Sienna Plantation Golf Club
About
The Arthur Hills/Mike Dasher-designed Sienna Plantation is a flat, wooded course that has been enhanced to provide elevation changes. The result is a challenging track that rolls between lakes, creeks, and the native hardwoods that dominate the landscape.
In terms of playability, you'll primarily notice the abundance of risk-reward decisions that are required throughout the round on this course, which tips out at 7,151 yards.
Out of the chute you'll be challenged immediately-the opening two holes play as a 427-yard par 4 and a 601-yard par 5. It lightens up a bit on holes 3-4 with a reasonably short par 3 and a short par 4, but holes 5-8 can blow your score up quickly if you're not on your game. No. 6 is a monster 251-yard par 3 sandwiched between two 450-yard par 4s.
On the back it's more of the same, with the nine opening with four 400-yard plus par 4s. Both par 3s are over 200 yards, and the par 5s are each well over 500 yards. The only real birdie opportunity for the average handicapper is the 320-yard No. 16.
Getting there : Take Hwy. 59 south to the Williams Trace exit. Turn left on Williams Trace to Hwy. 6. Turn left and drive 5.5 miles to the Sienna Plantation main entrance. Turn right and follow the signs to the Information Center.

Love the course layout
Sienna offers one of the best layouts in the Houston area. Very firm playing conditions, with a lot of emphasis on tee shot placement. Greens were redone last year, but starting to show signs of struggle. Hopefully they can keep them up.
Great course for great value!
i have been playing here a couple of times per week for 3 years. They have a good senior rate on Mon - Thur. The greens were re-done in the fall of 2014 are are in very good shape now. Not terribly fast, but the roll very consistent. From the blue tees this course is one of the toughest in the Houston area. Several holes have fairly tight driving areas, it is heavily wooded with several ravines. Par 3's are long but 2 of the Par 5's are reachable with two good shots. #18 is a great finishing par 5 with 2 ravines to cross and heavy woods on both sides of the fairway. #11 and #13 are two of the more challenging par 4's you can play, but followed by #16, a reachable par 4. You will use most every club in your bag and the doglegs are evenly split both directions. Love this course!
Hot weather, hot golf
The course is beautiful and well kept and has a wide variety of holes. Houses along the fairways do not detract from the golfing experience.
I played late Saturday afternoon at a discounted price. The round would have been worth it at twice the price.
Heat Stroke Prevention Needed
I'd like to see the management of this course increase the number of water coolers. As a subdivision course, it is quite spread out with no option to return to a club house. When the heat is nearing 100, they need to offer more options to cool down.
Great Value
Sienna Plantation is looking great. The greens have really come around nicely after being re-done. Love this course!
Enjoyed my round, first time playing this course
My first time playing this course. I got a hot deal for 3pm on a Sunday, finished my round at 6:15. So of course I loved the 3 hour round. Liked the layout of the course. Course was in good shape. Greens rolled pretty good but a little slow. Fairways were excellent. Staff was friendly enough.
The one thing is there were some many bugs on the deep wooded holes. They seemed to be attached to the off that I had too, lol. Course maintenance needs to go through the course and spray to reduce gnats. Still I would come back and play again for sure.
Had a Great Time
Fairways were nice and green and putting greens were nice and fast & green also due to all the rain we had in May and June...the pace suck due to holiday weekend and I think the pace would have been a little faster if it wasn't a holiday
The price could have been a little cheaper beside that had a great time for the first time out there
Good course, but over watered
I've played here several times. I really do like the course, but they over watered it. Most shots would up with a mud ball. The weather was perfect and there was no reason to play lift clean and place other than the incredibly muddy landing areas and areas around and short of the greens. Also, whoever cuts the pins seems to like putting them on the slopes of par 3s. Probably a person who's not a golfer. Pace of play was great for most of the round. I'll definitely go back, but it would help if they cut back on watering, especially on weekends.
Pleasant Surprise
I had read several less than favorable reviews of this course prior to playing here. I am always skeptical of negative reviews and didn't know what to expect. From the moment we stepped out of my truck we were impressed. The clubhouse area was kept in excellent shape, the staff was friendly and helpful. We hit a few balls on the range and arrived a little early at the first tee. The starter was very friendly and we got out a little before our schedule tee time. The pace of play was perfect, the condition of the course was very good. Based on earlier reviews I'd read, I was afraid the greens would be in poor shape. Not so, in fact I thought they were in very good shape considering all of the rain we've had recently. Over all an enjoyable round.
Nice course
Received an excellent deal on a "hot deal". The course was quite a drive for us, but the deal was too good to pass up. I'm not sure I would pay $75 on the weekends and drive an hour to get there though. The course is kept up very well.
Amazing course
I don't write reviews usually but this course was a steal. Had a great time and the course was in pristine condition.
Interesting layout but greens weren't great
Fun and challenging course. Price is okay if you get a Hot Deal. The course was in decent shape except for the greens. We played after a heavy rain, but it felt like we were putting on bumpy carpet. Pace of play wasn't great, maybe 4:30-4:45.
Horrible condition
I moved to Houston about 6 months ago and this is the worst conditioned course I have played so far. It's unfortunate because the actual layout of the course is great. The holes are challenging and there is a nice variety of holes. The greens were basically unplayable and beyond beat up. The fairways were horrible and tee boxes looked more like rough. Really disappointing.
Siena Plantation
Layout very good vs. most Houston courses.
Course condition very good, with exception for greens which is still in recovery mode- expect prime condition in 1-2 months with spring rain.
Staff very courteous- contrary to some prior reviews.
Would recommend
this dourse has bad
we are play today after 12am . too mach bad green.
Sienna Golf
Course was is good shape for winter play. They just sanded the greens. The fairways we're was dry, after a few days of rain. Good course. I would recommend it.
Worth the drive
Perfect weather for a round of golf and the course was in very good condition. Not the first time to have played it and it never disappoints. Would of been nice to have had a beverage cart on the course. Only draw back was we were behind a girls high school tournament and when we caught them the pace of play crawled. Played the front twice and then played the back nine. If you have never played Sienna Plantation get a deal on GolfNow and mark it off your list, you will not be disappointed.
Very interesting layout
I've loved this place since the first time I played it. Conditions are really good. The only flaws noticed were that the 9th and 18th greens were a little bumpy on the back. There are some very interesting holes here. Numbers two, four, sixteen and eighteen come to mind.
Sinna Plantation
Course has good layout and some interesting holes. Work was done to improve greens in Fall 2014 and greens were better. The question will be is how they develop in summer conditions
