About
Houston National Golf Club, located in the northwestern part of the city, definitely follows the old adage that "everything is bigger in Texas." This whopping course stretches to 7,337 yards from the back tees. It is a lengthy golf course no doubt, but it doesn't just favor those who can hit long. The layout has a unique links design, so long hitters will be pleased but they will have to be careful of the numerous pot bunkers and other strategically placed hazards waiting treacherously throughout. The golf course has an interesting character that sets it apart from others nearby thanks to a landscape of rolling hills and hardly any trees, a surprise since there is no shortage of trees in the area. Houston National Golf Club's wide-open links design also subjects golfers to the strong prevailing winds, making several of the holes especially tricky.

Fun course
Course was in good condition and had a lot of challenging features. Cart path only due to all the rain which slowed play a little. Overall it was a good course and I would play again.
The condition of a few greens was not up to par. Some bare spots in some of the fairways. Due probably to weather quite a few unplayable bunkers. Still my go to course in bad weather though.

Punched greens
Overall nice layout. Bunkers will need work, just about all were unplayable. Greens were just punched but in a couple weeks should roll well. Fairways and tee boxes in above average shape. Worth playing again.

Slightly let down
This is my second time plaything this course, and this time I was let down. The course was a bit beat up. Greens are currently aerated and covered in sand. With the rain the sand just clumped up on the ball and made putting very slow. Fairways were okay except for a couple flooded areas.
Can’t wait for the greens to get better.

Great course for the $65 at 11:30
Good course, can’t complain about the course at all. A few bare spots here and there and a dead patch on 2 greens, but that’s summer in Houston for a golf course. Nothing to really do about that, and any that were apparent were minimized. Worth the $65 if you’re a regular golfer. Rained out at 9, so I have to get ahold of GolfNow for the rain check, but that’s a golf now policy, not the course. Definitely will be back.

Great course
First time playing this course, I am by no means a pro. Just an average guy. It’s a great course of you can hit the “Long Ball” as well as the more technical players that excel at the short game. Will play again

Played here a lot over the years
First time I can say I was really disappointed. Had a 12:20 tee time, checked in 12 and couldn't even get a cart until 12:30. No marshalls out here to keep pace so we got to the par 3 7th and had 3 groups backed up and waiting.
The priority is definitely the Sterling side. Could be a top public course in Houston, maybe Texas, if the effort and money were there.

Guys in the pro shop super nice to begin with. That just set the tone for a really nice day 3 and 1/2 hour round for two players was phenomenal we will be back greens are in excellent condition.

Good Course
Interesting layout and fun to play. Greens were challenging and fairways were narrow and undulated. Too bad there was no marshal on patrol to speed up the pace!
Two guys were yelling when I was putting, which was annoying, but then, when I approached them for an explanation, they said “we were just messing with you guys. It’s not for slow play or anything “. Morons!

Recovered well
I golfed here after the snow storm and the course took a beating. There was a storm the night before I played and you would think the course would be wet but it was emaculate! The course recovered well and the greens rolled great!

Not even rain could make this one a bad round
Good facilites and very convenient all you can hit range balls for 5 dollars. Rain made its way through the course but good drainage kept the round going. Other than hole 12 no other hole had standing water will all the rainfall we have receive during the last week. Greens were firm but receptive and the pace was a tad fast but playable. Great experience will come back is the discounted tee time.is available again.
