Heritage Ranch Golf and Country Club
About
Heritage Ranch serves up an especially challenging par 72, 6,988-yard Arthur Hills design that rolls through the oaks and pecans just outside of Fairview. And while it’s part of a gated, active-adult residential community, the course is open to the public and especially fun because it integrates well with the neighborhood. Houses line some fairways, but a fair number of holes provide that natural, rural feel that is always so welcome on a golf course.
While the course is not particularly demanding off the tees, the real challenge at Heritage Ranch comes from the mound-shaped greens. If your irons aren’t dialed in, you’ll be working hard for ups and downs.
No. 1 is a unique opener because it bends left down to a fairway and green that aren’t visible from the tee. Big drives can get close, but the recommended play is to take a long iron and draw it over the hill.
The par 5s on the front are nice holes. No. 3 doglegs right and requires a good tee shot, followed by a relatively easy second shot into a widening fairway toward the hole. The trick is nailing the short iron (almost a blind shot) into the elevated green guarded by bunkers on the front. No. 7 is longer and offers a good chance for birdie, again because of its wide-open nature.
No. 16 is the signature hole: a par 3 masterpiece that plays along a natural spring waterfall. You’ll need to nail a long iron over the valley and avoid the trees that overhang the fairway from the right.
No. 18 is a good finisher–it’s a long par 4 that doglegs left around a few large fairway bunkers, then works its way uphill to an elevated, mound-shaped green surrounded by bunkers. Ups and downs are possible here if you miss the green back left, which is easy to do when you approach with a fairway wood.
Getting there : Only 20 miles northeast of Dallas, take I-75 north to the Stacy Road exit, then turn right and drive to the dead end. The road jogs to the left, then right, and continues as Stacy Road. The entrance is 2 miles down on the left.

The best conditions in the DFW area
I have not played here sense 2002, I just don’t understand why this course can have perfect conditions and other courses can’t keep the greens from burning out. I have told everyone I know that Heritage Ranch is a must play, if you would like to play PGA type conditions. If you have not played you owe it to yourself and your group to play here.
Excellent course and challenging
This course is one of my favorites and the greens are always fast and nice! I will definitely be back!
Great Golf and Price
Playing this course for less than $1/hole is a steal. The course offered excellent lies in the fairway and around the greens which were needed to get close to the pin on the hard and fast greens.
Worst Greens Ever
I will never play this course again until they fix the greens. Worst greens I’ve ever played!
Erratic pace
Pace of play was both painfully slow at times and lightning fast. Warm up area is well laid out and serviceable. The course is a pretty easy one. Fairways receptive. Greens recently aerated but rolling well, considering. No sign of beverage cart service, though we were playing in the heat of the day. Good value for members, apparently, or if you’ve got a coupon.
Greens were aerated but still immaculate from tee to green. Greens are usually fast and rolls true. Great course to play!
Greens need time
Greens were punched, need a couple weeks to come back. Everything else on the course was in great shape. I’ll be back in a couple weeks.
Was not as nice as I was told
The course was a good layout and the staff were very friendly. I was told it was a must play. The greens were good and quick, however, that was about all. Tee boxes needed mowing, the fairways and surrounding areas were extremely dry. Most of the metroplex has had a lot of rain, but this course was dry.
Fun Course
Played right after work and was able to run around the golf course in under 2 hours. Kind of off the beaten path from Dallas but made for a great golf experience. Almost no one on the course at this time. The course is tucked in a retirement community but that doesn't take away from the course or the quality of the views. Greens rolled pretty decently and the layout had plenty of character.
Nice course
Nice course. The greens were in good shape and the fairways were getting greener with the warmer weather. I’ll definitely play here again!
Great course
Love playing this course as it is well maintained and is always in good shape. The reason being it's in a secured neighborhood and is a country club. It's great that the course is open to the public so we get to play these courses without having to pay the fees of being a member. Occasionally as happened on Monday a group of members jumped on the course at #10 so when we made the turn we had 2 new groups ahead of us. All seniors, so it was very slow moving the entire back 9 having to wait at every hole. This made playing time about an hour longer than it should have. We were a 4 some playing 3 different tees and still has to wait. Other than that and the wind it was a great day. Course was in great condition. Next time just wish they would put the members off on #1 instead of #10
Great place to play
Played here after seeing very positive reviews and must say it did not disappoint. Course was still recovering somewhat from very heavy rains earlier in the month but still great place to play. Can't wait to play again this summer and see the course in summer conditions. Greens were very quick but true. Will be back.
Very nice Course for the $
I played Tierra Verde before our conference and this one after our conference.
I would choose this one again - Great finishing holes and super greens
Wet round
This really is only a half review as we were only able to play the back 9 as the front was closed due to flooding from all the rain the area has had. I enjoyed the course a lot, the greens were good and fast even as wet as it was. Can't wait to go back as I heard from a member that the front is better. Good to the grounds crew to have the course in the condition it was in due to the rains.
