Stone River Golf Club
About
Previously known as Aaki Ranch International Golf Course, Stone River Golf Club is a basic, homemade 18-hole track that opened in 1997, featuring rolling Bermuda pastures, manmade lakes, and young trees. Playing only 6,487 yards from the tips with minimal trees lining the fairways, you’ll be able to swing hard and let it rip.
Getting there : From Dallas, head east on I-30 for about 25 miles to exit 77B (FM35). Turn right at the stop onto FM 35, then continue about 1 mile. Turn right onto FM 2453 and drive another .5 miles. The golf course is on your right

Pace of play always excellent here
Always enjoy playing here… tee box/fairway grass is a little scarce but playable…. Good place to get in a quick round
Starter needed
I would love to see this course have a starter or enforce starting times. As soon as we Teed off the group behind us went causing them to be right behind us feeling rushed the entire time. There was a group in front of us so we did not have them play through as we were already waiting on them. We cleared 9 and got lunch so they could pass us, only to have a solo golfer on our butts the entire back 9 once again feeling rushed. My girlfriend picked up most of her swings because she felt rushed. Greens were in decent conditions, for the price the course it in good condition.
Double booked
They double booked a bunch of tee times. They blamed it on golf now. Who knows.
A Real Life Goat Farm!
Yes! They even have the goats to prove it!
You have to do more than paint the greens green. Now I have green golf balls!
You should water the course, even in the winter. You should put down a green winter grass on the tee boxes and fairways. Signage: More than once we just got lost trying to find out where the next hole was. Did I mention that they do not allow drivers on the driving range? Don't attempt to find it on your own, because you never will. Ask for directions and get your GPS fired up, because you will need it.
I hope this course survives, but I don't see how. These were the roughest conditions I have played in about ten years. That was when I played Los Rios in Plano and Oak Hollow in McKinney. Now I have a third course that has been scratched off my list.
Poor couse
5.5 hrs to play 18 is unacceptable. Extremely slow pace. Tee time was 11:07, didn't tee off til 11:30ish, finished little after 5. Cart girl was super sweet, but needed two bc course was too busy.
Hidden Gem
A hidden gem in Royse city. Large greens wide open fairways and a few really challenging holes on the back 9.
Not worth the $18 I paid
I’ve played this course several times over the past year and overall have had a good experience. Today however was one of the worst I have had and it feels like the $18 I paid was overpriced. The fairways are like concrete, the pace of play was horrible and the greens keeper put pins literally on the edges of huge slopes, making the dry and fast greens just unenjoyable to play. I live in Rockwall and have found this to be a good deal for the quickness of play and overall course but after today, I don’t think I’ll be back!
Tough Greens!
Nice course overall. Fairly forgiving course except for a handful of holes that are tougher especially if you don’t know the layout. Greens were in great shape; they just rolled slow all day. Friendly staff.
Doug’s review
It’s not the best course around DFW but it is very convenient and the greens are nice. No bunkers on the course so you better know how to pitch the ball or bump and run. It’s not a long course but there are a couple of holes that you can get into some serious trouble on. Take your time and plan your next shot.
