Houston National Golf Club

It's clear that this layout was once a great venue. Unfortunately - fairways were overtaken with weeds and hundreds of sandy, non-grassy blemishes. Very sad. Clearly - this course needs new ownership with a commitment to restoring and maintaining this great layout to its potential. Not worth playing for any amount of money. For the record - this is my first time ever writing a review - that's how bad this was.

Course was in rough shape and pace of play was 5 hours. No marshall to keep play on pace. Won’t go back.

Pace on back was terrible-was going to be 3 hrs+ to play back but that’s unacceptable..so we left as did the group behind us.. How about sending a ranger out?

Teed off at 11…front was slow, 2hours, but it took almost hour to play 10-12..we left. Not into a 3 hour back nine..no ranger —upon leaving we came across problem..4 some that was over 2 holes behind—again, no ranger..group behind us left as well..

So Houston, you’re going to allow one slow group ruin it for several other groups???

Greens nice but the rest of course is beat up! More weeds and dirt than grass. Would be a tough track if the conditions were improved.

Great course and in pretty good shape. Not the best value but still very good.

Awesome layout. The course was surprisingly not in good shape. There were LOTS of dirt patches everywhere. All the recent rain hours, shocked.

I loved the layout, very challenging. The conditions weren't great...fairways in need of some weed and feed. The greens were a tad fast, but in good shape. I'd play it again, but hope they give some care to the non-members course.

Greens were in good condition. Fairways & bunkers can use some TLC. Pace of play was slow. A Marshall / starter would go a long way to help this.

Make sure you warm up before playing this course. There are not to many flat shots in a round. The course design is very challenging. Take your time and enjoy your round.

Delayed start time to let rain pass, rain intensified and the course would not allow a rain check. Told me to contact golfnow. Golfnow website didn't offer any links or help on the phone. Wasted money.

I will definitely be going back here again. Great course layout and great amenities. Highly recommend.

If you research the course their online presence is great. However the course you see is not the course you will play. Their members course is the beautiful course you see online. Very disappointing to show up and realize you have been tricked into paying decent money to play a terrible course. Please play somewhere else.

Pace of play was really good. Practice range is really nice, range balls are a little expensive. The front 9 is not that hard. The back 9 is a little more challenging. Unless you find this on a good price I would not book( normal price is like $74) I got it for $50. The course is in really good shape and has nice greens. I would recommend playing this course.

Houston national is the public one - Sterling g is private. They do a good job of maintaining the course. However the fairways need at a minimum, mowing. Otherwise it’s a wonderful track. Enjoy and remember to take care of the course.

Today was a good day for golf. Only lost one ball,the course was not as good as it's been,the fairways had chunk patches of grass everywhere and they needed to mow , the greens were just ok they rolled true made two birds.i will go back i and think they gave the mowers the day off.
