Old Brickyard Golf Course
About
Some argue that the tricked-up golf course has no place in today’s game, but they might change their mind after visiting the eclectic Old Brickyard. As the name implies, the course lays out in and around an old brickyard, featuring dramatic elevation changes, blind shots, and some unbelievable, almost impossible holes. This is one you’ll want to play just to say you’ve seen it.
The opening holes are pretty basic as you traverse northward before turning into the meat of the course, where the dramatic elevation changes start wreaking havoc on your club selection. After about the third or fourth hole, every hole seems to have some unique feature.
The Old Brickyard Lake comes into play on holes 9-11, some of the most difficult holes you’ll find anywhere. After you limp homeward suffering near-disasters on the tricky par 3 No. 8, which plays over water and seems to drop about 5 stories, and the demented 9th hole, which features a funky tee shot and challenging approach over water to a difficult green, No. 10 is not a welcome sight. Hole 10 plays from an elevated tee box, with water along the right. Water comes into play on the next two shots as well, since it cuts across the dogleg-right fairway. If you’re struggling, this is a double-digit hole for sure.
There’s no real break after No. 10, either. The 13th requires a precision short iron to a tiered green. More surprises await as you finish the round, so be prepared. The yard is a fun day of golf.
Getting there : Take I-45 south from Dallas to Ferris, then exit 267 and continue down the access road to the entrance on the right.

Very, Very Challenging Hole Photo submitted by fryersroost on 05/08/2013
Interesting course to play!
Lots of elevation changes and hidden tee shots which are rare to come across in Texas. I loved the challenge and will be back to play this course!
Good Layout
I enjoy the variety of golf challenges at Old Brickyard.
Early in the round, #2 is blind off the tee with water right on the 2nd shot - staying left is key to success.
#8 is a target par 3 - too far left is lost ball. Same with #9 on the blind tee shot.
#10 makes you think your way around the lake - and it's in play from start to finish. #11 is a skinny par4 with trouble too far left and green out of sight on the tee shot.
I usually hit an iron to keep it in play.
#18 is another blind tee shot with trouble up both sides. Takes an excellent 2nd shot to on in regulation.
This course us a little scruffy around the edges but in good condition where it counts - fairways and greens.
Keep the ball in play and you can shoot a good round here.
Much better condition
Greens are in great shape! Fairways are looking good and there’s some patches needing work around the place including a couple tee boxes but this course is always a good challenging time! Especially 9, 10 & 11
Course is in amazing shape.
The Greens are the best I’ve played in North Texas in 2022. Ball actually sticks when it should and spin on short chips plays a factor. No drinking water on the course though which is dangerous in this Texas heat. Surely there are rules against forcing people to purchase water for $5 as The only option on the course.
Great course
Course is tuff but very nice overall. Greens are fantastic. Better bring your A game
