About
Houston National Golf Club, located in the northwestern part of the city, definitely follows the old adage that "everything is bigger in Texas." This whopping course stretches to 7,337 yards from the back tees. It is a lengthy golf course no doubt, but it doesn't just favor those who can hit long. The layout has a unique links design, so long hitters will be pleased but they will have to be careful of the numerous pot bunkers and other strategically placed hazards waiting treacherously throughout. The golf course has an interesting character that sets it apart from others nearby thanks to a landscape of rolling hills and hardly any trees, a surprise since there is no shortage of trees in the area. Houston National Golf Club's wide-open links design also subjects golfers to the strong prevailing winds, making several of the holes especially tricky.

My typical tee time. Twilight rates but plenty of time to finish this time of year. Greens are in remarkable shape. Fairways a bit soft from previous day rain. Good clubhouse with fresh popcorn and burgers with all the fixings, self serve.. TV both inside and out on the deck. Even better when peanut butter crackers are stocked.

Defcon 2
Always a pleasure to play HoNat. The course is in great shape. The greens looked like they had been verti cut recently but this did not affect the way putts rolled. If there was anything I would change, it would be the guys in the pro shop need could at least pretend to be happy and enthusiastic!

Good Round
Bought the All you Can play pass for May 25. Checking in was easy and everyone was very hospitable. Range Ball were available for warm up and open spots to hit on the public side. The course was in fairly good condition, the fairways had a free spots that were bare but overall they were very playable. The greens were very good, but also very fast. There were a few Tee Boxes that were in bad condition but it looks as if they are working to get them back in shape. We played 27 holes and enjoyed the day. Will definitely go back again.

Houston National
Played mid week in a foursome and played behind another foursome and was waiting on every shot. Greens had a lot of poana grass mixed in. Fairways were on the skinny side for grass. Price was ok for the round.

Links Style
I’ve always liked this course. Fairways are finally drying out after the early year rains, and it feels very “Open Championship-ish”. Plenty of roll, and lots of risk/reward.

Greens in good shape
Keep your ball in the fairway and you’ll be fine. Get off course you will find yourself in the moguls. Plenty of water that comes into play.

Fairways need some work
Played this course about 3 weeks ago and the greens needed some work, but this time the greens were in good shape. Fairways could use some work for the most part

Course needs help
Pace a play sucked!!
Course is very dry and needs water to bring it back to life. Several greens needed attention.
I hope things change there soon. Would like to play again, because I really like the layout!

Pace of play sucked and frustrated especially on back 9
Conditions were very dry and several greens needed help.
Either it needs to rain several inches or they need to water it a little more often.
Once I see other reviews state that. I will recommend it and come back!

April 14
Fairways were pretty dry and hard. Lot’s of run off drives. Greens were decent with some difficult pin placements. Pace was very good on front but could have used a marshall to help move some slower groups along. Not sure if a group was added? All in all a pretty good day of golf.

Challenging Course
This course is challenging for every skill level. Greens roll nice, would prefer them a little faster but overall it’s a good track to play.

Excellent greens, undulating fairways
Fun links-style course, with a number of elevated greens. Greens had been treating past week or so with sand, but still in very good shape, speed was awesome, and ran very true. Fairways still growing in and a little thin in areas. Very windy when we played but would definitely recommend, and look forward to playing again.
