Some argue that the tricked-up golf course has no place in today’s game, but they might change their mind after visiting the eclectic Old Brickyard. As the name implies, the course lays out in and around an old brickyard, featuring dramatic elevation changes, blind shots, and some unbelievable, almost impossible holes. This is one you’ll want to play just to say you’ve seen it.
The opening holes are pretty basic as you traverse northward before turning into the meat of the course, where the dramatic elevation changes start wreaking havoc on your club selection. After about the third or fourth hole, every hole seems to have some unique feature.
The Old Brickyard Lake comes into play on holes 9-11, some of the most difficult holes you’ll find anywhere. After you limp homeward suffering near-disasters on the tricky par 3 No. 8, which plays over water and seems to drop about 5 stories, and the demented 9th hole, which features a funky tee shot and challenging approach over water to a difficult green, No. 10 is not a welcome sight. Hole 10 plays from an elevated tee box, with water along the right. Water comes into play on the next two shots as well, since it cuts across the dogleg-right fairway. If you’re struggling, this is a double-digit hole for sure.
There’s no real break after No. 10, either. The 13th requires a precision short iron to a tiered green. More surprises await as you finish the round, so be prepared. The yard is a fun day of golf.
Getting there : Take I-45 south from Dallas to Ferris, then exit 267 and continue down the access road to the entrance on the right.

Perfect day, some good shots some bad, this course gives you nothing easy!
Always great
The Brickyard is always in great condition, no matter the season. Some of the holes are extremely difficult. Always a great value for the price. Will continue to play here.

perfect day for golf and we took advantage of it by playing this tough course well.
Terrible greens!
Used to love this playing this course despite the long commute.
They have a gem that has been neglected.
Greens were in poor shape despite a wet spring.
Tee area poor shape and strewn with broken tees.
Will have to improve for us to come back!
Nice course
I really enjoyed this course for it's challenging holes! The course layout is beautiful and there are many chances to see where your golf game is at! The staff is super friendly and cannot wait until the club restrictions are lifted so I can try the food and the clubhouse. The only thing I would like to see is a few of the greens are in bad condition, almost unplayable! I'd love to see that corrected,but other than that I recommend this golf course and will be bringing my out of town buddies to play here!
Disappointing experience
Before I booked the round I called the course and asked the condition of the course and was told excellent. What a lie. Sand traps had no sand and weeds in them and the greens had very little grass on them.
Brickyard during COVID-19
The course was not in as good of condition as it was the last time we played it, but this may have been partly due to staff reductions during the COVID-19 outbreak. Pace of play was good and the staff was very friendly. The course cart paths need a lot of work, but other than that, it was a very good value for the money.
Cheap course - has potential
Course offered tee boxes with nice open views of the course and interesting hole challenges; however, the course is not well maintained and falls short of potential. Many of the greens are just dried up mud. Sand traps are really just dark clumpy dirt. The carts are in very bad shape, but some were still good. This was my 2nd time playing here, won’t play again till it’s priced closer to its value ~$20. See pictures.

Challenging course with several elevation changes. Great mixture of easy holes and very difficult holes.
Pace of play was great, Enjoyed the round.
