Hill Country Golf Club - Lakes/Oaks
About
Hill Country Golf Club offers three nines, all of which sprawl across 200 scenic acres of Texas Hill Country. The terrain is provided with rolling meadows and steep hillsides dotted with tranquil lakes and ponds that come into play throughout the 27 holes. The Lakes Nine is obviously characterized by the clear blue lakes that come into play throughout the course. There are also wooded ravines and strategically placed bunkers throughout the course for even more challenges. The Oaks Nine is named for the towering oaks that blanket the course. From wooded ravines to tree-lined fairways, this nine is a demanding test of accuracy. There are strategically placed bunkers and water comes into play on a few holes. The courses, which were designed by well-known architectural firm Arthur Hill & Associates, have received praise from both Golf Digest and Golf Magazine.

Creek Course #9 Photo submitted by GreerGolf on 06/06/2017
A Hidden Gem
Wonderful layout, some challenging holes, picturesque, greens good but not great. Excellent golf carts, GPS not accurate. Excellent practice facility. Overall a great value.
Great Round
Great course, great staff. Love the course layout. Bit challenging but overall great course to play.
Great course
A little hidden gem in San Antonio. Great layout. Had some difficulty. Course is as best as it could be with weather condition.
Do not play
This course is at a resort but it is NOT a resort course. Very rough around the edges. Tee markers that haven’t been moved in weeks. Greens with huge weed and bare spots.
Do not waste your money.
Do not waste your time.
Staff didnt care if we were there or are to tell us anything about the course. We played 3 other courses in San Antonio this weekend and ALL of them were way better experiences.
Hyatt Hill Country Resort Golf Course
The golf course is in excellent playing condition with a great layout!
Perfect storm
Wasn’t told we would be playing the same 9 holes twice due to a tournament, they were out of range balls, and the beverage cart only came by once when we’re were almost done our second round. Grass was yellow, not well taken care of, and the ground was hard-clay firm. Watch out for the ant hills, they’re everywhere and I’m dealing with blisters now. Expected much better.
Hyatt hill country
Not so hill country. Not a lot of elevation changes you would think but a nice course nonetheless. One of the greens on the lakes was in bad shape but all the others on lakes and creeks were nice. Was my first time playing, solid 4 of 5 stars.
Unfortunate
Unbelievable. Pace of play was horrible. Granted we’re experienced golfers with decent HC. After waiting behind a slow group of men on the lakes course for five holes they finally waved us through and we completed that nine. Looking forward to playing the next nine on Creek’s we were told by the starter we had a group two holes ahead. Relief. Well that didn’t last long. We caught them very quickly. Well looking in front of that group was a party of “ 6 “ !!! I couldn’t believe it. First and foremost 6 period is a huge No! On a Saturday?? Really!! It was just absolutely miserable.
Lost prestige
I’ve been to this course many times over the years. This time it really just completely lost it’s prestige of being a “resort” course. The course has not changed, the routings are the same, however; the greens are slow and rough and the fairways are not as lush as used to be. Bunkers are hard packed and not raked and smoothed out. The range is no longer provided with unlimited range ball. One would get a tiny bag of beat up range ball and that’s it.
Since I used TeeOff app and got a hot deal that saved me some money otherwise, it would be even more disappointing. The staffs are cordial but not very friendly nor helpful. The starter is more interested in chatting with friends than to inform players of their approaching tee time and get players in position to tee off.
Like I said, this place no longer has the prestige of being a “resort” course yet it continues to demand the resort course fees. This course is just a regular public course that over charges anymore.
