Heritage Ranch Golf and Country Club
About
Heritage Ranch serves up an especially challenging par 72, 6,988-yard Arthur Hills design that rolls through the oaks and pecans just outside of Fairview. And while it’s part of a gated, active-adult residential community, the course is open to the public and especially fun because it integrates well with the neighborhood. Houses line some fairways, but a fair number of holes provide that natural, rural feel that is always so welcome on a golf course.
While the course is not particularly demanding off the tees, the real challenge at Heritage Ranch comes from the mound-shaped greens. If your irons aren’t dialed in, you’ll be working hard for ups and downs.
No. 1 is a unique opener because it bends left down to a fairway and green that aren’t visible from the tee. Big drives can get close, but the recommended play is to take a long iron and draw it over the hill.
The par 5s on the front are nice holes. No. 3 doglegs right and requires a good tee shot, followed by a relatively easy second shot into a widening fairway toward the hole. The trick is nailing the short iron (almost a blind shot) into the elevated green guarded by bunkers on the front. No. 7 is longer and offers a good chance for birdie, again because of its wide-open nature.
No. 16 is the signature hole: a par 3 masterpiece that plays along a natural spring waterfall. You’ll need to nail a long iron over the valley and avoid the trees that overhang the fairway from the right.
No. 18 is a good finisher–it’s a long par 4 that doglegs left around a few large fairway bunkers, then works its way uphill to an elevated, mound-shaped green surrounded by bunkers. Ups and downs are possible here if you miss the green back left, which is easy to do when you approach with a fairway wood.
Getting there : Only 20 miles northeast of Dallas, take I-75 north to the Stacy Road exit, then turn right and drive to the dead end. The road jogs to the left, then right, and continues as Stacy Road. The entrance is 2 miles down on the left.

Fun course for shotmaking
Course is in great shape. Greens held and rolled well, slightly fast. Only complaint is the condition of the bunkers, they needs some TLC. They are playable but really firm sand. Love the course layout and the use of the terrain and elevation changes.

Golf on a hot day
We played Heritage Ranch ,Monday Aug 30.
Tee off was 12. The course is beautiful with a number of long fairways and challenging holes. When you hit them straight and in the middles , most golf courses are easy.
However, today none of us 4, played well.
I do love the wide open fairways and hilly course. That is enjoyable. Greens were very fast and challenging.
Overall, i highly recommend this course. I hope to plat it more often.
Nice Course ruined by the Staff
2nd time to play this course. The first time was back in Feb when it was a bit cold but I loved the course layout and was eager to play it when it was all greened up and a tad warmer.
Fast forward to this morning and everything started off great (minus our tee shots LOL) but about 5 holes in we started getting pestered by the automatic GPS message saying we were too slow. Funny thing was, our actual Cart GPS only showed 5 min behind and we could always see the group ahead of us. No biggie, we just kept the foursome moving.
We get to the turn and the Marshal yelled "that front nine took 2.5 hrs" we just rolled by and told him we appreciate the feedback and we will speed it up.
We thought that we were good...until we got to the 12th. We pull up to the tee and some young, cocky guy comes rolling up right behind us. So, we ask if he's joining us or wanting to play through. He is very rude and arrogant and says "Where is Jeremy?". There is no Jeremy in our group so we again ask if he would like to play through. He says "NO...I work here and I came to tell you to speed up play!". We just laughed him off and proceeded to take our tee shots. He storms off. This was very unprofessional and the last straw. If he would have professionally approached us and explained his concerns with our pace, we would have been more than happy to treat him with respect, but he chose another approach.
That was it for us. Nice course layout but the very grumpy Marshall and this cocky kid really soured the experience. We play some very nice exclusive clubs around DFW and never get treated this way. Save your money and go to where the course appreciates your money.
Very good course
Course is well kept. Greens are rolling smooth and the course is in great shape. Back nine plays very slow, but worth the discount afternoon pricing. I feel this course is actually worth the money spent
Flawless
Tour pros would have a hard time complaining about this golf course… Turf is in perfect condition, rough for penalize you, and the greens are quick and true…
Great course
Started at 4, course was in great shape and the greens were great. Only issue was beverage cart only came by once right after we started and they were done for the night by 4:45 ona Saturday. Got stuck behind a very slow 2 some and didn’t see a Marshall once we left the first tee, so pace of play was bad for this nice of a course.
The course was in good condition
The course is in good condition. The fairways are in great shape. The greens seemed to have been punched recently but did roll good. The pace of play was nice, about 3 1/2 hr round for our group of 3.
Great round of golf would play again
Course was very nice, wasn’t a fan of having to share a cart with a stranger but he and I got along great; would prefer to have had my own cart. Greens were pristine, fairways were in great shape. They maintain them well. Staff was extremely friendly would definitely play here again in the future.
