Heritage Ranch Golf and Country Club
About
Heritage Ranch serves up an especially challenging par 72, 6,988-yard Arthur Hills design that rolls through the oaks and pecans just outside of Fairview. And while it’s part of a gated, active-adult residential community, the course is open to the public and especially fun because it integrates well with the neighborhood. Houses line some fairways, but a fair number of holes provide that natural, rural feel that is always so welcome on a golf course.
While the course is not particularly demanding off the tees, the real challenge at Heritage Ranch comes from the mound-shaped greens. If your irons aren’t dialed in, you’ll be working hard for ups and downs.
No. 1 is a unique opener because it bends left down to a fairway and green that aren’t visible from the tee. Big drives can get close, but the recommended play is to take a long iron and draw it over the hill.
The par 5s on the front are nice holes. No. 3 doglegs right and requires a good tee shot, followed by a relatively easy second shot into a widening fairway toward the hole. The trick is nailing the short iron (almost a blind shot) into the elevated green guarded by bunkers on the front. No. 7 is longer and offers a good chance for birdie, again because of its wide-open nature.
No. 16 is the signature hole: a par 3 masterpiece that plays along a natural spring waterfall. You’ll need to nail a long iron over the valley and avoid the trees that overhang the fairway from the right.
No. 18 is a good finisher–it’s a long par 4 that doglegs left around a few large fairway bunkers, then works its way uphill to an elevated, mound-shaped green surrounded by bunkers. Ups and downs are possible here if you miss the green back left, which is easy to do when you approach with a fairway wood.
Getting there : Only 20 miles northeast of Dallas, take I-75 north to the Stacy Road exit, then turn right and drive to the dead end. The road jogs to the left, then right, and continues as Stacy Road. The entrance is 2 miles down on the left.

Course was in great shape. Greens were fast. No beverage cart on course.
GREAT COURSE
Do not hesitate to play here. Course was in great shape for Nov. Definitely a do over,
Great conditions
Beautiful course. Great condition fairways and greens even in the heat of summer. Country club feel. Much better than a muni or typical residential course.
Good club house.
Love Heritage Ranch
Great course. Challenging but fair. It’s in great shape right now. It’s always one of my favorites.
True test of golf
Bring your A-game or this course will hurt your ego, as it is very difficult. Teeboxes great, fairways great on almost all holes, greens were near perfect, bunkers were playable. Great course if you can get a good deal. Only complaint was that the rough around the green was horrendously thick when I played there, adding more difficult to the already tough course. Will play here again, awesome layout makes for a lot of fun!
Very enjoyable round
Golf course was in exceptional shape. Layout was very fun and moderately challenging. Staff was very helpful and friendly. This was my first round at Heritage Ranch and definitely will not be the last.
great 7 holes
We got rained out after 7 holes so this review can not be complete. We enjoyed the course. Very nice pro shop and club house. Lots of activity in this club house and community. Really appreciate the pace of play on a holiday weekend. Appreciate so much that they pace the tee off times so we are not on top of each other. The starter was a little rough with everyone but he got the job done. We would return although $49 is the absolute most we would pay. It was a Friday on a holiday weekend so might find lower price during the week.
Great course - would definitely play again
Booked the hot deal, awesome deal for that course.
Great course, great condition, pace of play was good, never got held up.
Staff was friendly, drinks were good.
Only “complaint” is the lobby smelled like a hard boiled egg flatulent. They need to work on that.
All Around Great Course
Even with the 105+ heat index I enjoyed every moment at Heritage Ranch. Staff was friendly from the starter to bartender. The tee boxes were in excellent shape as were the fairways and some of the best greens in DFW area. Played for a hot deal $40 and is well worth much more than that. Will definitely play here every chance I get!
Top 3 public course in north Dallas
Pros: The course is always in perfect condition. The pace of play is also very quick. Even on weekends you can play in <4 hours as a 4some. Layout is challenging and has good variety of tight/short and long/open holes. Lots of places where you need to play 1 shot ahead.
Cons: Range is small if you like a detailed warm up. They also let singles/pairs off a lot which can be frustrating if you get played through a lot as a 4some.
