Stone River Golf Club
About
Previously known as Aaki Ranch International Golf Course, Stone River Golf Club is a basic, homemade 18-hole track that opened in 1997, featuring rolling Bermuda pastures, manmade lakes, and young trees. Playing only 6,487 yards from the tips with minimal trees lining the fairways, you’ll be able to swing hard and let it rip.
Getting there : From Dallas, head east on I-30 for about 25 miles to exit 77B (FM35). Turn right at the stop onto FM 35, then continue about 1 mile. Turn right onto FM 2453 and drive another .5 miles. The golf course is on your right

Hardpan
It’s hard to believe an afternoon tee time was over $35 during a week day. This is my 3rd time playing here this year, figured maybe by late summer it would be in shape, and it was not so. The greens were rolling about a 5. I am not joking. Slowest greens I have putted on this year. But still they were rock hard, just seems like they haven’t been mowed. Hard to gauge any short game shots like that. Going from lag putting to short putts is frustrating. I think the fairways may actually roll a bit faster. Having said that, it’s actually hard to tell where fairways end and rough begin because, well, it’s all pretty rough. Clumps of weeds and cracked hardpan ground litter the space between tee and green. I’m not joking, you see dust fly when your ball hits the fairway. Never liked all the false edges around the green either. It’s not done in a “pinehurst” manner it’s more of a homemade look if anything. I just can’t see myself ever going back unless this place does a complete 180. I wish I could use lack of rain as an excuse but no other course in this area is this poorly conditioned. Save your money and go somewhere else if you can.
Cracks should be hazards
It looks as if only the greens on the course have been watered all summer. Huge cracks big enough to lose golf balls in are found everywhere including many fairways. $40 is about twice too expensive for these conditions even on the weekend.
Great Golf Course
Great golf course, windy course, staff was really friendly but never seen the golf cart girl the whole 18 holes.
Allowed 5-somes without Marshal
Allowed 5 people to play in a group and did not have marshal to push people to play faster. Course was hard to figure out with signs showing you where to go. Not to mention cracks in fairway that a golf did fit in.. Granted its Texas in July.
Too many golfers
I usually like this course because it's close, cheap and it's always a relaxing time. Never had a bad experience outside my own playing abilities.
However, 5 1/2 hours to play 14 holes as a single? There was a ton of people on the course. There should really be a cut off or tee times specific and if that many people.
Still a 3 star for me because it's close and not expensive.
I liked most of the layout of the holes. Some trouble on some of the holes. iIf you know where the trouble is ahead of time you would be alright. You can mis-hit and still be alright most of the time. It was over 100° when we played, so we could play at our own pace.I enjoyed the course and will play it again.
Sub par
Coming from out of town and playing courses around the Dallas area for the weekend this one was a bit disappointing. Fairways were like hitting off of concrete. Tee boxes were very dry and hard to get a tee into the ground, very dry ground. Course has absolutely no water jugs anywhere on the course “due to Covid”. So bring water before you come.
Hard knocks
Very hard ground, dry fairways and greens. Back 9 is good for scoring
Awesome
As always Stone River was a great day of golf. The course is in excellent condition! Greens are far improved!
Good course
Greens are little slow but it is a good course for the money... Come play here your will like it
