Meadowbrook Farms Golf Club
About
Sculpted by Greg Norman out of the tall grassland prairies and rice fields west of Houston, Meadowbrook Farms is part of a planned 800-acre residential development headed by Landmark National. Norman's layout includes deep-faced sod bunkers, Lil Prong Creek, and a multitude of oaks, pecans, and sycamores that take the golfer toward greens that are extremely hard.
The lack of parallel holes allows for an open, natural setting that is perfect for golf, especially since Norman didn't favor much reshaping-instead, he used the natural topography of the former rice farm.
Holes of note on the front are the 160-yard No. 6 and the 420-yard No. 9, both accented by the tall native grasses. No. 9 involves wetlands in front of the green, which is tough considering the longish approach.
Several holes on the back can destroy your round, including the narrow, doglegging 395-yard No. 10. It's imperative to find the fairway on this one. And No. 15 is short (340 yards), but is loaded with bunkers that are difficult for the high-handicapped hack.
The best hole of the bunch is perhaps No. 18, a 545-yarder that involves a layup of a canal off the tee and two solid shots to reach the green in regulation.
All told, this one is worth the investment. The bag drop service is friendly and prompt, and the clubhouse offers affordable amenities, including a great little bar and grill.
Getting there : From Downtown Houston on I-10, drive west to Grand Parkway (Hwy. 99). Take Grand Parkway south to Fry Rd., then turn right. Take Fry Rd. west for approximately 1.3 miles, and the entrance is on the left.

Great Course All Around - $40 is a Steal
Great layout, challenging off the tee on multiple holes and wind was a major factor. Layout gives to having same amount of holes into the wind as with it. Hardest part of the course is the thick rough, over 50% of the time you will not find your ball. When you do, you will be thinking you should have dropped because you will be lucky to hit 50 yards. Avoid at all costs. Greens and bunkers were in excellent condition. Only complaint was no cart girl from Mon-Thurs, but more of a drinker than a golfer :) Teed off at 1235, was back in the car 4.
Love playing Meadowbrook Farms
Course was in great shape, fairways were excellent. I enjoy playing Meadowbrook Farms because it is a challenging course that is in very good shape.
Hard Course
I really like this course, it has very tall rough, hard to find your ball if you happen to not to be a straight golfer. So pars are good scores from the Blue tees.
I would not advise you to play after a big rain, because bunkers do no drain well.
I always have found the staff not friendly, but yesterday was very different, all staff was A1+.
Due to the hot weather marshals were offering ice water to all players and were very helpful assisting on finding balls.
I would definitely play the course at $45 or under, will never pay $89+taxes regular costs.
Disappointed
I love the course and the layout, but the front nine was closed for aerating and sanding the greens. I know this is a necessity but I wish we had known about it before we went there. GolfNow should have been told so they could make that known for the people wanting to play the course. I will return sometime because it is a great course!
Different course to play
Staff was friendly and couteous. Played the course as my normal course was not available. Public course, so you get what you pay for. Price is a little high, but marshalls kept pace going as well as possible. Some of the tee boxes need work.
Layout of course has never been my favorite, but that is just my personal view. Good to play somewhere different every once in a while.
This course has great potential
Fairways are all dry. Tee boxes are just plain bad.
The first tee has the only ball washer on the course.
Greg Norman needs to take a look and see what they have done to this course.
hi "specialtyeng" Thank you for your honest review. We apologize if the course conditions were not up to your expectations on this particular day. The course is currently going through its transition period from Spring to Summer. As the new grass begins to grow it can cause the fairways and tee boxes to dry out. This process shouldn't take much longer and the course will be back in the proper shape soon. Thanks for the review and we hope to see you again in the near future. Thanks
Neighborhood Course
Course is a mile from the house. Very convenient to say to least! Grass finally starting to fill in, greens getting quicker and aesthetically pleasing. The only complaint came from my significant other, who said the ladies bathrooms had spiders both on front and back nines. Will be back.
Hi "Mark5245863" Thank you for the review! We are so glad the course is so closet to your residence, we hope that Meadowbrook will become your go to course in the future! We appreciate the feedback regarding the bathroom and we will take a closer look. Thanks for the review and we hope to see you again this weekend!
Lots of trouble but memorable holes too
I played Meadowbrook Farms on a absolutely perfect Sunday in May. I was playing as part of a little makeshift Ryder Cup a friend of mine put together so our Sunday singles took place at Meadowbrook. First off all the course has a nice grass range and a friendly staff (even if you have to pay for range balls with your 85+ dollar round...that's a bit absurd really). The course starts off with two tight dogleg right par 4s. Many of the holes at Meadowbrook Farms don't require driver, in fact driver brings in some unforeseen trouble so if it's you're first time playing be mindful of how close trouble and hazards actually are. Despite the abundance of brush and red stakes the course is wide enough at points to be really enjoyable. On the front holes like 3, 5, 8, and 9 stand out. The eight is an especially cool par 3. An elevated tee with a shot to an equally elevated green that is up on a mound. The mound itself is no bigger than the green surface meaning a shot missing the green is going down an extremely steep, tall (maybe 10 feet from the bottom to the green surface) slope. I would say this is probably the most memorable hole with the drivable par 4 15th coming in a close second. Personally I was worried after the first 2 or 3 holes that this course would suffer from being a bit too narrow and penal but the truth is Meadowbrook Farms is strategically tight. The 10th is a great example. The hole is a hard dogleg right, a shot of anything more than 200 yards needs to be turning left to right to hold the fairway and leave a shorter in or there is the risk of trying to fly the tree line on the right off the tee bringing the brush and trees on the other side of the hole very much into play. The 11th plays a similar trick, the hole is much more straightaway than the 10th but the closer your tee ball gets to the green the narrower the landing zone becomes bringing in water on the right and brush on the left (I hit mine off the path and it bounded out of bounds even though the fence line seemed miles away from the box). Greens were true and in some cases very small targets (the par 5 7th comes to mind). There were some burnt out or flat out dead sections in the fringe of a few greens but nothing crazy. Overall I loved the layout and some of the quirkiness Meadowbrook Farms brings to the table.
Hi "jscalici" Thanks for the great review! We are so glad that you left today with some memorable holes. We do have some challenging holes but are glad you were able to conquer them. We appreciate you leaving us a review and hope you will visit us again next year.
Monday Golf
Fun course to play. Overall, the course is in decent shape. The greens are a bit weathered, particularly around the edges of the green, however. Great value, for the cost of playing. Pace of play was excellent and the staff is great!
Hi "u00000980588" Thanks for the excellent review. We appreciate the kind words regarding our staff and course conditions we will definitely pass this information along. Thanks for playing and we hope to see you again soon.
Marahalls need to relax
Teed off at noon on a Sunday and got done in a little over 4 hours. Having said that, we were told by the marshall's that we were playing a bit slow. The pace of play was set and we were filling it. And as i mentioned we finished in just over 4 hours. Marshall's at this course need to relax. Not the first time they have tried to micro managed our round there. The Marshall's r the only set back we've ever encountered with this course.
Hi "u144656262" Thank you for the honest review. We appreciate you making us aware of the situation and we will take a closer look into our staff. Thank you for the review and we hope to see you again in the near future.
Not Bad
Overall condition is better than mist daily fee courses .Challenging with a friendly stall
Hi "cscenviro" Thanks for the great review! We appreciate you taking the time to leave us such a great review. Please come back and see us again soon.
Enjoyable Sunday afternoon.
Great layout with a number of holes making tee shot club selection critical. Played from the whites with the condones being a bit breezy and provided you were not the correct side of the fairway most greens very receptive. Doglegs and tree lined fairways make finding the fairway and taking trees out of play critical. A number of risk reward holes which hit it correctly and you have a chance at eagle ( driveable par 4 at 250 yards, and relatively short par 5 18th. Fast greens but rolled true. Only see beverage cart once on front and once on the back but she warned us that she was out on her own and the course was full and advised us to double up. Will definitely play it again.
Hi "John7374658" Thanks for the great review. We are so glad you enjoyed your day with us. We did have a few tricky holes but we are glad that you were able to figure them out. We appreciate the great feedback and hope to see you again in the near future.

