Houston National Golf Club

This was the 2nd time for this NH Snowbird to play this great course.

The undulating, bermed fairways, the large number of bunkers, the swales and ravines, the generous amount of water, and the fast rolling greens present all the challenges any golfer needs for a great outing.

Looking forward to another round here sometime down the road.

Popcorn was top notch. Pace of play had issues, one twosome was kind enough to invite me to play through on #5. Next group offered on #6 but I could see another group ahead. So it was slow going through the turn with 5 minute waits through #12. Finally decided to skip 13 and 14 where I saw where the bottle neck was...that 2nd group ahead. Clear sailing after that. I was charged $41.65 which was indicated as my grand total, not the amount due at the course of $38.95. I chose not bring this to the cashier’s attention.

The layout is a bit confusing as there are many crossroads between holes. The last whole is extremely confused.

Friend and I played a round in about 3.5 hours today at Houston National. Course was nice and dry. Greens were in good shape ... fairway grass was coming out but short right now. Not much grass off the greens yet so chipping was a challenge. Courses in Houston have been very wet this year; this one seems to handle water better than most others. Good value for the money.

Very playable considering wet conditions for the past few days.

This course has lots of challenging holes and the greens are in great condition. I would recommend this course to anyone

Good dry course. Fun to play but challenging enough. Will play again for sure.

Fun course, open fairways with Ireland like features. Difficult approaches with elevated greens,. Satisfying to get a birdie putt. Play here and you’ll get better. Or quit golf.

This Is a nicely laid out links style course. There are some bare areas where grass will be needed to repair come spring. Over all fun to play when playing winter rules. You know lift, clean, place on some nearby grass, then proceed. National has very nice range and 19th hole. For the price of all you can play golf. Best deal around town if you have the energy. I would recommend to anyone who has not played it. I also recommend you bring extra balls.

Greens are in pretty good shape for the time of the year, fairways and tee boxes a little rough. Overall good conditions.

The staffs lack of a greeting or eye contact was a reminder of why we golf. We golf to take a brief departure from the chill of the world. And GC of Houston does not disappoint once you get beyond the frosty desk agents.

From the undulated first tee, to the serpantine bayou of the last, this course is a challenging but appropriate test.

The greens roll fast and true, and the fairways and traps are good enough for an enjoyable round.

This was my 3rd time playing the course in the span of a month and I must say this was my best experience by far, although my score does not reflect that (topic of discussion on another day). Weather was great and the course was in great condition after some light rain that made the cart paths wet, greens rolled true and provide a consistent test of putting - flagstick staying in on a few holes helped. The 3-some that i was paired with, made the round fun and enjoyable. Pro-shop staff and course marshals were very helpful and focused on trying to make sure everyone had a great time on the course. Will have to think about making this my home course in the Houston area.

One of the best winter condition, good greens & few bad fairway spots. Looking forward to go back..
