About
Houston National Golf Club, located in the northwestern part of the city, definitely follows the old adage that "everything is bigger in Texas." This whopping course stretches to 7,337 yards from the back tees. It is a lengthy golf course no doubt, but it doesn't just favor those who can hit long. The layout has a unique links design, so long hitters will be pleased but they will have to be careful of the numerous pot bunkers and other strategically placed hazards waiting treacherously throughout. The golf course has an interesting character that sets it apart from others nearby thanks to a landscape of rolling hills and hardly any trees, a surprise since there is no shortage of trees in the area. Houston National Golf Club's wide-open links design also subjects golfers to the strong prevailing winds, making several of the holes especially tricky.

Will Play Again
This course was in great condition. Greens recently air raided an rolling good. Fairways have a nice turf and tee boxes are manicured. The layout is challenging making the use of multiple clubs and irons a thinking game. Will differently play again!

It was well worth the price.
The course has some very challenging holes. I was surprised by hole 17 layout and fairway challenges. I was a little disappointed with some inconsistency with way grass on fairways was cut. Very challenging bunkers and water throughout the course.

Below average
We were given the wrong score cards and all we got to the fourth or fifth hole we realized it was too late to turn back since we were in a time constraint. We left the course after the 5th hole

It’s hot out
The course is in good shape considering how hot it’s been. I noticed that they have taken out several water stations, this to me is an issue. Keeping hydrated during the heat is important.

Wasted money using golfnow

This course is bad now
It is very disappointed. Thats my second time playing here, a few yrs ago, it was ok, but today, i saw the course mismanaged,, Grasses are brown (no watering)here and there on every fareway and around the greens, grasses in rough look like dead. So many range balls on #1, ＃9 fareway, it is dangerous too when play in #1, and #9 while ppl practice in driving range. The design very poor, cart path cross street too many times, it is dangerous, and no path to #18 green, and #18 is not close to club house. The stairway to #6 green no repaired, can not walk up to the green when wet weather, i guess. No tree around the fareway layouts or along the residential line, ball easy to hit the house or in backyard or on street. The T box and green condition are good, but green is a little too fast today. It is over price too if with no coupon. It was flooded last two yrs, i thought it would be better after recovered, but worse.

Monday game
This course was being cored on the greens and fairways so its hard to rate it during maintenance like this.
I've played here many times and on a good day the course is good quality for the price and well maintained.
In winter the grass is very dormant and in my opinion they cut the fairways way too short.
Great to finally see they replaced the range astro turf, its very good to practice off now.
Sadly the pro shop staff are not very friendly at all. A couple of grunts here and there and maybe a hello if you engage first.
The bar staff are nice.

One hour to play 2 holes!!
I wish I could give this a better review, because I really like the track. I've always found the staff to be miserable, even the lady driving the beer cart.
But today, I actually walked off the course because of slow play: front 9 wasn't bad, though I was a single and the 4some in front of me refused to let me play through. On the back 9 two groups appeared out if nowhere, and after an hour playing two holes I gave up. No course marshal to be found.
I shared my experience with the gentleman in the pro shop who, no surprise, didn't really care.
So, I won't be back.

Unexpected rain
Before making the turn rain made play difficult. That said, I was able to continue due to the superior drainage. Most courses I would be taking a rain check.

Almost got shot by a home owner for getting my ball in his yard
There is no marshal to depict pace of play. We teed off at 10am and caught a group that started at 850 am. Course might be nice but completely mismanaged. Waste of time and money. I would not NEVER play this course again. There are better courses for you efforts. This is on top of a home opener threaten to shoot me over a ball in his yard, even though there is no trespassing sign insight.

First time track
Great value with lunch included. The course and experience has highs and lows. Super friendly staff, good practice range, nice greens but shabby/hard fairways. Challenging approach shots and chips but friendly fairways. The front 9 played in 2 hours but the back was headed over 2 1/2 hours so we skipped hole 18 which looked really interesting it’s worth a visit unless you are a course condition snob... the greens were really very nice though.
