Sienna Plantation Golf Club
About
The Arthur Hills/Mike Dasher-designed Sienna Plantation is a flat, wooded course that has been enhanced to provide elevation changes. The result is a challenging track that rolls between lakes, creeks, and the native hardwoods that dominate the landscape.
In terms of playability, you'll primarily notice the abundance of risk-reward decisions that are required throughout the round on this course, which tips out at 7,151 yards.
Out of the chute you'll be challenged immediately-the opening two holes play as a 427-yard par 4 and a 601-yard par 5. It lightens up a bit on holes 3-4 with a reasonably short par 3 and a short par 4, but holes 5-8 can blow your score up quickly if you're not on your game. No. 6 is a monster 251-yard par 3 sandwiched between two 450-yard par 4s.
On the back it's more of the same, with the nine opening with four 400-yard plus par 4s. Both par 3s are over 200 yards, and the par 5s are each well over 500 yards. The only real birdie opportunity for the average handicapper is the 320-yard No. 16.
Getting there : Take Hwy. 59 south to the Williams Trace exit. Turn left on Williams Trace to Hwy. 6. Turn left and drive 5.5 miles to the Sienna Plantation main entrance. Turn right and follow the signs to the Information Center.

SLOW PLAY
We teed off at 12:50 at 5 PM, we had completed 13 holes. The front nine took approximately two hours and 45 minutes to play never saw Marshall.
Windy and Rainey
Course was in good condition given the weather. Group in front was a bit slow, but everyone's gotta start somewhere. Had a blast until the turn, when we got rained out.
Good value
Generally it's a good course. The layout is good with some interesting and challenging holes. When I played it was cart path only due to recent rain. The driving range was closed as well. The course had a good mix of pretty normal holes and some challenging ones. The green complexes are interesting with a lot of tiers and undulations. The pins werent in really difficult locationx. The condition of the greens wasn't great. But the pin locations helped to play away from the bad spots.
The tee times are spaced 8 minutes apart. This, combined with it being cart path only, caused some substantial backlog at the 1st tee. When I made the turn it looked like 2-3 groups were waiting in line.
The staff was friendly and helpful to me. The person that called in while I was in the pro shop probably didn't have the same experience. The level of helpfulness was not the same on the phone.
Sienna Golf Club
Course is well designed , is challenging and is fun to play. No two holes are the same. Greens have a lot of character and are a good challenge to putt
Fun course needs work
2nd time playing here. Very fun course. Bunkers and greens have seen better days. But that maybe due to the off season weather. Last time here course was in great shape. I trust it will recover. Will be back.
Very average but getting run down
Course is always fun to play and moderately challenging. Fairways in good shape and greens were worked on recently so about 80% of the way back. Sucks that only 2 ball washing devices on the course had water in them. Someone just isn't paying attention or does not care. Bathrooms are disgusting. I've used cleaner ones at a gas station in Mississippi. Again, appears someone just does not care. Clubhouse has been a disappointment for over 20 years and it is obvious ownership just does not care. This place could print money if they wanted to!
Black Friday Deals
Considering this was a Black Friday Deal, completely booked, we had a great experience, and had a blast. The staff was really busy, organized, helpful and kept it professional and was painless. The course was in great shape, and love the layout, and would definitely recommend it, so if you’ve never been it’s worth checking it out.
Still needs maintenance work.
Irrigation system needs maintenance. Several sprinkler heads leak and creat mud puddles.
Sand bunkers are atrocious.
Driving range is average at best.
Practice putting green is probably the worst design I’ve ever seen. There are no level areas.
It’s challenging. But the greens were rough! Add that to the challenge
It continues to get worse
This course is so poorly managed its not worth 1/3 of the cost. The groundskeeper should win the worst of the city.
When putting dont mind the slope of the greens but be aware of the many weeds that will ping pong your ball making every putt a multi breaker. If you're lucky enough to not find a weed in your line then enjoy the sandbox on the green they replaced the grass with and hence why there aren't any weeds.
When you hit the fairway flip a coin on whether you will be on a dry dead patch of grass or if you'll be lucky enough to take a mud bath in any slightly low area of the course that have been watered to the point of unplayability.
Don't expect a cart girl on the course, she isn't coming. If you're lucky enough to catch the grille open at the turn be prepared for 20+ minute waits for a hotdog.
Save your money and lower your disappointment by playing any other course in Houston.
Greens and Fairways
The greens and fairways are in poor conditions. The fairways are hard and cracked. Greens have bumpy grass growing.
Great course, but conditions are spotty
I always enjoy this course for its interesting variety of hole designs and the overall challenge. However, on the front nine, most of the greens are bumpy due to scattered crabgrass (poa?) growth. The back nine greens were in significantly better shape with little to none of this. Some of the tee boxes need some work; pushing a tee into the ground shouldn't be a struggle. Hopefully they get these issues under control shortly. It is one of the more enjoyable public courses on the south side of Houston.
Bad greens
Greens were atrocious especially on the front 9. At least give patrons a disclaimer or a discounted rate if greens are currently under construction
