Meadowbrook Farms Golf Club
About
Sculpted by Greg Norman out of the tall grassland prairies and rice fields west of Houston, Meadowbrook Farms is part of a planned 800-acre residential development headed by Landmark National. Norman's layout includes deep-faced sod bunkers, Lil Prong Creek, and a multitude of oaks, pecans, and sycamores that take the golfer toward greens that are extremely hard.
The lack of parallel holes allows for an open, natural setting that is perfect for golf, especially since Norman didn't favor much reshaping-instead, he used the natural topography of the former rice farm.
Holes of note on the front are the 160-yard No. 6 and the 420-yard No. 9, both accented by the tall native grasses. No. 9 involves wetlands in front of the green, which is tough considering the longish approach.
Several holes on the back can destroy your round, including the narrow, doglegging 395-yard No. 10. It's imperative to find the fairway on this one. And No. 15 is short (340 yards), but is loaded with bunkers that are difficult for the high-handicapped hack.
The best hole of the bunch is perhaps No. 18, a 545-yarder that involves a layup of a canal off the tee and two solid shots to reach the green in regulation.
All told, this one is worth the investment. The bag drop service is friendly and prompt, and the clubhouse offers affordable amenities, including a great little bar and grill.
Getting there : From Downtown Houston on I-10, drive west to Grand Parkway (Hwy. 99). Take Grand Parkway south to Fry Rd., then turn right. Take Fry Rd. west for approximately 1.3 miles, and the entrance is on the left.

Bad conditions
This course used to have good greens. 4 out of the front 9 are under repair. No more marshal during weekdays now so they just send people out as they show up. Got stuck behind multiple twosomes and singles so I quit after 2:35 hrs and 9 holes.
Great layout with great people. Struggling a bit with the greens of late but given a few weeks of sun it will be superb again. Would certainly recommend this course. A superb test from the tips in particular.
Worth checking out
Fun beautiful layout of golf. Keep it straight or you’ll lose some balls. The greens weren’t good but they were open about this when I booked my tee time. This is a great course and I would play again for sure. Once the greens are back to normal it’ll be perfect.
Good Layout
Greens were comically bad. However GolfNow gave a “warning” on green conditions. Bunker shot too were pretty poor for a course of this caliber. Decent value thanks to GolfNow however.
Rough Greens
Course was in pristine conditions with the exception of the greens....they were in bad shape. The fairways though have never been better. Once the greens get in better shape, the course will be 5 stars all the way around.
Greens are unplayable
Let me start by saying that the website says the greens have some damage and the pro was very friendly and told me that the greens on 1 & 2 were pretty bad but the rest were ok. Well, they were not and the bunkers are all being rebuilt, so they are basically unplayable. If they are going to be open for business, then the greens fee should not be over $35.
Terrible greens
Played here many many times but stopped because it’s overpriced. Came back for a round and the greens are the worst i’ve seen. First two are sand and unplayable. All 18 have poor greens. If they are going to charge $55 minimum for a round they need to first redo the greens completely. I’ve played many courses that are much nicer for half the price.
Terrible greens
It was junk because of the greens...patches of grass, bumping around and slow.
Elite Facilities
Greens on front 9 need work but great course. Elite practice facilities. Will be playing again!
First 9 greens need work
Meadowbrook Farms is a nice challenging layout but the front nine greens are in horrible shape. Greens are spotty, patchy, and no true roll. If you do play out here in the next two weeks I would suggest playin the back now twice. Greens roll true on the back
Greens are horrible
I enjoy the layout and the challenge of this course, but right now the greens are all in horrible condition! There's almost no grass at all on the front nine greens. I've never seen them this bad before. Save your money until they can get it figured out.
Greens on front are struggling, otherwise good
This is typically one of my top 5-ish Houston area tracks & took an out of town friend to play here on their first visit to TX. If I'd known the greens were lost on the front nine then we'd have played elsewhere. But the pace of play was excellent for a Saturday in Houston (right at 4 hours) and everything else about the course and facilities are satisfactory. If they can get the greens back it'll jump back up on my Houston area short-list.
MB Farms Friday early afternoon review
Friendly staff... considerate of cancellations that reduced our tee time group from 4 to 2 one hour before tee time.
Most fairways, bunkers, collars, etc are in decent shape considering the time of year and recent weather impacts. Front 9 in lesser overall condition than back 9. Greens on front 9 are in very poor condition, most greens on back 9 are decent and what you would expect for the season.
In summary, nothing new to golfers who have played here periodically season to season for reasons of convenience, location, available tee times during peak periods at other locations, etc. The other familiar sentiment that I'm reminded of at MB Farms is my willingness to pay $90.30 for $58 - $64 quality in the interest of convenience. I'll be back again, and looking forward to condition improvements representative of the monies charged, but ok knowing this continues to be a rinse and repeat experience... who's only attractions for me remain the location, most of the course layout and the availability of tee times despite the peak prices.
Greens are gone. Such a shame. Play Cinco for half the price
The greens are lost. Mostly rolled mud. Not worth it
What is going on with Meadowbrooks Greens
I cant understand how a course that was top on my list 5 years ago has gone down so much.
The greens are in the worst shape I have ever seen. They look like have been spray painted with dark green fertilizer to try to hide either a fungus or some kind of disease that is happening to their grass. I love the layout of the course, but lately sand traps have been unplayable, greens roll inconsistent from hole to hole due to this problem. Its a shame because the folks who work there are super nice.
Good course
Good course, a lot of the greens are a bit rough right now but still rolled ok. Fun layout and if you can get a deal time definitely worth the money.
