Old Brickyard Golf Course
About
Some argue that the tricked-up golf course has no place in today’s game, but they might change their mind after visiting the eclectic Old Brickyard. As the name implies, the course lays out in and around an old brickyard, featuring dramatic elevation changes, blind shots, and some unbelievable, almost impossible holes. This is one you’ll want to play just to say you’ve seen it.
The opening holes are pretty basic as you traverse northward before turning into the meat of the course, where the dramatic elevation changes start wreaking havoc on your club selection. After about the third or fourth hole, every hole seems to have some unique feature.
The Old Brickyard Lake comes into play on holes 9-11, some of the most difficult holes you’ll find anywhere. After you limp homeward suffering near-disasters on the tricky par 3 No. 8, which plays over water and seems to drop about 5 stories, and the demented 9th hole, which features a funky tee shot and challenging approach over water to a difficult green, No. 10 is not a welcome sight. Hole 10 plays from an elevated tee box, with water along the right. Water comes into play on the next two shots as well, since it cuts across the dogleg-right fairway. If you’re struggling, this is a double-digit hole for sure.
There’s no real break after No. 10, either. The 13th requires a precision short iron to a tiered green. More surprises await as you finish the round, so be prepared. The yard is a fun day of golf.
Getting there : Take I-45 south from Dallas to Ferris, then exit 267 and continue down the access road to the entrance on the right.

Very, Very Challenging Hole Photo submitted by fryersroost on 05/08/2013
Challenging course
Very challenging course with several blind tee shots that if your tee shots are not placed in the right spots you can easily go from a birdie to a double bogey.Brought a friend who was very skeptical about the course. He was used to playing the flat courses in fort Worth. He lost 6 balls and quit keeping his score on the back 9.He said he would be back to play the course again.
Course was in decent shape (doesn’t drain well) but pace of play was terrible. It’s also definitely unique compared to other tracks in the area. If you don’t hit a good shot, you will be severely penalized for the most part. Even good shots will penalize you sometimes lol. Challenging but fun track, definitely worth a go.
Course Conditions are EPIC!
From tee box to green the course was in immaculate shape. I've played her 3or4 times over the last few years and I've always enjoyed it. But this past Sunday was spectacular! Tee boxes, fairways and greens were absolutely dialed in! The only bad thing was I couldn't blame the course on my less than stellar score. Play this course, you will not be disappointed!
Great conditions
Awesome staff, super friendly. Course is in great shape, greens are nice!
Overall A++++
A little slow
The pace was slow took 5 hours to play 18. Multiple twosomes that could not move due to pace of p,at of one foursome. No Marshall to tell them to pick up the pace.
Saw cart girl only once and that was on hole 10 after we stopped at the turn.
Only found water at one station and it was a hot no breeze to speak of day.
I did like the course but they need to work on pace and water availability on the course.
Solid course, good value
Course was in good condition. Greens were firm, a little slow, & predictable. Great value. Pace of play was a little slow on the back. Fun course that I will play again.
Best Condition Course I've Played in 4 Months
Not sure who the superintendent is, but Kudos to him. I have played a lot of golf this year and this is the best condition daily fee course in the Dallas area. Paid $30 (senior rate) and I think this is gonna be where I play most of my rounds for the rest of the summer/fall. Greens were good, but the conditions of the fairways and tees considering the drought and heat were outstanding,. Pro shop staff was friendly and played in 3hrs and 45min.
Great Value for the Money
This course is an unknown gem. It is basically in the country south of Dallas, but right on the highway. The course has an interesting layout, where you really don't need a driver off the tee on a lot of par 4's. There is only 1 long par 3, and it is a tough shot over water, but the rest are pretty short with no major hazards. There are 3 short par 5's on the front and only 1, 3 shot, par 5 on the back (#10). #'s 9 & 11 are very similar. They both require a long iron or hybrid off the tee to a fairly narrow and blind landing zone, then a short iron or wedge into the green.
#'s 16-18 are all similar as well, except that #18 has a blind landing area. There really isn't any shade for the tee boxes after #14, so it can get hot if you don't play early.
This is not a bombers course. It requires accuracy more than distance. There are some pretty large elevation changes that make club selection tricky.
You can almost always get a tee time for a weekend round even after most courses are fully booked, so check it out if you can't find a time at another course in the morning on a weekend.
I like the course because it is different and challenging without being unfair, constantly booked solid or too pricey.
I would say all the courses that I’ve played over the past few months, this is definitely my favorite. It’s a fun and tricky place.
Great Experience.
My two sons and I played the course and had a blast. Very friendly people and good conditions considering this heat.
Fun course as always.
Fun course as always. The greens are in excellent condition considering how hot and dry it's been. Only bad thing was the pace of play. Started out at my tee time with a foursome on the green and a twosome in the tee box, then ran into another foursome at the 6th hole. By the time we reached the 10th, there were 14 people on the same hole. 4 on the green, 4 in the fairway, 2 on white tees, 1 on gold tees, me, and then 1 more behind me.
