Heritage Ranch Golf and Country Club
About
Heritage Ranch serves up an especially challenging par 72, 6,988-yard Arthur Hills design that rolls through the oaks and pecans just outside of Fairview. And while it’s part of a gated, active-adult residential community, the course is open to the public and especially fun because it integrates well with the neighborhood. Houses line some fairways, but a fair number of holes provide that natural, rural feel that is always so welcome on a golf course.
While the course is not particularly demanding off the tees, the real challenge at Heritage Ranch comes from the mound-shaped greens. If your irons aren’t dialed in, you’ll be working hard for ups and downs.
No. 1 is a unique opener because it bends left down to a fairway and green that aren’t visible from the tee. Big drives can get close, but the recommended play is to take a long iron and draw it over the hill.
The par 5s on the front are nice holes. No. 3 doglegs right and requires a good tee shot, followed by a relatively easy second shot into a widening fairway toward the hole. The trick is nailing the short iron (almost a blind shot) into the elevated green guarded by bunkers on the front. No. 7 is longer and offers a good chance for birdie, again because of its wide-open nature.
No. 16 is the signature hole: a par 3 masterpiece that plays along a natural spring waterfall. You’ll need to nail a long iron over the valley and avoid the trees that overhang the fairway from the right.
No. 18 is a good finisher–it’s a long par 4 that doglegs left around a few large fairway bunkers, then works its way uphill to an elevated, mound-shaped green surrounded by bunkers. Ups and downs are possible here if you miss the green back left, which is easy to do when you approach with a fairway wood.
Getting there : Only 20 miles northeast of Dallas, take I-75 north to the Stacy Road exit, then turn right and drive to the dead end. The road jogs to the left, then right, and continues as Stacy Road. The entrance is 2 miles down on the left.

This is the nicest course north of Dallas. Amazing layout and design. Great staff and price. Greens were ok, glad they were cut down and should be amazing within a week or two. Highly recommend!!
Give it Two Months and the Greens Should be OK
The greens are in bad shape. It is as if they forgot to cover them during a winter storm. They should be ok by July 4th.
You have to be kidding
It's almost May and the course is not in good shape. The greens are the worst I have seen in the 12 years I have been playing there. They should be offering 1/2 price discounts. The grounds crew ought to be replaced
One of the best public tracks in DFW
Greens probably need another week or two - pretty crusty and bumpy. Great bunkers and fairways. Bermudagrass is coming into season. Tee boxes looked like they needed a mowing, but were ok. Pace was ok - there was a fivesome of drunk 20-somethings holding things up. We finally passed them on #14 after 3:15.
Starter was very friendly and gave us some idea of course volume. Restaurant here is pretty nice but was closed for Easter brunches and lunches. The course itself is one of the best in dfw. Challenging but fair, great layout. I enjoy coming here about 3-4x a year. By early May I think the conditions will be perfect.
Course is in great shape except the greens. This is unusual for heritage ranch as usually they are perfect. Today they were bumpy and portions appeared to be dead. Looking forward to them being back to how they usually are!
Greens are unplayable.
$100 course in poor condition. Fairways were rough, we had to move our ball sometimes up to 15 ft to find an area to hit from and the greens were unplayable. They were doing maintenance on bunkers during our round. The winter was harsh to this course I get it, but don’t charge a premium for a sub par product.
Greens are gone.
Once again, $100 course in poor condition. Course layout was good, Pace of play was good. We had to move our ball around in the fairway to find a decent patch of grass to hit off of on almost every hole, greens were not even playable. Overall course needs a lot of work and the current condition is poor. Definitely not worth $100.
Avoid until later in season
Greens were like concrete w/ visible dirt/mud underneath the surface.. pro shop staff was stuck up, assumingly because its a "country club".. fairways did not seem like grass that would be on a golf course, almost like a cow pasture.. layout is nice, and always heard great things so maybe the course is better later in the season.. either that or maintenance has fallen off a cliff.. Definitely not worth the exorbitant fees that are currently in place
Great Value!
Solid layout, greens were extremely firm (almost as if they haven’t been watered), however played true, and excellent challenge for a player of any level. Definitely will go back!
Great course, but….
Course was in pretty good shape, but some tee boxes and some greens were not ideal, probably because of recent weather conditions. Can’t wait to see what it’s like when the fairways are greener.
Very nice course overall!
In good shape for this time of year and sand traps are done well.
Soft, true, quick greens
This course is awesome. Incredible value. Playing in Texas, I’m used to rock hard greens that don’t allow you to stop the ball. This course is not that. Greens were soft and the ball stopped on a dime. I felt like a pro out there. Huge boost to confidence. The course is open and great for players of all skill level.
Pace of play could have been better for a Tuesday. There were 3 consecutive 1some’s in front of us that slowed the pace a bit. Not incredibly inconvenient though. The course was beautiful enough to where I didn’t mind taking it all in.
I will be back next week. The value is just too great.
Great Course
Enjoyed the course. The only challenge is that there are houses nearby on some holes so if you slice the ball , beware of breaking windows. Otherwise it's a great experience.
Many bunkers under repair & poor drainage after rain
We started early after a heavy rain overnight. Fairways were soggy and had many puddles (more like small ponds), so we were limited to cart path only. On the fifth hole, the starter drove up as we were teeing off and told us that holes 5 & 6 are closed and hole 7 will be par 3 (instead of 4). No apologies & no offers to compensate. We had to drive backwards to cut over to the temporary 7th tee because the carts would lock up when we got off the cart path. On the back 9, many of the fairway bunkers were under repair and unplayable.
