Stonewall Orchard Golf Club

Stonewall is a great modern track. We had a nice day and round however I have to downgrade them because the sand traps are basically mud and/or hard pan. Many of the fairways were also completely overwatered so you got virtually no roll on the ball. The course was in great shape other than that and the greens were really fast/firm and slick. Too many ball marks not repaired or repaired correctly and also noticed a few of the greens had putter swipes/divot frustration marks on them from golfers who aren't very good putters getting angry because Stonewalls greens are some of the fastest around....
Given the premium rates you have to pay to play this place (usually over $50 plus plus) the sand traps should have some sand in them rather than a layer of wet thin sand (at best) or mud. Sure it had rained the previous day but even then despite them raking the traps.....they just aren't very fair/playable. Many of you will say just avoid the traps.....which is really tough to do at this course so have to take easily a star off for that and the over watering......

Course was in very nice condition though tee boxes were a bit rough. Greens were fast though in good shape. Mosquitos on the back nine could be abated with spray/fog. Slow play despite the "10 minute spacing" (maybe their clock is faster than most).

Very challenging the day we played due to high winds. Course was in excellent condition, not crowded, friendly people. Especially difficult where there were blind tee shots (if you haven't played it before).

Nothing bad about this course. Everything is top notch. I will defiantly go back - numerous times

Great course, quick greens, lots of hazards! Good variety of tee of positions to ensure the course is manageable for all handicaps.

I have played plenty of private and public tracks and these greens were among the fastest I've played. I wish the patrons would replace or fill their divots but I guess that is to be expected at a public course. Only problem was we had to cut round short because of lightning. Still need to play last 4 holes!

The course is forgiving if straight of the tee. Driving range is nice. The ranger was very friendly and did not push.

Even with the previous day's rain, the course played great. Nice layout. Like the split tee set-up. Provides some challenge but still enjoyable.

Course was in great shape and very challenging. Really have to think about shots.

We have not golfed here since it first opened and we were excited to see how it has matured. The layout was really interesting and fun to play. The pace of play was slow but it was a beautiful day, the course was in great condition and the staff was all very friendly. I can't wait to play there again.

played here 6/20/15 nice track holes are set up well and boxes are to played to skill level. not a grip it and rip course need to place your shots to score, greens are fast but true. staff was great and will play again for sure.

This course is a stunner. Fantastic and beautiful design. Can't wait to play again. I bought their frequent player card. Great staff. Friendly and inviting.

Course was in great shape, well manicured, and fast greens. This place is staff friendly and maintenance crews are courteous to the players. The course is challenging to the average golfer, with great water hazards and pristine views of natural preserves. A little more expensive than others in the area but worth it. A private club atmosphere.

This is one of my top two Chicagoland courses. It is absolutely fantastic. It has challenging holes with fantastic scenery and is always in great shape. Yesterday was no exception. Even after torrential downpours the previous day it was soft but great and I have nothing to complain about at all. If you are looking for a really challenging course that is always in great shape this your course!!

In my opinion Stonewall Orchard is the top golf course in the North/Northwest Chicago land area. The greens are fast and the fairways are in excellent condition. There is plenty of water, trees and natural hazards to grab your attention. Make no mistake this is a very challenging course. I love it and I think you will too.

Exceptional layout that challenges from start to finish. The course was in great shape and the staff was courteous and helpful. Will definitely go back! Great value.

I live in the city and am so glad I made the drive to Stonewall Orchard. Everything was top-notch, here were the best parts: cart staff comes and picks you up in the parking lot, great practice area, course was immaculate, food was really good with good pricing, I saw a fox on the 8th hole, such a serene setting.

Lightning fast greens, a majority of pins were in really difficult locations......awesome.

Love how each hole is isolated from anything else. You don't have people playing in a fairway next to you. It is challenging, but fair. Keep it straight and choose your shots you'll be fine. Make poor choices and it will eat you up though.

The title says it all. Stonewall recently held a U.S. Open qualifier.
Great design, great condition and everything you would expect for a premier golf experience.
Highly recommended.
Course plays tough with forced carries but if you strike the ball good you will have fun here.
