Hill Country Golf Club - Creeks/Oaks
About
The Creeks Nine is one of three courses at the Hill Country Golf Club. Named after the creeks that meander through the layout, this course demands accuracy with water coming into play on several holes and numerous strategically placed bunkers. There are also wooded ravines and a variety of elevation changes to keep golfers on their toes. The Oaks Nine is named for the towering oaks that blanket the course. The courses are situated on over 200 acres of scenic Texas Hill Country, giving them each a beautiful landscape of rolling hills and lush meadows dotted with native oak trees and clear blue lakes. Hill Country Golf Club is also home to a driving range and putting green on addition to the three nines.

Creek Course #9 Photo submitted by GreerGolf on 06/06/2017
Immaculate even in 105F heat
It’s been a few years since we played here and I forgot how nice the course and facilities are! Very well maintained, especially considering the current heat wave we’re in!
Very high price for the experience
$186.19 for a round and had to play same 9 twice due to tournament that morning. Starter allowed two children out in front of our group resulting in 2 hour 45 minute front 9. Was very crowded due to tournament and scorching temps.
One of the best courses in town
Amazing golf course made up of 3 different 9 hole courses. That helps a lot with pace of play. The course can be pricey at times, but definitely worth it if you can find some deal or discount. The only thing I wish they would change is to let you play all 27 holes!
Stuck behind Texas Golf Association 6 hour round
The golf course was fine. In pretty good shape. Still showing signs of winter freeze damage. Maintenance somewhat lacking in attention to detail, as Oaks course has become overgrown (when hill country oaks get water, they grow!) Pete Dye said "you can have a golf course or you can have a forest, but you can't really have both." The Oaks could be beautiful with some clearing of undergrowth and trimming of overgrown canopy that is blocking sun light.
Lakes course is easier to navigate. The newer holes (on lakes and creek 9s) play like newer greens: firmer and slower.
My real complaint is with the TGA, which was hosting a match play league tournament the day we played. We were first group off after tournament, and started with 2 holes open in front of us. On a two hour 9 hole pace, we caught the tournament by #5! There were 3 groups on the #9 tee!
It was a 2 hour and 45 minute 9 holes. I never saw a TGA official (!) and only saw 1 course Marshall, who said "these guys think they're good, but they're not!" He said he couldn't do anything about the TGA tournament pace of play. I've played inn TGA events for 40 years and TGA should be embarrassed.
Back to Hill Country GC, we played Lakes 9 on our second nine with no one in front of us, in 1 hour 40 minutes, so no complaint there. Just wish we had known about TGA Event when we booked!
You should probably ask about what other events (or course maintenance) are booked at HCGC when you book.
Birthday beating
This day was my brother’s annual birthday golf beating. The course was in great shape and all course personnel were courteous and helpful. We usually play this course a couple times a year and is always a treat. I would highly recommend this course.
Meh
Course was in below average condition relative to other local courses. Layout has a few goofy holes. No the best but not the worst. Middle of the road SA course.
Great facility, this was my first time playing this course and I really enjoyed it. The greens were fast and rolled very smoothly. The layout of the course was great with many scenic holes and a few deer as welll. I would love to play here again if I’m in the San Antonio area.
Hyatt Consistently Brings the Goodness to Golf
It was so great to putt on beautifully cared for greens! Kudos to the staff and ground crews for their excellent work! I appreciated it very much!
A Wonderful Course
Everything here is first class from the carts to the course layout and conditions. A real pleasure to play.
Parking issues.
Course was in phenomenal shape, greens were a bit slow but due to recent rain and being early season they were in good shape. The main issue I had was lack of information about a college golf tournament being played at the same time as my tee time. I literally had to park 1/4 mile away from clubhouse because of the tournament spectators and team busses. As a paying customer this is unacceptable. At least have shuttle busses for people using remote parking areas. I got there an hour before tee time to be able to hit some balls and putt only to be rushed out 40-45 minutes early to get ahead of the tournament. For a course that charges nearly a $100 I felt I was just a burden to the staff.
A well maintained course!
I was a member here for several years. As I have aged, my golf has suffered through injuries and health issues. This course was better than ever! The fairways and greens were fabulous! It was soooo nice to putt on well rolled greens! Kudos to all of the staff!
Great resort course.
Fantastic track. Sneaky tough track for a resort course. Played the Creek/Oaks combo. Oaks 9 requires you to be precise.
Conditions were very good. Greens had been punched and sanded 8 days prior so they were a touch bumpy. Fairways, tee boxes and bunkers were great.
Pace of play was phenomenal. But it was Monday am with mist. Never saw another group ahead or behind us. 3:50 minute round.
Will play again when I’m in town.
