Hill Country Golf Club - Lakes/Oaks
About
Hill Country Golf Club offers three nines, all of which sprawl across 200 scenic acres of Texas Hill Country. The terrain is provided with rolling meadows and steep hillsides dotted with tranquil lakes and ponds that come into play throughout the 27 holes. The Lakes Nine is obviously characterized by the clear blue lakes that come into play throughout the course. There are also wooded ravines and strategically placed bunkers throughout the course for even more challenges. The Oaks Nine is named for the towering oaks that blanket the course. From wooded ravines to tree-lined fairways, this nine is a demanding test of accuracy. There are strategically placed bunkers and water comes into play on a few holes. The courses, which were designed by well-known architectural firm Arthur Hill & Associates, have received praise from both Golf Digest and Golf Magazine.

Creek Course #9 Photo submitted by GreerGolf on 06/06/2017
Wet conditions
This was my first time playing this course. Staff was very helpful including the starter who made sure we got to the right place. They are constructing a new clubhouse.
The course itself played well considering all the rains the previous 4 days in SA and the Hill Country in general. Good roll on the fairway and the slower than normal speed of the greens reflected the moisture in the ground.
Overall a great place to play.
Important to note that the grass around the greens were bluegrass and decent to chip from.
Back in form
Played Hill Country course for he first time in several years and was pleasantly surprised with how good it was. Lake’s 9 was first and it was quite nice. Great shot shapes all through the 9. Fairways in good shape as were the greens. Was a bit clogged so that 9 was slow. Marshall put us on Oaks for our second 9 and it was much faster. Great conditioning of fairways and greens even though they’d been aerated he previous week. No bumps or challenges with putting. Looking forward to playing it again soon
Nice Return to HIll Country Golf
Hadn't played Hyatt Hill Country Golf Course in several years and was pleasantly surprised with the improvements. Even though I got a discount due to an aerification alert, the greens were in very good condition and no aeration holes were visible at all. Overall, the fairways were very good and provided great ability to control balls into the greens and the greens were very receptive. I played Lakes - Oaks this time and it was the first time on the Oaks in at least 10 years if not first time ever. Happy the starter let me go on there for the back as it was significantly faster than the first 9 on the Lakes. Glad I got a golf now deal that cut the price in half, that made it totally worthwhile.
Great course!
Played the first time here and definitely be back! $68 on Golf Now for 2 including a cart is a no brainer for that course. The only down side is the alcohol prices on the course, you pay for the location. Bring a hip flask and Bob’s your uncle!
Hyatt Sunday round
The course and the pro shop and restaurant are very nice. Can’t wait until the construction is completed, it takes a little away from the experience at the course.
Nice Course
Great layout with nice fairways and greens putted quick and true.
Beautiful Course
First time playing this course and it was beautiful and challenging. Nice scenery and awesome staff, will return.
Not worth the money
Course is in bad shape. Fairways are okay but the greens are anything but green.. dead grass and sand was every green. If that wasn’t bad enough the pace is very slow so you are waiting on every tee box every approach and so on. Would not recommend this course to anyone I paid $50 which is less than the usual rate and I still feel as if I paid way too much money. Unfortunate experience as I live very close to a course, but I will not be returning.
Great resort style course
The course was in good shape, the staff were friendly and the pace of play was great.
There are 3 9-hole courses so you can get a different mix every time you play 18. This helped the Marshall direct traffic at the turn and allowed for a great pace of play by channeling backed up groups to the less busy course available at that moment.
Beware there are currently major renovations going on at the resort so there is a fair bit of construction near the pro shop but we were unaffected once on the course.
Compared to the other courses in and around San Antonio I would confidently say this is a home run for the value. Especially once the renovations are finalized.
Planned well for construction
Although construction going on the course was in Great Shape and they had prepared well for the construction. Two temporary or "different" holes but everything had been attended to including the in-cart GPS!!
Recommend course even while construction is going on!
Construction woes loom heavy
Usually a great course and fun time but wait until all the construction is done and they figure out how to manage pacing, scheduling, and a resort course experience.
Wait
Played this course numerous times....good layout...challenging..and usually in nice shape....but...wait until the construction is completed...not even close to worth what they are charging...a few temp holes and the course conditions are very "firm"...greens were ok...not what I'm used to...the rest was OK also but not what I'm used to...again wait...it's not worth the price
Still under Construction
The course played well and it’s probably one of the best in San Antonio. Can’t wait for the construction to be done.
