Slow play
It is too much to pay top dollar to play a 5 hour round of golf. Course was in great shape but we couldn’t get into a Groove waiting on every shot. No ranger in sight. Love this course but not worth the money spent.
Thank you for the comment and thanks for playing. As we have been extremely busy lately, we do tightly monitor the pace through our GPS system from the golf shop. While people may not see a marshal at certain times, we most certainly are keeping an eye on pace and sending messages to carts to keep our proper pace.. Shouldn't Open when Soaked
This review is for late May after quite a bit of rain recently. I know some courses are closed due to wet conditions, and honestly this course shouldn't have been open. I can deal with softness and some mud, but this was uncalled for. Many bunkers were basically ponds. Several holes with fairways basically turned into ponds or morphing into the marsh. Worst of all are many hits took the course with you since it was so wet and soaked. Let alone the mud everywhere.
I've played on soft courses, but wet courses are terrible and horrible to maintain in good condition. This course drainage system didn't exist. Parts of the fairways looked beat up because it was too wet for normal play.
Mind you, I walked it due to covid-19 restrictions in May. Somehow the people behind me got carts, but they didn't look like they needed them at all. In fact they could have used the walking. Because of them breathing down my neck since they didn't have to walk at all, and the group in front me was moving slow since they hit from the blues without the additional distance to justify hitting that far made the pace of play out of wack. In fact, they were painfully slow, even with a 15 min gap. Overall I was disappointed, and I want to try it again after the course is dried. The course shouldn't be open after some rain since it can't handle it.
Thank you for taking the time to review. Yes, that was one of the wettest periods we've seen. We did get 4" the previous day, and another 4 a couple days before that. We do have a lot of property and drainage is some of the best around, but that system flooded the whole area in northern IL. We welcome you back as the course is in pristine condition! As good as advertised
Wide open fairways, fast greens, and lots of hazards make this course a great challenge. The layout has challenges for lots of shots and you can be creative as you approach, unlike a lot of other area courses. The greens are large so you’re rewarded with a decent approach and the tee options are actually worthy of choosing a set that matches your game. This is a golfers golf course, not something for people who want to putz around and tap the ball.

Was in as good as shape as possible with all the rain we had... had many workers out there today working the course. The greens were fast like the always are but are beat up with ball marks.... what wrong with people ... can’t they fix their hallmarks properly??
