Old Brickyard Golf Course
About
Some argue that the tricked-up golf course has no place in today’s game, but they might change their mind after visiting the eclectic Old Brickyard. As the name implies, the course lays out in and around an old brickyard, featuring dramatic elevation changes, blind shots, and some unbelievable, almost impossible holes. This is one you’ll want to play just to say you’ve seen it.
The opening holes are pretty basic as you traverse northward before turning into the meat of the course, where the dramatic elevation changes start wreaking havoc on your club selection. After about the third or fourth hole, every hole seems to have some unique feature.
The Old Brickyard Lake comes into play on holes 9-11, some of the most difficult holes you’ll find anywhere. After you limp homeward suffering near-disasters on the tricky par 3 No. 8, which plays over water and seems to drop about 5 stories, and the demented 9th hole, which features a funky tee shot and challenging approach over water to a difficult green, No. 10 is not a welcome sight. Hole 10 plays from an elevated tee box, with water along the right. Water comes into play on the next two shots as well, since it cuts across the dogleg-right fairway. If you’re struggling, this is a double-digit hole for sure.
There’s no real break after No. 10, either. The 13th requires a precision short iron to a tiered green. More surprises await as you finish the round, so be prepared. The yard is a fun day of golf.
Getting there : Take I-45 south from Dallas to Ferris, then exit 267 and continue down the access road to the entrance on the right.

Very, Very Challenging Hole Photo submitted by fryersroost on 05/08/2013
Good Times!!!
You can always count on a great round of golf @ Old Brickyard! Course was in great shape and the greens were very consistent.
Old brickyard
Challenging course ,elevation changes where great.
Good golf course
Was hoping that the pro shop would let me take a rain check for the second nine as the temperature rose up over 105 and I was starting to get heat stroke and stopped after 5 holes, The course is nice, I just couldn’t handle the heat.
Great potential
Being the month of August the course was in decent shape. Improved cart paths are nice to see and hopefully they will update the carts soon as well. The price is a bit high for the overall quality, but with a few updates this could be the most underrated course in the area.
Pretty nice course.
Always interesting to play here. No one is coming around with water or anything. Also this time an oddity; I guess I hit a greenskeeper on a mower with a drive that went left and I didnt see him or where the ball landed. It was at the end of the drive but he made sure to sit there to let me know I hit him but I would think its an occupational hazard.
Continuing to improve
This course is maintaining the excellent conditions through the Tx heat. Not to mention the improvements they’ve been making to the cart paths! My son (5) loves playing here because of how friendly the staff is they make him feel like one of the guys?
Pace of play
I've tried playing here 3 times now and pace of play has been absolutely brutal each time. Groups seem to have no common golf etiquette and play an unbearably slow pace and won't let groups play through. Eventually had to skip holes just to go around them finally. Course has no sort of marshall out on the course helping with pace of play. 4 hours to play 18 as a single because of having to wait 10-15 minutes on each teebox is ridiculous.
Solid course
Kind of a hike if you live north of DFW and currently under some heavy maintenance. However, great pace of play which goes along way with me.
Tough as always
good weather for July in Te s xas, started slow but finished strong with tap in birdie on18
Good ol Brickyard
Course was in great condition. Cart path situation is still under construction, but looks like it will be completed soon. Best value I’ve found in south Dallas.
Not great
The pace of play was horrible. They need to stop booking tee times so close to each other. They could benefit a lot from having an actual marshal come out and speed the pace of play. Won’t come here again.
Slow Pace, Great Course
Every hole is something new: elevated tee boxes, modulating fairway, skinny approaches. Weather was awesome and the views on the front 9 are impressive. You can be aggressive on the Par 3’s and birdie some Par 5’s. Pace was awful though. Still a great value.
Great track
Great variety of doglegs and elevations. Challenging but a lot of fun too. Need to keep it on the fairway because of deep roughs and lots of hazards
Worth the price of admission
Always wanted to stop and play the Brickyard and finally did today. The course was not busy and we got done in under 3:30 which is nice. It is allot of fun to play and greens were nice and pretty fast! The course condition was above the price of admission so I was realistic about what to expect. You do not want to walk this course with all the hills an distance to the tee boxes. It would be a long day !! I will play it again and hit less club off the tee!!
Course management
Waited to post this review until after playing the course twice (2nd time I paid $24.35); my 18-hole score also improved 11 strokes between rounds Not all the holes depicted as having bunkers on the paper scorecard have bunkers; holes 1, 3, & 14 definitely do. I don't recall #6 or #15 having bunkers. Avoid going left on #1. Avoid going short & right on approach to #2 as there is water. Avoid going short & right off the #3 tee as the rough to the left of the trees is deep. The real trouble on #5 is around the green as the fairway ends prematurely; there is a ravine-like area surrounding the green that can punish a flawed approach. You will be approaching an elevated green at #7; water could come into play for a lengthy tee shot too far right for some. It is acceptable to go up to 50 yards long on #8 as there is a lot of land behind the green. There is a narrow entry to the fairway on #9. #12 serves as a stress release after the #8-10 stretch, as a well-placed fade off the elevated tee can roll for a while. It's much better to miss short than long on the downhill approach on to the huge #15 green. The round ends with three par 4s of varying difficulties & lengths; you will be punished slightly more for going right off the tee on #16 & #17 than on #18. Fairways are in good shape.
Great time!!
I was fortunate to have played this course on this magical day!! I made my first every hole in one on hole 6 a par 3. Gilbert Garcia was a witness he was playing with me at the time. Old Brickyard gave me a memory for my lifetime. Thank you again had a wonderful time.
