Wildhorse Golf Club of Robson Ranch - South/West Course
About
The Wildhorse Golf Club is the first of three planned courses for the Robson Ranch Community outside of Denton. Designed by architect Gary Stephenson, the course opened the second nine in October 2002.
The signature hole is on the front, a 566-yard par 5 that requires a monster drive followed by two demanding approach shots.
Getting there : From Dallas take I-35 to Denton and look for the 35 W split. This takes you back towards the south to Fort Worth for 6 miles, where you’ll take the Robson Ranch exit. Drive 1.5 miles west and look for the course.

EXCELLENT COURSE/BAD WEATHER
We played on a cold day with cart path only due to extreme rain over the past few weeks. Course was in great shape, even with some extremely wet areas. Greens were true and fast. Staff was friendly and helpful. Some very challenging holes and undulating terrain.
Do not hit it in the rough
The rough is about 2-3 inches deep and super thick. Very easy to lose your golf ball and hard to get a club on the ball from the rough. The greens are very nice and fast. Challenging course due to the thick heavy rough. Makes club selection on this course a key to shooting a low round.
Always great
We always enjoy playing this facility. Course is in great shape. greens are fast and perfect condition.
As good as it gets right now
Played here for the first time in a year or so. Wow! For August in DFW, course was in fantastic shape. Perfect greens, good bunkers, thick grass on fairways, nicely mowed tees, and well-kept rough. Members here also do a great job of repairing divots and ball marks. It was hot, but we played in about 3:30 and moved after every shot. It helps that we played pretty well, too. Just a great course, worth the drive from anywhere in the Metroplex. Great bunkering shows shot lines. We took a hot deal, and at $38+tax, it was a great deal. Wish it were a bit closer, but I love going to Robson Ranch. Only 4 years till I can live there :)
Countryside Gem
360 views of the Texas countryside. Not overly busy, friendly staff. Relaxed atmosphere. I drove about 25 miles to play here and I think I'll be returning annually if not more. Good course, not a hard course, but a good challenge and you'll feel good about playing here afterward.
Amazing course!
I was very pleased with this course. One of the best places I’ve played at in the DFW metroplex. Greens were very well kept even with this blistering Texas heat. The rest of the course was also in great shape. All the staff was very friendly as well. I would definitely play here again!
Very Slow
This course has always been fairly slow play but this time it took 5 hrs... for two of us. Very frustrating.
Great course
Great course - well manicured, lots of tee boxes to accommodate better and lesser experienced golfers
Probably the most architecturally sound course in DFW
Played this course during a work scramble and all I can say is wow. This course, architecturally, is a real delight. The greens are lightning quick which places a premium on not only avoiding the short side but makes taking on pins when you’re on the wrong side of the fairway dang near impossible. Whenever the flag is up front you MUST run the ball in if you want to be within 30 feet of the flag.
When the pin is in the back you need to flight in some lower shots that hop-skip-stop to be near the pin. Landing pin high to a back flag results in an immediate ejection off the back of the green. If you take on the hazard from the tee (whether water, bunker or fescue) you’re rewarded with a shorter distance, great angle or an uphill approach shot that makes stopping the ball much easier. If you shy away from the hazard and take the bailout (which the layout gives you every hole) then do not expect to have an easy second shot.
Birdies require two good shots while pars are easy-ish to make. Bogey comes into play when you try to make birdie and don’t execute. Absolutely textbook architecture.
Very friendly staff.
Very nice and challenging course. Staff was excellent and top notch.
Nice Course
1. Check in was easy and friendly
2. Range was great and the price was good.
3. Didn’t care for the way the starter made me get in another cart and double up. He was pretty rude about it and it was an unnecessary hassle.
4. Course has just been aerated and it is really rough...will be through June.
5. Beverage girls were friendly and professional.
Overall, it was a mostly enjoyable round. The course is challenging and nice. I look forward to another round here in the future.
Enjoy Playing Here
Course was in great condition. Weather was HOT with a nice southerly breeze.
Great track
Never played here before which is crazy, if you care about conditions this place is plush and the truest test of putting I've had in quite sometime. Something special about this place, I'll be back for sure. Hopefully next time won't be a 6 hour round.
Great course and facility
Worth the drive! Top notch facility and course layout. Semi private but as a guest I was treated as a regular. Course is in great shape. Definitely worth the drive from DFW.
The greens were SLOOOOOWWWW!
Great course, well maintained and the staff was awesome! However the greens were very slow! If you had an uphill put you were doomed. I couldn’t find the pace or the read on any of them. In my opinion they need to be trimmed down a bit.
Other than that, the course was great and offered a challenging but fun round! If the greens would have been better and more consistent it would have been a perfect experience!
Great course
Fairly short and tight with some challenging shots and approaches. Starter did a great job getting us off before a big group.
Solid course, but old farts should eat some humble pie
The greens are ridiculously slow right now because of punched greens. Love the course. This is a retirement community, so there are several older people who play regularly. They take it upon themselves to govern the course, which is a good thing and bad thing at times. There are "environmental" protection areas throughout the course that is nothing more than marsh with weeds. There is nothing special about it. Although I respect the area, but when you casually walk thru the area and an old man takes his time to come tell you that he'll call the golf shop to have you removed if he sees you walk on it, that is not a polite way to ask someone not to step in the area. Furthermore, it is not illegal to walk in the area. Its illegal to hit a ball in the area. No balls were even attempted to be hit. So these older guys need to be a little more respectful to the people they share the course with. They played on our butts all 18 holes, despite not having anyone behind them and us having two groups ahead of us. Enjoy!
First time playing here
Course was in good condition considering the time of year. Greens were in good shape, but slower than they looked.
