good friends, good weather, great course, good time
1 hour drive to the best course from Houston
Every time I make this short trip from Houston to Lake Jackson I’m never disappointed. The greens have to be the biggest in a 50 mile radius from Houston. The speeds of the greens are always above 12. If you don’t know then these are PGA tour green speeds. Crazy fast. Plus a great tee boxes for all levels of play. Great place to play.
Have seen it in better condition
Nice course. Greens and fairways had more imperfections than ive seen here before. Cruised through front 9 no problem, but players were obviously being allowed to go off the back and somewhat randomly playing holes so back nine took an hour longer and marshal did nothing but take receipts and allow the lack of order.
Hidden Jewel
The wilderness Golf Course is a must play!
If you enjoy the outdoors and the game of golf I highly recommend playing this course. I generally play the golf courses surrounding the Clear Lake area and this track is above and beyond any layout offered here. Well worth the seventy minute drive. Friendly staff including the starter, nice range to warm up. Greens were true and running about a10/11 stimp. Green side sand bunkers are very well maintained and protect the large greens nicely which requires a thoughtful approach shot.
Great golf course !
Best Course
This is the best course in the Houston area by far. Great practice facilities and the course is always in great shape. A great course for golfers of all levels.
Exceptional Golf Course
The Wilderness is a hidden treasure in the Houston area. If you are willing to venture south of the city, you will not find a better golfing experience. It is a great course and when I played on New Year's Day, it was in excellent condition.
First Time
Staff was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. Liked the layout of the course. Greens in good shape also!

I was surprised there's this beautiful course within 50 mins. drive from Sugarland TX. Wonderful staff with great course layout.
Worth the drive
The name of the course was very intriguing and was all that and more! I will definitely be planning another trip to play there again.
Great value!
Perfect day for golf. Staff was friendly. Course is in really nice shape. There was a 5 some that my twosome caught at #4, and had to wait til the turn to play thru. Sadly, I can’t use that as an excuse for hitting the 1st 4 greens in regulation and walking away with 4 bogeys. But still finished in less than 4 hours. An enjoyable day. I’ll be back!
Saturday at The Wilderness
Great day at the course. Course in fair shape after recent aeration of the greens. Weather was close to perfect!
Great course
Really enjoyed the round at The Wilderness. Enjoyed the golf course layout and the friendliness of the staff. Well kept course. The greens were punctured for airification but it was known before getting the tee time.
I took the Golf Daycatiion and played 36.
For sure I will be back!
Course in great shape
Hard to find public courses in this good of shape in the middle of summer. Greens are fast and well maintained, fairways and teeboxes in great shape.
