About
Gillette Ridge Golf Club in Bloomfield, just outside of Hartford, is an Arnold Palmer Signature course. It is one of the toughest rounds in all of New England. The course sprawls across a beautiful landscape covered with natural wetlands and forests of towering maples, oaks, and elm trees. There are strategically placed bunkers in addition to the natural challenges but they are not excessive. The wetlands come into play on almost half of the holes at Gillette Ridge Golf Club. The approaches to the greens are seemingly intimidating but as long as you don't hit short there is always bailout area on one side. Since each hole presents a unique challenge, there is not just one signature hole, but one of the most memorable holes is the par-5 second, a true risk-reward test that requires both length and accuracy.

Road trip
We were visiting from NJ and found this course. Nice layout in great shape. Good pace of play, friendly staff. Greens were recently aerated for an upcoming junior tournament but that has to be done from time to time. I would definitely recommend this course.

Tough lay out
Dares you to hit driver. Nice greens. Rolling nice. Fairways cut nice. And 44 dollars for 18 and a cart. Great value all around. Will be back
Best value
One of the most challenging courses around. Absolutely offers the best deals of any courses in the state. Friendly staff and good restaurant. Can’t go wrong.
Green speed
Overall, this is a excellent and challenging course. I just wish that green speed faster.
Beautiful Challage
The course is a gem with a beautiful and challenging layout. The way the course traverses through the woods and trails is relaxing, with ample space between tee boxes to enjoy the scenery. I was fortunate to be paired with three fantastic players that added to the enjoyment of the round. The only shortcoming is that the bunkers needed some love, with the sand being hardpan, making green-side bunker play a little unpredictable. But it's early in the season here in New England, so I look forward to playing the course again as it gets in top form. If you're looking for a golf outing treat, play this course. The staff is incredible, friendly, and helpful from the bag drop to the pro shop.
Course is beaten up
The course overall condition went down hill since I last played it last year. It’s a fun but difficult course. Players have not fixed divots or ball marks. I realize this time of season it’s not as plush, but it is ripped up. It was still fun.
Bunkers
The course itself was in great shape
I have not played this course in few years and I was over happy with the course except the bunkers.
The bunkers are bad they are slightly improved from years past but still hard as can be. You know it’s bad when you hit a rock out of the bunker that gets closer to the hole than your ball.
Otherwise no complaints I’ll just have to play better next time and stay off the beach
Always a pleasure playing the course! Some very interesting holes! Has to be played a few times to get comfortable. Greens were in great shape and are very large with some interesting contours. Pretty fast for this time of year. Also I love the run off areas around the greens. Cut low enough to allow putting from way off the green. Only problem I had was that I was a single and got held up a few times.
