Olympia Hills Golf Course
About
Olympia Hills Golf Course is very exciting and enhances San Antonio's reputation as a golf destination. A unique combination of natural topography and man-made mounds and bunkers make this a super course. Native South Texas vegetation and golf course grass seed formulations on fairways and greens will provide state-of-the-game playing surfaces. The views are spectacular, with several holes playing to greens well below the tees, while other lead to a significant rise to reach the putting surface. Fairways, which on some holes are tight, are often sloped and guarded by bunkers. The tips will not be played by the faint hearted, but with four sets of tee boxes, the course can be enjoyed by all levels of players.

Nasty greens
Like the layout, fairways are ok. Greens are nasty. poor poor condition. dead cover with bumpy patches all over. almost feels like the course has just given up on them.
Greens
The greens are terrible……get them better and would play there often
Greens
The greens are in really bad condition. Don’t know how long until they are back to normal.
Greens? Not so much...
The course was about what I expected in terms of difficulty and layout with the VERY large exception of the greens. They were horrendous. Mostly brown dead grass, several had huge potholes and they were just poorly manicured. It was nearly impossible to putt with any remote degree of accuracy outside of 15 feet because of the bumpiness and overall condition. I was very disappointed in the condition of the greens, but aside from that, it was decent course that I would like to play again.
Young staff
We had an issue with players behind us repeatedly hitting the balls before we moved up and balls came by us several times. Called the clubhouse and let them know and they sent a Marshall out that was young 20’s that did not know how to handle an escalated situation.
Greens Terrible
The greens were sand and spotty crab grass and the pace of play was 6 hour round. Fairways were in excellent shape and staff was very pleasant. Didn’t want to make all bad comments
Olympia Spills!!!
Okay Peeps, This used to be one of my favorite courses. Not anymore. This course has bottomed out. Our round of golf took 5 hours and 34 minutes. Seriously!! The starter seemed incompetent and the marshal was indifferent. There was a group of 7 on Hole 6....A GROUP OF SEVEN......SEVEN!!!!!! The greens were brown with bad patches throughout. I was just disappointed overall. It pains me to write this review, because I love this course....but dang! Completely unacceptable. The only bright spot was the Cart Girl... she was a delight despite the crappy, 5 plus hour experience.
Awful experience there today, 16 April. Took almost 5:45 minutes to play 18. The Marshalls did nothing to speed up play and just made excuses to justify it. There were multiple groups of 6 as well as a group of seven. Additionally, the greens were all brown with a lot of bare spots and weeds….by far the worst in the area. To make matters worse and add to the slow play, multiple groups had their carts breaking down. I know there just trying to make money, but they are sending people out way to close to each other and that is causing the back ups. I’ve been playing this course for years, used to be one of my favorite, however play gets slower and slower each time and course condition gets worse and worse.
In poor shape!!
Olympia Hills has really fallen in its course shape. Almost every green has fungus that left many areas sparse. In some cases we were putting on dirt. None of the greens allowed the ball to roll steady. In addition so much of the fairways were overwatered and soggy which made for a really muddy day. I have played Olympia for 20 years but won’t go back until they rework the course. Please avoid in 2023 as the greens will not rebound all season. Not worth the money. The city courses are in better shape.
Great potential
The course was overran by 20+ handicappers, super slow pace of play and severe backups on every par 3 and 5. Love the layout, but in desperate need for water and reseeding in several places. Greens were furry and torn up
Wonderful golf course
Despite having difficulties getting the greens back in shape, this is a fantastic course. There arevery few houses or roads are that distract you from playing. There is a lot of wildlife to enjoy.
Overall this is a wonderful course and I know the staff is doing everything they can to make it better. Would highly recommend this course to anyone.
Awful.
The tee boxes and fairways are alright, but the greens are absolutely terrible. I’m fine with sanded greens or greens that will run fast due to a lack of moisture, but they had absolutely no consistency, dead patches all over and weeds are growing through bad. To play this course and be charged over $60 is a disgrace. This place used to be a great course for the money. I hope they get it turned around!
Olympia Conditions
Could be a great course. Due to previous weather the greens were just sand. Hope to play it again when conditions are better.
rough green day
Fairways were recovering from winter, but greens were the worst I've ever been on.
Greens are terrible !!!!!
This is the 4th time I've played the course in the last six weeks. The fairways are filling in nicely but the greens are absolutely terrible. The staff says they aerated and sanded them and they should come back. Maybe some of the greens but not all. They need to re-turf many of the greens and I don't see them being playable anytime soon. The greens are hard and mostly dirt. Wedges roll through the greens and lip-out putts roll away 4-6 feet.
I've always loved the course and staff but don't waste your money this summer. I wanted to ask for my money back but management was already gone for the day when I finished.
Olympia hills
The greens had been aerated the day before. And of course they charge the same price as greens in superb condition.
Challenging and difficult
Moat of the fairways are narrow with very little room for errors. The greens were unpredictable both fast and slow.
