Sculpted by Greg Norman out of the tall grassland prairies and rice fields west of Houston, Meadowbrook Farms is part of a planned 800-acre residential development headed by Landmark National. Norman's layout includes deep-faced sod bunkers, Lil Prong Creek, and a multitude of oaks, pecans, and sycamores that take the golfer toward greens that are extremely hard.
The lack of parallel holes allows for an open, natural setting that is perfect for golf, especially since Norman didn't favor much reshaping-instead, he used the natural topography of the former rice farm.
Holes of note on the front are the 160-yard No. 6 and the 420-yard No. 9, both accented by the tall native grasses. No. 9 involves wetlands in front of the green, which is tough considering the longish approach.
Several holes on the back can destroy your round, including the narrow, doglegging 395-yard No. 10. It's imperative to find the fairway on this one. And No. 15 is short (340 yards), but is loaded with bunkers that are difficult for the high-handicapped hack.
The best hole of the bunch is perhaps No. 18, a 545-yarder that involves a layup of a canal off the tee and two solid shots to reach the green in regulation.
All told, this one is worth the investment. The bag drop service is friendly and prompt, and the clubhouse offers affordable amenities, including a great little bar and grill.
Getting there : From Downtown Houston on I-10, drive west to Grand Parkway (Hwy. 99). Take Grand Parkway south to Fry Rd., then turn right. Take Fry Rd. west for approximately 1.3 miles, and the entrance is on the left.

Nice course with a fair layout
This was my third round on this course and I have to say it is one of my favorite courses in and around Houston. It is fairly easy to play for the "not so good" golfer like myself. What I like in particular is that the course is not in the middle of a community with houses lined up left and right to the fairway and not too much water which my balls seem to have a affinity to.
We played on a Friday morning and it was surprisingly fast play with no delays and no one pushing from behind. The folks in the pro shop, marshals all other staff where very friendly and helpful.
It is a bit more expensive than other courses but not excessively.
Poor Greens
I am sure it is related to the difficult weather lately but the greens are bad. Hopefully they will come back.

New Prices Are Nuts
The course is okay, nice club house, friendly staff. But the new price structure is insane. $125?????? My friends and I have usually paid between $40 and $50 dollars for a round here. Now $125? I guess we won't be playing here again.

The $125 price you are referring to is an all inclusive rate which includes a morning tee time, 18 holes of golf, lunch, and unlimited nonalcoholic drinks. This is a prime time tee time that allows guests to get on and off the golf course quickly with the super bowl being in town. These rates are not all year long if you take a look at our weekend times they are back to the normal prices you are use to. Again we apologize about any inconvenience and hope that you will give us another try in the near future.
Bad greens, bad staff
Two fivesomes were in front of me and would not let me play through. At the turn I asked the starter and marshall for guidance and he said I'd just have to wait.
Greens were atrocious - putting on grass-less mud much of the time.

Wait, Wait, Wait
I was very disappointed with time management. I had a 10:45 tee time with a threesome. I'm not the best golfer in the world but I shouldn't be waiting 15 - 20 min. at the tee box at every hole waiting for group ahead of us to finish. At one point and time, there were 4 foursomes at one tee box. I like this course but I will second guess it if I don't have four hours to play.

Good but not Great
Course was in good shape, but for $60 on weekday it should be great. Too many others just as good for $40.

Worst Experience Yet
Sadly, my experience at Meadowbrook Farms Golf Club in Katy, TX on 11/15/16 was one of the worst that I have had. I play Meadowbrook Farms once or twice a month (and have done so for the last few months), and I have much higher expectations than what I experienced today. I booked my round through GOLFNOW.com (as per usual) and arrived at the golf course an hour early so that I could use the practice facility prior to my round. Warming up for me is critical and helps me prepare for the upcoming round. When I checked in I was told that the range was closed because it was a Tuesday. I decided to putt for a few minutes and chip however the putting green was shaggy and looked as though it had not been mowed in two weeks. The chipping green was closed and no alternative practice channels were available. I decided to just deal with it and approach the starter to see if I could tee off early. When I met with him he said, "did they tell you that the back 9 is closed today? You'll have to play the front 9 twice." Not a single person in the pro shop told me I would need to play the front twice...it was not listed on GolfNow, otherwise I would have decided to play elsewhere. I am definitely upset at the lack of communication and would like to speak with someone about redressing my issue.