Hi "STeve7686151" Thanks for the 5 star review. We really appreciate it!
Gregs course
Over all liked the course a lot. The greens were very disappointing, and general course maintenance. The sand traps were in very bad shape also. I will attribute some of that to time of year and recent rains. But being as I got $60 off my green fees with GOLFNOW, it was well worth it!
Hi "u949236741" The course has received a ton of rain and freezing weather in the month of February. On top of the drastic weather the course is currently going through its transition period from Spring to Summer. This process shouldn't take much longer so we appreciate your patience. Thanks again for the feedback and we hope to see you again in the near future. Thanks
bad green !!!
Not too often play here because this couple years we noticed the green is not in good condition. Only last month we felt little improvement but ...... sorry , again.
Only reason play here is not far away from me .

Nice Course
Meadowbrook Farms had an interesting layout. Many of the holes had doglegs with many bunkers in the fairways and around the greens. The greens were in good shape. Fast but far. The fairways were in great shape. The tee boxes were in bad shape and need work. The staff was friendly and an overall good time at this golf course.
Hi "u000003120950" Thank you for the great review. We appreciate the great feedback regarding the course conditions and our excellent staff. We will definitely pass along these kind words to them. Thanks for the review and hope to have you back again soon.
Not fair for price
This course is one of the top in Houston. However this course has one of the worst green condition. It's infected by fungus There is no grass on green. But still charge full green fee. I understand if green has problem should let players know and charge less or whatever. But still charge primium price. I wish l could upload the pictures I took. It looks pretty bad.

One of the best courses
Meadowbrook Farms is one of the best courses in the Houston area. The layout is superior and the course is well maintained. It is a great value through golf advisor.
