About
Sculpted by Greg Norman out of the tall grassland prairies and rice fields west of Houston, Meadowbrook Farms is part of a planned 800-acre residential development headed by Landmark National. Norman's layout includes deep-faced sod bunkers, Lil Prong Creek, and a multitude of oaks, pecans, and sycamores that take the golfer toward greens that are extremely hard.
The lack of parallel holes allows for an open, natural setting that is perfect for golf, especially since Norman didn't favor much reshaping-instead, he used the natural topography of the former rice farm.
Holes of note on the front are the 160-yard No. 6 and the 420-yard No. 9, both accented by the tall native grasses. No. 9 involves wetlands in front of the green, which is tough considering the longish approach.
Several holes on the back can destroy your round, including the narrow, doglegging 395-yard No. 10. It's imperative to find the fairway on this one. And No. 15 is short (340 yards), but is loaded with bunkers that are difficult for the high-handicapped hack.
The best hole of the bunch is perhaps No. 18, a 545-yarder that involves a layup of a canal off the tee and two solid shots to reach the green in regulation.
All told, this one is worth the investment. The bag drop service is friendly and prompt, and the clubhouse offers affordable amenities, including a great little bar and grill.
Getting there : From Downtown Houston on I-10, drive west to Grand Parkway (Hwy. 99). Take Grand Parkway south to Fry Rd., then turn right. Take Fry Rd. west for approximately 1.3 miles, and the entrance is on the left.

Fun but challenging
First time playing this course but will not be my last. It is imperative to hit the fairway but they are generous enough to be fair. Course is in good shape and most will find it enjoyable.

First it was 100degrees. got stuck behind 2 players having a bad day. very slow front 9. No golf etiquette. Did not let me play though. went in front back 9. played course in 3hrs 30mins. course is in good shape and the rough was Rough a good test. traps were so-so. Very little shade, should put trees around tee boxes for more shade. All around a good course and great people.

Very fun course to play.
I'm a 12 handicap and found this course to be a perfect difficulty level for me. The course conditions were great.
Lots of hazard and OB. You can't take driver off of every tee box. I paid $70 through golfnow and found it to be reasonable.

Sand traps still under repair from recent rains. About half of them playable and even the repaired ones bottomed out to clay quickly. Greens looked ragged but actually putted faster than expected; noted that aeration was scheduled 2 days after round. Worst thing about round was being paired up with another twosome with one golfer who was slowest player I have ever played with; not courses fault but if Marshall would have pointed out we were playing slow it would have helped us in telling our player partners to speed up. No marshaling at all even though we had a 2 hole gap in front of us with people waiting behind us. Hesitated to say something to our playing partners because they were otherwise very nice..

Got to stop raining
Have played this course multiple times and always please with the product and value . The staff has had a tough time keeping the bunkers in playable shape with all the rain. The greens today were as good as I have played anywhere all year. The Shark built a tough course !

Good course for the money
Trying to get early tee times in
Houston is hard... It's even harder when it's hot but the 2 times that I've played at Meadowbrook getting an early tee time was very easy. The course is nicely maintained.
Lots of challenges within the course and not too many par 3's makes this course a good one for the occasional player and the one that comes out almost every day.

Nice Course
Customer service at pro shop is ok. The course layout is ok. The pace of play was very very slow. I'm not sure if they had a Marshall....a bit pricey.....some greens need a little "tlc."

I love this course but Yesterday was a tournament the pace of play was really bad. We need to know the days you have tournaments to avoid book a tee time during the tournament.

Greens were in fantastic shape and course was excellent.
Really liked GPS features in cart giving each hole layout and distance to green from any spot.

Good Time
Friendly staff, course was in great shape, only one green with issues I saw.
Very welcoming
I got a last minute time on Sunday afternoon, as I was staying nearby.
I havent played this course for many years and decided to have my girlfriend ride along.
When I got to the pro shop, a young man opened the door and welcomed us immediately.
Man behind the desk was helpful.
In the bar area, the bartender recommended a new local draft beer.
All of this within first five minutes of being on property.
The course has some interesting holes and high rough.
The bunkers were washed out from the recent deluge we have been receiving, so I totally understand that.
This is a scenic layout that does'nt even seem like Texas sometimes.
Thank you for your customer service, everyone was happy to be there it seemed.

Got in on a Hot Deal for only 42$ Worth the money. Pair up with two guys, that I enjoyed playing with. The place was in good shape for this time of year. The greens roll well and fast.
Great layout and greens
Great day at Meadowbrook Farms, I had played this course a few times in the past but always in a select shot tournament. Course was very well maintained and although primarily dormant in the fairways the course was not like playing off hardpan. First time playing on my own and the wind is tricky but the greens that normally play into the wind are ample making it easier to get on the green. Greens are fair, not putt putt style as some courses on the neighborhodd are. Definitely look forward to my next visit.