Another fine day
Have played Meadowbrook over the last bunch of years while visiting Houston in November from Canada. The course has never been in better condition. I book using GolfNow and really appreciate the opportunity to get decent deals....Keep it up!

One of my favorite courses
Course was in great shape. I took my son there for the first time he had been wanting to go there for a long time and he had a great time. I always enjoy playing Meadowbrook Farms. It's a tough course but it's well worth it.

Lackluster
Super slow greens. Snooty service in the pro shop.
We got rained out and asked for a Rain Check and chance to return, and they passed the buck to GolfNow. They sure are proud of themselves.
I've been playing this course since it opened several years ago. The course design is great, but it is not as well kept as it once was (and not well marked with yardage makers (have to rely on GPS only, which people don't realize is not always as accurate as they perceive). The bunkers are filled with river silt rather than sand so you sometimes get a 'hard pan' lie.
Hope management has a talk with the personnel in the pro shop someday, and invests in some Florida sand for their sand traps.
Ron ,as the club manager I feel it’s best to address each of your issues separately rather than all at once.
#1 The greens had just been aerified which was noted on the website when you made your starting time on GolfNow. This process takes time to heal and as someone who makes their living in golf I wish we never had to do it but the long term effects of not aerifying would be damaging to the greens.
#2 We apologize about your recent experience at the club regarding any Snooty service in the pro shop- I am fairly certain that what you perceived as snooty service was just an employee informing you of the policy as it relates to how we do business with GolfNow. As part of our partnership agreement with GolfNow we only allow a few pre-paid tee times per day. Due to our agreement the golfer is responsible for the full payment of green fees unless: 1) you cancel your reservation prior to the tee time via GolfNow, or 2) the course is closed due to weather. Since the tee time that you purchased is offered by GolfNow and 100% is due online at the time of the reservation we were unable to issue any rain checks. Because we were closed for weather you can still call into GolfNow and have them confirm this with us. It would be analogous to buying a gift card from American express and then asking the retailer to give you changes for the unused portion of the card.
#3 As for the course condition we are not happy with the current state of the sand traps. They excessive rain we have had this year has made them worse. We have recently put a bunch of new material from Arkansas in them.
#4 As for the GPS the manufacturer guarantees their accuracy to within six feet.

Good on paper, but not in person
The course was not well maintained.
- Tee box grass were thick.
- Roughs are thick, if you are in it, forget finding your ball. I know, I know, I should have kept it in the fairways. Or they should hire fore caddies.
- Greens were OK, they were recovering from aerification.
For over $80, I expected more then a under-maintained course.

Could be much better
I rate the greens about a 5 on a scale of 1 to 10. The fairways are in good shape, and the sand traps were finally raked. The rough could stand to be cut a little shorter, and the dead grass should be cleaned away. Its very hard to find a ball if its under a clump of dead hay/grass.

Friday Round
Gst out there and play the course is a nice and friendly course.
When I played the greens were being treated (punched) so lots of sand in the greens but this will go away soon.

Great course for "Hot Deals"

Course can be very tough on your first outing
I am an intermediate player and the course for an Intermediate can be pretty challenging on first visit. It was worth every bit that I payed. The facility was first class and the staff was very friendly and helpful.

Fun track
Wad expecting a little tighter course as it was built within a housing tract. Was surprised to see really wide, forgiving fairways. Greens were in really good shape as were the bunkers. Will definitely play again.
