Old Brickyard Golf Course
About
Some argue that the tricked-up golf course has no place in today’s game, but they might change their mind after visiting the eclectic Old Brickyard. As the name implies, the course lays out in and around an old brickyard, featuring dramatic elevation changes, blind shots, and some unbelievable, almost impossible holes. This is one you’ll want to play just to say you’ve seen it.
The opening holes are pretty basic as you traverse northward before turning into the meat of the course, where the dramatic elevation changes start wreaking havoc on your club selection. After about the third or fourth hole, every hole seems to have some unique feature.
The Old Brickyard Lake comes into play on holes 9-11, some of the most difficult holes you’ll find anywhere. After you limp homeward suffering near-disasters on the tricky par 3 No. 8, which plays over water and seems to drop about 5 stories, and the demented 9th hole, which features a funky tee shot and challenging approach over water to a difficult green, No. 10 is not a welcome sight. Hole 10 plays from an elevated tee box, with water along the right. Water comes into play on the next two shots as well, since it cuts across the dogleg-right fairway. If you’re struggling, this is a double-digit hole for sure.
There’s no real break after No. 10, either. The 13th requires a precision short iron to a tiered green. More surprises await as you finish the round, so be prepared. The yard is a fun day of golf.
Getting there : Take I-45 south from Dallas to Ferris, then exit 267 and continue down the access road to the entrance on the right.

Very, Very Challenging Hole Photo submitted by fryersroost on 05/08/2013
A hidden jewel.
Very picturesque, greens in perfect condition. The layout was very challenging, I wanted to play the course again the next day.
Makes my top three in the Dallas area.
The only downer was they didn’t have hotdogs at the turn. But we will be back.
Very rude staff
Was told driving range was closed at 6:00p.m. On a Saturday. Staff is lazy and customer service is non existent. I will not be back.
Very fun track
This was a great change of pace! Very fun layout that requires you to be able to hit every shot. Greens were surprisingly in really good shape and fast. I estimate them to have been rolling around a 10 or 11. As for bunkers, they are pretty much all unplayable. I WILL be back and I will definitely be able to score a lot better after having played it once before. This course may not be surrounded by mansions and have a high end country club feel, BUT I’m not sure there’s a better value out there right now in the DFW area...
Fun and challenging course, but lacks amenities
The course is full of changes in elevation and scenic views. Very fun to play and great value for fees. Greens and all but a few fairways are in good condition. Cons: no GOS on carts, course map on score card is hard to follow, not all tee boxes have are marked.
Great Course
One of the best courses in the area. The layout will challenge you. There are some straight forward holes and then some that will challenge your shot making abilities. Course was in great shape. Some parts of the cart paths need some attention and not much of a 19th hole but other than that it’s a great value.
Fun Course
Great lay out that will make you use almost every club in your bag. Course is in great shape. Can’t beat this course for the money. Much better than the local country club for sure
This course has fairways that are blind. with hills that obstruct the view making it impossible to know how a particular hole is laid out. Also there are 100+ feet elevation differences to the immediate edge of some fairways .I will not return there.
Terrible slow pace
Front of us were terrible slow pace group which are 5 sum 3 group tournament.
Course staff accepted their reservation.
It was quit disappointed.
Nice Round at Old Brickyard
Played the Old Brickyard yesterday with my group of girls and it was in great shape. The greens and fairways were better than most of the courses we have played this year. I really like the course because it is unlike anything around the area with the undulating fairways and elevations changes that no other courses have. They did have a landslide on hole 6, with all the rain we have had this spring that went over the cart path on part of the hole but you just drive around it to play the hole. I asked in the shop after the round when they we going to fix it and they said just as soon as it quits raining. The gentleman in the pro shop said it has been schedule to be repaired twice but the rain keeps forcing them to cancel and reschedule. I'm sure that is true, my group I play with had to cancel over half of our play days in the last 3 months because of rain or the course is closed because of to much rain. Anyway we had a great time and will return again soon.
Also, a big Thank You to the staff for the cleanliness of the ladies bathroom, it was great!! We can't just go pee around the side of a bush or tree like the men do????
Rough.
WOW this place is a dump and they brag about being the best course in Ellis County....Mudslides, unsafe cart paths. DUMP! Drive 20 minuets north and play a course in Dallas County.
Closed?!?
Booked my tee time on golf now and when I arrived at the course, no one was there! I waited about 20 minutes passed my tee time and still nothing. Cut my losses on my $5.39 and went and played at Country View in Lancaster.
worth the drive
30 min drive....
Biggest complaint is the cart path - none in some places and very bumpy in others.....
The cart i had was so fast - it could tip over if driving recklessly.....
Love the layout....
greens were fast...
Way to go Old Brickyard!!!
Played the Old Brickyard today and it was in great shape. Course conditions were impressive, fairways were above average and the greens were the best that I have played anywhere in Dallas so far this year. Service was good, I saw the beverage cart 3 times during my round and pro shop staff were friendly. Still can't figure out how to play hole 10, its one of the best par 5 in the area and it gets me almost every time...Love the layout with all the elevation changes and hole 5 has a great view of the downtown Dallas skyline.....Thanks for making my Saturday a great day!!!
Brickyard
The course markers were not true today. Hard to get to next hole. I’ve never had this problem before. It’s a challenging course and in the past has been lots of fun
Wasted 40 minute drive...
I NEVER write reviews but I can't help myself. 1) I wasted $25 and 2)Drove 40 minutes from Plano. The previous reviews were highly inaccurate. So let me paint a real picture. If you can imagine a hilly cow pasture with a few flags spread out...this describes Old Brickyard Golf Course. Surprisingly the greens actually roll pretty true but are pretty beat up. This course needs a lot of TLC to be called a golf course.
