro shop to club house were friendly and professional. The setting was fantastic and the course played well for coming out of overseeding. There was a clear problem with pace of play and no action was taken to get everyone behind them back on track. This and a two some of golfers behind us with blaring heavy metal music really took a toll on our enjoyment of the course. We planned our tee time to have dinner while watching the sunset and between the slow pace of play and a closed kitchen it didn’t have a chance of happening.
Incontournable
Dont miss suis course Probable tué n'est course of Tucson.
Super layout--very hard with green complexes that are meant for professionals
Admittedly a hard course, but the pace of play was super slow again . Not the first time, either. No ranger the whole time, as seems to be normal now. No question that the customer service has declined substantially under new ownership from when the Accenture was held here.
Desert Jack at its best
Dove Mountain is typical of Nicklaus’s desert courses but these 27 holes are on steroids from the two back tees. Great to experience what the big boys did when the WGC Match Play was held here. A must-play desert course.
