ShadowGlen Golf Club
About
Located just 15 minutes northeast of downtown Austin, ShadowGlen Golf Course is considered by locals to be one of the area's hidden gems. At 7,174 yards from the back tees, it is a long, tough course that will test even the most seasoned players. Some consider it to be the most difficult public golf course in Texas. The layout has a links design that is mostly flat but there are a few hilly spots that can cause some trouble, especially the holes that were designed with steep drops. The narrow fairways require accuracy and the well manicured greens play fast and are often bordered by strategically placed bunkers or contoured mounding. There are also water hazards coming into play throughout, including the wandering creek that cuts across the golf course.

Golfer Reviews
4 1/2 hours thru 13 holes
Pace of play was awful. Two holes behind us a guy hit his first hole in one ever… only to leave 3 holes later because it was taking 45 mins a hole. Find somewhere else. Not worth it! Left after the 13th hole
Fun course. Nice layout
First time playing. Found the course to be in good condition. The greens had just been top dressed which made putting challenging. Enjoyed the layout of the course and pace of play was our own pace. Overall very nice and enjoyable day.
Great Staff and beautiful course
I enjoyed the course design and difficulty level!!!
The Pro Shop , grille, and cart staff were great!!!
It was a good experience to enjoy a fully staffed facility!!!
Great views and rustic bridges as well as use of low native areas!!!
I’ll definitely make this a frequent destination!!!
Had a great time at Shadow Glen. I was very impressed with the layout had a good mixture of holes. The condition was slightly sub par for winter golf. The bar and patio setup was excellent overlooking 9 green. If they could improve the conditions, this could be an absolute gem!
Nice course
I am by no means a good golfer, but I really liked this course. The terrain really challenged me and made it a lot more fun. Greens were fast towards the beginning of the round (colder then warmed up) then we’re noticeably slower. Pace of play was not good, we’re backed up by the 3rd hole.

Every time I play this course I am amazed at how terrible tee time spacing seems to be…I will never play here again.
Shadow Glenn, home of the 5 plus hour round.

The first thing I saw when pulling into the car lot was some guy changing his pants in the parking lot. I don't know why. The course has a nice locker room.
The grounds were wet and I'm not sure why because there hadn't been rain for several days. The bunkers were in dreadful condition most with water in them. I considered them unplayable.
The teeing area grass was very long. Mabe recently overseeded?
The greens were in good condition but very slow.
This was a Monday and not busy so even allowing a single to pass through my wife and I finished in less than 4 hours.
The back nine has a very challenging layout. First timers beware. Several unexpected surprises.
Average at nedt
Staff was great.
Course was not maintained like I’ve seen it in the past but mostly because it was wet so the Tee boxes were not cut.
Fairways were a bit bumpy but soft. Greens were nice but kinda slow.
Not worth the $$$
Liked this course a lot a few years ago, would come play fairly often when I was in college. The maintenance was just so poor, greens were slow and bumpy. Some parts of the fairways were bone dry, whereas others were so soaked I had to take relief (this happened multiple times - the course hadn't received much rain recently so idk what the deal was). The bottom line - would not pay $30 to play here, $80 is just robbery.
What was your tee time? I just spoke with groups that played around 10, 11 and 1 and all three groups said that there were no pace of play issues that day. We did have a 30 minute frost delay in the morning but other than that there were no issues that were brought to our attention.
