About
Gillette Ridge Golf Club in Bloomfield, just outside of Hartford, is an Arnold Palmer Signature course. It is one of the toughest rounds in all of New England. The course sprawls across a beautiful landscape covered with natural wetlands and forests of towering maples, oaks, and elm trees. There are strategically placed bunkers in addition to the natural challenges but they are not excessive. The wetlands come into play on almost half of the holes at Gillette Ridge Golf Club. The approaches to the greens are seemingly intimidating but as long as you don't hit short there is always bailout area on one side. Since each hole presents a unique challenge, there is not just one signature hole, but one of the most memorable holes is the par-5 second, a true risk-reward test that requires both length and accuracy.

Bunkers
Course was in good shape. I know we've had a lot of rain here in connecticut this summer but the bunkers were in rough shape. Short on sand and not maintaining. Rest of the course was in pretty good shape tho.
More Customer Friendly
Course was in decent shape. Many sand traps had standing water in them due to recent rains. The most annoying part is that they don't allow you to take your cart into the parking lot to get your clubs. Every other course in the area this is not an issue. Major inconvenience.
Great course layout
Friendly staff especially Jonny Baker who's a great guy. The course is incredible
Fun Layout
Good , fair layout. Greens were soft but a bit slow due to resent aerification. Blues are long at over 6500. Blue / White mix might be easier but a bit short at 6000. Well worth playing.
Outstanding
I wish I discovered this course sooner. The conditions were excellent and the course layout was challenging yet fair. Excellent practice facilities too. Got a great deal from golf now, and will be back.
Always a good time
Greens were soft and receptive. Fairways were decent . Not many dead spots. Pace of play was amazing. Played this course many times and never been disappointed
Need to hit the back nine!
Really enjoyed the front nine, though cart-path only with wet conditions made it a bit of a slog. Recently aerated greens took control of most putts. Even with those downsides, it was a good introduction to the course which I'd like to finish (rained out on back). Interesting layout, tricky approaches, and lots of undulations on greens. A decent challenge!
Excellent layout
This course has beautifully layout, some tough holes but fair and very picturesque.
It took me 4 1/2 hours to play 18 holes. I played with three others on the front 9 and they left so I played the back nine by myself. I was stuck between foursomes and couldn’t jump ahead. I realize I was by myself on the back nine but the pace all day was way too slow. Too many beginners out today.

Best public course in Connecticut but extremely challenging!
Slipped since last time!
Greens were spiked about 4 days ago, no notification on the booking site, Very bumpy, shaggy, and not cut that day.
Fairways were in rough shape. Many dried out areas, particularly where it seemed the grass was cut too short. Many bald spots needed fall reseeding.

I have seen this course in better shape. Several bare areas on the fairways. Greens just aerated ( which l know needs to be done)
