Meadowbrook Farms Golf Club
About
Sculpted by Greg Norman out of the tall grassland prairies and rice fields west of Houston, Meadowbrook Farms is part of a planned 800-acre residential development headed by Landmark National. Norman's layout includes deep-faced sod bunkers, Lil Prong Creek, and a multitude of oaks, pecans, and sycamores that take the golfer toward greens that are extremely hard.
The lack of parallel holes allows for an open, natural setting that is perfect for golf, especially since Norman didn't favor much reshaping-instead, he used the natural topography of the former rice farm.
Holes of note on the front are the 160-yard No. 6 and the 420-yard No. 9, both accented by the tall native grasses. No. 9 involves wetlands in front of the green, which is tough considering the longish approach.
Several holes on the back can destroy your round, including the narrow, doglegging 395-yard No. 10. It's imperative to find the fairway on this one. And No. 15 is short (340 yards), but is loaded with bunkers that are difficult for the high-handicapped hack.
The best hole of the bunch is perhaps No. 18, a 545-yarder that involves a layup of a canal off the tee and two solid shots to reach the green in regulation.
All told, this one is worth the investment. The bag drop service is friendly and prompt, and the clubhouse offers affordable amenities, including a great little bar and grill.
Getting there : From Downtown Houston on I-10, drive west to Grand Parkway (Hwy. 99). Take Grand Parkway south to Fry Rd., then turn right. Take Fry Rd. west for approximately 1.3 miles, and the entrance is on the left.

Always a great experience at Meadowbrook when I get to Houston. Looking forward to playing again
Challenging course greens suck
Fun course. Very challenging. Reward for keeping it in the fairway. First but pretty thick and forget about second cut. Greens were fast and really beat up. But might just be due to the Houston hurricanes. Will def play here on my next Houston trip.
Relaxing pace
Good course if your not looking to feel rushed or have to wait on the group in front of you. We let a few groups play through and pace of play was great all day. Nothing bad to say about the course itself.
Not an enjoyable round
First time playing this course, found out that driving range was closed due recent rain, not big deal. But later during play encounter several bunkers that were flooded. For the price paid, and not being told by the staff how bad the golf course condition was, made my round a really bad experience. At least the staff should have the courtesy to let you know the condition of the course, and then it is up to the player whether to play or not. I guess that’s the reason it was very easy to book a late round, not many people playing.
rained out last 4
despite not being able to play last four holes due to heavy rain; loved playing the course. one of best in area. normally to expensive for me but with my golf now rewards i paid only 8.75. would love to play again in better weather
Friendly service
Enjoyed the friendliness of the staff. Course is challenging and fun.
Fastest greens around
The course was in great shape, the staff was friendly and the practice areas were good. The greens however were extremely fast, and almost never broke at all. So spend extra time at the putting area before your round.
Nice day for golf
Played yesterday from blue tees. Course was in good shape ... greens were fast but fair. Groups in front of us were slow and no marshal patrolling course made round a little longer than it should have been. Driving range was in good shape as well. Course layout is good. I am a high handicap player and there are only a handful of holes where out of bounds means you lost your ball. Overall a good day of golf.
Pace of play
This use to be my favorite course,I really enjoyed playing here until yesterday when I came upon a five some ahead of me and they did not waive me to play thru while I stood at the tee box on number 6 par 3 and watched all five scattered on green and two in bunkers ,so I proceeded to the next hole.just as I was teeing off I was interrupted by an excuse me you can’t jump in front of us by one of the five some ,I called the pro shop and they said five some has priority
Hidden gem
Greg Norman courses are always challenging. This one is no different. Course in great shape, greens were very quick. My recommendation is make sure you hit a few balls on range. Holes 1&2 are tight and require precise drives. Course was wide open, player in less than 3 hours, don’t know why it isn’t busier! Will be back!
Good Course - Sand Traps need work
Love this course. But my biggest complaint is the fact that the sand traps are practically unplayable. I hit a ball into a sand trap with a 3 wood and it bounced off a rock and out of the trap. (Lucky me ;) ) I refuse to hit shots out of the pits because I have already done so several times previously and was surprised to find quarter to dime size gravel after I struck my ball. This was prior to Hurricane Harvey.
All in all, I love the course. Play there at least once a month on average. The staff is friendly, the practice greens are in pretty good shape, and the course overall has a nice flow. Wish the greens were a touch faster.
Fair price (hot deal)
Course is in great shape, fairways are really good just a couple of greens needing some attention, overall good conditions. Worth the price but only if it's a hot deal
Great place to play
Post hurricane, 90 degrees was great. Range was closed however, so no full-swing warm up capabilities.
For the middle of August, course was in terrific shape
Fairways and greens were in great shape, the rough was thick and punishing. I love playing Meadowbrook Farms, the greens are great (very fast). Need accuracy to score well, getting into the second cut of rough is very punishing (as it should be). Overall, very challenging and fun to play.
