Meadowbrook Farms Golf Club
About
Sculpted by Greg Norman out of the tall grassland prairies and rice fields west of Houston, Meadowbrook Farms is part of a planned 800-acre residential development headed by Landmark National. Norman's layout includes deep-faced sod bunkers, Lil Prong Creek, and a multitude of oaks, pecans, and sycamores that take the golfer toward greens that are extremely hard.
The lack of parallel holes allows for an open, natural setting that is perfect for golf, especially since Norman didn't favor much reshaping-instead, he used the natural topography of the former rice farm.
Holes of note on the front are the 160-yard No. 6 and the 420-yard No. 9, both accented by the tall native grasses. No. 9 involves wetlands in front of the green, which is tough considering the longish approach.
Several holes on the back can destroy your round, including the narrow, doglegging 395-yard No. 10. It's imperative to find the fairway on this one. And No. 15 is short (340 yards), but is loaded with bunkers that are difficult for the high-handicapped hack.
The best hole of the bunch is perhaps No. 18, a 545-yarder that involves a layup of a canal off the tee and two solid shots to reach the green in regulation.
All told, this one is worth the investment. The bag drop service is friendly and prompt, and the clubhouse offers affordable amenities, including a great little bar and grill.
Getting there : From Downtown Houston on I-10, drive west to Grand Parkway (Hwy. 99). Take Grand Parkway south to Fry Rd., then turn right. Take Fry Rd. west for approximately 1.3 miles, and the entrance is on the left.

Good challenge
Greens were in nice shape. Course has some interesting doglegs to make you think about club selection. Will definitely play here again.
Course is in very good condition
Greg Norman design is always fun and challenge to play. Green is near perfect condition. I will certainly come back.
Good Golf Experience
I highly recommend this course...the staff, course layout and golf facilities were all very good.
Not a $75 weekend course
This course has a great layout and friendly staff, but the greens are just average and you can’t play out of the bunkers because of the huge rocks (or at least I’m not going to risk the integrity of my clubs to hit out of the bunkers on this course!). If they came down on the price I would consider playing this course more often, but it is far from a $75 course in my mind.
Great Sunday, rough challenging
I read a negative review on 4/20 but I think the person must have been playing somewhere else. For a public course, the pace of play was excellent as well as the greens and fairways.
I teed-off on a Sunday at 12:30 in perfect weather with a twosome behind a foursome. For a few holes we waited but then pace really picked up. We finished in 3:45 minutes.
The greens were were good and fairways excellent. If you miss, you are either in the trees or in some deep rough. If you hit into the rough, good luck finding your ball. The bunkers had plenty of sand but the brown packed type.
Meadowbrook is a little pricey but I thought it was worth it. The starters and staff were all friendly. Putting greens and chipping areas are good. For a medium price course, it was well worth it.
course condition is well below par
Tight lies everywhere and grass almost non existent in playable areas. Greens are very poor. This course used to be very well manicured, one of the best in houston. It is far from that at this moment.
All the golf you ever need!!!
A young man greeted us in the parking lot. Put our bags on the cart he drove out to us. A fine young man!! A golfers golf course! Course is in great shape for this time of the year! It will only get better as the temperature get warmer and the grass really starts to grow! The greens roll well. A different young man cleaned our clubs next to 18. A well trained 16 year old land I just know his parents are proud! Meadowbrook is a must do!!!! Enjoy!!!
Great Golf Course
Second time playing here. The course is great, not Wildcat or Blackhorse level, but close. It's far from my house, but one of my favorite place to play.
Great Course
This course is awesome. Beautiful layout. Challenging fairways. Great place to play
Really fun layout
First of all, the bad news. The course is not in "television" shape....but OK....the tee boxes are fine but not perfect, and the same can be said for the greens. Some greens are fast, some are slow....but they roll true.
The good news....really a nice and fun layout. I played the Norman course at the resort in Leesburg, VA, and was not really impressed. This layout was much more interesting and fun to play. Staff was great!
HORRIBLE
My threesome arrived to the first tee at 12:25 for our 12:30 tee time only to get stuck behind a fivesome who’s tee time was 12:15(15 mins late) To make matters worse one of the players was the gentleman from the pro shop that checked me and my group in. When we asked the starter about the 5 some he said “they are members they can do that”. We sat behind the group on every shot the entire round and were never allowed to play through. I have worked for golf courses my entire life and would expect this from the members but not someone working for the course. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!! After the round I called the pro shop and explained what had happened bjt it didn’t seem like they really cared. I have played Meadowbrook at least 3 dozen times over the last couple years and I will NEVER return.
Best course in Katy
This is my favorite course in Katy. We need another course out towards 1463 to make Katy a true golf community.
Greens Need Work
I’ve played this course many times and was actually very happy to see the bunkers finally in good shape. The fairways were solid but man did the greens and tee boxes need some help. Coming out of winter I guess is the reason for the patchy spots but my biggest complaint is consistency. 1 green you put down hill and you tap it and it rolls 15 feet. The next downhill you literally have to put it like you were going slightly uphill. Breaks are difficult to read due to inconsistency. Not sure if I’m the only one who complains about this but it’s not horrible. There are much worse things.
Tee Boxes and Greens
The fairways are in decent shape. The greens have plenty of issues, appear to have over fertilized in plenty of places. The tee boxes are horrible, maybe 4 out 18 holes are okay, they are very bare.
Ok Course, lots of potential
This course has an excelent layout, but greens are below average
Love the fast greens, bunkers unplayable
Overall, the course is in good shape except that the bunkers are practically unplayable (hurricane Harvey impact?). Course layout and conditions are good. Love the super fast greens.
Marshalls need to relax
After being paired up with a group that was struggling. We ended up playing on our own as a twosome. The group struggling recommended this and we accepted as the pace was getting slow. The Marshall asked us why we did that and we explained it to him. And he made a big deal out of it. Saying that we would get log jam later on because the course is backed up and we never found that to be the case. he hassled us 3 times over this issue during the round and the group behind us that was struggling and ourselves we're better off by splitting up. This wasn't the 1st time the marshals have given us a hard time on this course. We play relatively fast pace and do not waste time on the course sowe don't take too kind to this from the Marshals
