Course Highlights
Sienna's layout earns high praise for its challenging elevated greens and diverse mix of holes rarely found in the Houston area. Affordable pricing, well-maintained fairways, and genuinely helpful staff consistently make this a top value pick.

About

Holes 18
Type Semi-Private
Par 72
Length 7151 yards
Slope 132
Rating 73.7

The Arthur Hills/Mike Dasher-designed Sienna Plantation is a flat, wooded course that has been enhanced to provide elevation changes. The result is a challenging track that rolls between lakes, creeks, and the native hardwoods that dominate the landscape.

In terms of playability, you'll primarily notice the abundance of risk-reward decisions that are required throughout the round on this course, which tips out at 7,151 yards.

Out of the chute you'll be challenged immediately-the opening two holes play as a 427-yard par 4 and a 601-yard par 5. It lightens up a bit on holes 3-4 with a reasonably short par 3 and a short par 4, but holes 5-8 can blow your score up quickly if you're not on your game. No. 6 is a monster 251-yard par 3 sandwiched between two 450-yard par 4s.

On the back it's more of the same, with the nine opening with four 400-yard plus par 4s. Both par 3s are over 200 yards, and the par 5s are each well over 500 yards. The only real birdie opportunity for the average handicapper is the 320-yard No. 16.

Getting there : Take Hwy. 59 south to the Williams Trace exit. Turn left on Williams Trace to Hwy. 6. Turn left and drive 5.5 miles to the Sienna Plantation main entrance. Turn right and follow the signs to the Information Center.

Sienna Continues to Disappoint

Younger guy in the clubhouse with dark hair and thin beard is the worst. He just has a horrible attitude. Dude, if you don’t like people you should not be in the service business.

Course is in reasonably good shape though broken sprinkler heads dot the course and cause large soft areas and wild hogs have ripped up a number of fairways with no repair for over two months.

Bar in the clubhouse closes well before golfers are off the course and there is no drink cart.

Talking about carts . . . . the rental carts are horrible. For a course with elevation changes you need a parking break on your cart, right? The folks at Sienna don’t think so. The parking breaks don’t work on the carts. Further, most carts are tired and slow and most tires are bald.

Where are the marshals?

Very busy day. Eight-minute tee times.

Not a single marshal to be seen on the course during our nearly FIVE-HOUR round! We had to wait on nearly every shot. On three of the par-five holes, there were FOUR groups of players. The foursome ahead of us quit with two holes to go.

Surely the head pro/management can send out marshals to keep players moving at a reasonable pace.

Cold day at Siena

Marshall was on top of his job,, reorganizing groups on the fly to get groups off. He also broke up a sevensome that was slowing our play down. Nice clubhouse facility. I’ll be back.

Course improving, but personnel issues remain.

The management/owners of Sienna have finally started investing money in improving the conditions of the course. There is still plenty of room for improvement, but it's no longer an embarrassment in such a nice community. Unfortunately, the staff continues to underwhelm. The woman who manages the restaurant/bar is extremely cold and rude to most patrons. If you can get a good deal, the trouble is worth it if you live close. If not, there are other courses with much nicer people who can make your overall experience better.

Course layout good, pace horrid!

It would be unfair to say that the course is not challenging. The course layout definitely contest you especially from the tips. However, three hours for nine holes is absurd. I gave up after 13 because the group in front of us had three players and we literally waited on every hole including par fives at the Teebox. The Marshall did come out and did absolutely nothing to get things moving. When the game of golf takes this long it is not good for anyone. I will definitely come back in the spring or summer to finish playing the course as it does provide an enjoyable experience in terms of course content. However you need to be aware of the slow play that is currently being allowed.

Hello, thank you for reviewing the course. We would like to apologize for the delay of play during your round. Please know that this is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. With an uncharacteristically full day, we work hard to accommodate everyone who visits our course and allow our guest the chance to complete their rounds. With that in mind, we are working to best control pace and allow everyone to finish in a reasonable amount of time. We will continue to look for ways to improve and use your comments as guidance in doing so! Thank you for playing Sienna Plantation Golf Club. We hope to see you again soon.

Love this course!

I’ve been playing at Sienna for a couple of years now and as always, the course is in great shape with the friendliest staff around. This morning the course had a golf tournament and even though they were running behind, the staff did their best to get everyone with afternoon tee times going. My hats off to you guys as y’all did great! If you are looking for a challenging course with beautiful fairways and a friendly staff then this is a must!

Better

Greens are much better and quick. Few greens had some minor problems but overall very good.

Fairways were still wet from rain from last weekend.-

Should be dryer after four days.

Sand traps are like play out of packed clay!!!

Condition are better and worth playing if can book hot deals on GN

Sienna Plantation Golf Club Review

Course has a good layout and the the course is always well maintained which is the only reason I would recommend this course.

Negatives

Felt a lack of Marshall interference when players could not keep up with pace of play in front of my group. Additionally, the pro shop has no personality and it comes off rude. Lastly, my group played on a rainy/ cold day, the pro shop could not provide any of us with towels to clean the seats of water, and mud through out the round.
