About
Houston National Golf Club, located in the northwestern part of the city, definitely follows the old adage that "everything is bigger in Texas." This whopping course stretches to 7,337 yards from the back tees. It is a lengthy golf course no doubt, but it doesn't just favor those who can hit long. The layout has a unique links design, so long hitters will be pleased but they will have to be careful of the numerous pot bunkers and other strategically placed hazards waiting treacherously throughout. The golf course has an interesting character that sets it apart from others nearby thanks to a landscape of rolling hills and hardly any trees, a surprise since there is no shortage of trees in the area. Houston National Golf Club's wide-open links design also subjects golfers to the strong prevailing winds, making several of the holes especially tricky.

First time playing def not the last!
One of my new favorite courses, only problem it’s 300 miles from home! I played this course today and despite some intermittent rain during the first few holes played my best round ever. Great layout, forgiving but still a challenge with smaller greens and hidden bunkers. Staff was friendly, and the prices for food and bev were solid also!

Coming back
First time here, got a hot deal. Great layout, tough challenge from any tee, greens were in nice shape. Course is making a nice comeback from Texas drought with the helpful rain; still have some issues but show me a public course that doesn’t:
I’m always encouraged to see crew out sanding divots always tells me they care when i see that. Use your sand on carts to fill in a couple divots!
the food was awesome, recommend the Rachel. Good call by friendly staff, can’t wait to return .

Could be better
A good value for veterans/active duty from M-Th. I would not pay $70+ to play here on the weekends.
Course was average at best.

Nice course but due to the drought, there were various "dead" areas, greens were good.

Fun course has good layout 17,18 are challenging especially with 20 mph wind

Not as expected
Booked a tee time after looking at some of the reviews so I was expecting to play a great course. But boy was I wrong, definitely not worth the money.

Course conditions
Poorly maintained with very damage fairways. High price for what you get.

Rough and mounds bad shape. Good deal of rain will go a long way to helping course consitions
