Olympia Hills Golf Course
About
Olympia Hills Golf Course is very exciting and enhances San Antonio's reputation as a golf destination. A unique combination of natural topography and man-made mounds and bunkers make this a super course. Native South Texas vegetation and golf course grass seed formulations on fairways and greens will provide state-of-the-game playing surfaces. The views are spectacular, with several holes playing to greens well below the tees, while other lead to a significant rise to reach the putting surface. Fairways, which on some holes are tight, are often sloped and guarded by bunkers. The tips will not be played by the faint hearted, but with four sets of tee boxes, the course can be enjoyed by all levels of players.

Course was horrid to play on.
Greens were awful! No matter where you placed your ball, it would roll off any directions due to the lack of maintenance throughout the entire course. Nice during the summer time but definitely not maintained for the price at all during the early season.
Goat Farm
The course is in horrible shape, and should not even be on GolfNow, which normally I have had an amazing experience
Unfriendly staff/course booking operations
If you need to book here, don’t use there call line. Their call service employee was very friendly. However, “apparently” their answering service and desk employees on site do not communicate well at all. When we arrive for our tee time, the desk employee was completely rude. He asked us “did you not get the message?… about the “frost” delay?” Becoming very annoyed with the fact of the issue. They had us in the system as he immediately found us when we arrived. He proceeded to tell us that “we’ll it’s because you called our call assistant (as provided via their website). That’s why you didn’t receive a message from us”.
The desk employee resolved the problem but in his own very rude way. It was very obvious that this course or employee knows of this problem considering how fast he was able to “accommodate” the issue.
On top of the tee time delay issue that we were not notified for, the call assistant service did not inform of the weekend spectator rules. When making the reservation, we told the employee that we would have 4 golfers and 2 spectators. He said “ya no problem”. When we arrived at the desk employee for check in, he became increasingly rude about the spectators being with us. Again, solving the issue very quickly as it seems that this is a known issue.
Defining not a happy way to start the day with having an someone who isn’t happy with their own job or life grump about onto other peoples day.
Please consider choosing a better way to handle reservations int the future Olympia Hills.
Golf course greens r in terrible shape. Course layout has a great front nine. Back nine is out in the open. Wouldn’t recommend it on a windy day. Staff was super friendly needs a few months before the fairways and especially the greens r playable.
Course good, greens bad.
Enjoyed the friendly staff and playing the course. The only setback was the freeze must have messes up the greens as they were not in good shape at all.
Very poor condition!
I know it’s the dead of winter but the condition of this course is horrible! Most of the greens, not all, are ridiculous virtually no grass on them. This course has obviously been neglected! They’re are lots of other options in SA for golf, my advice is go somewhere else!
Always love this course.
This has always been one of my favorite courses in S. A. It has a great layout and is a very good value. I have not been able to play for the last 2 years, so I was a bit disappointed with the conditions. Fairways were very beat up and greens had very little grass. I know it’s winter and could be other issues, so I will definitely give them another try as my previous dozen times there were always very good.
Terrible
This course is in horrendous condition. Tee boxes were dirt. Pace of play was extremely slow with a group of 5 in front. No sign of the marshal to speed up play. Greens were a mixture of clover patches and mud. Bunkers seemed nice. The course has a good layout but the conditions and pace of play were terrible.
Course conditions were subpar to say the least! Course will take months to recover from these conditions
Course has a fun layout. The condition is rough after heavy rains and winter conditions. Many fairways had mud with little to no turf. Needs some time and sunshine/ warmth for the turf to heal
Winter Conditions
I played Olympia Hills Golf Course on Monday, February 6, 2023 and the course had dry fairways with greens that had little to no grass on them (made them fast) and the bunkers were inconsistent. Some were hard as rocks and others were nice. But the nice thing about this was the pro shop told you the course was in their winter condition and so you got a slight discount. Still a fun course to play despite the winter conditions. I have played this course many times when the conditions were much better and I know with warmer weather this course will comeback to life. I recommend playing this course when the conditions are better. Its a nice challenging course that can play hard with the winds blowing hard. Happy golfing to you all!
The greens were in really bad shape. Partially due to other players not fixing divot marks, but also looked like a hail storm pumuled it. Small patches of weeds throughout the greens. The remainder of the course was in great shape Always a fun challanging course due to all the elevation changes. Yes i would play this course again. As i have played here before and know how good the greens can be. Helpful tip. Learn hiw to read greens. Everygreen has elevation changes.
Pace of play was excruciating
We tee’d off at 1:15pm and the sun went down at 6:30pm and we had to quit on hole 15. 5 hours of play and still didn’t get to finish our round. No one came to move the groups ahead of us quicker that were slowing down the pace of play. Multiple times, we sat for 15 minutes or more waiting for the group ahead of us while they hit multiple shots each and stood around on the greens talking with each other. Pace of play has become an issue multiple times now.
Great shape for the season
Played in late January with little grass on the greens that would ordinarily be difficult which made some impossible due their steep slop for the average golfer…..not fun.
