Old Brickyard Golf Course
About
Some argue that the tricked-up golf course has no place in today’s game, but they might change their mind after visiting the eclectic Old Brickyard. As the name implies, the course lays out in and around an old brickyard, featuring dramatic elevation changes, blind shots, and some unbelievable, almost impossible holes. This is one you’ll want to play just to say you’ve seen it.
The opening holes are pretty basic as you traverse northward before turning into the meat of the course, where the dramatic elevation changes start wreaking havoc on your club selection. After about the third or fourth hole, every hole seems to have some unique feature.
The Old Brickyard Lake comes into play on holes 9-11, some of the most difficult holes you’ll find anywhere. After you limp homeward suffering near-disasters on the tricky par 3 No. 8, which plays over water and seems to drop about 5 stories, and the demented 9th hole, which features a funky tee shot and challenging approach over water to a difficult green, No. 10 is not a welcome sight. Hole 10 plays from an elevated tee box, with water along the right. Water comes into play on the next two shots as well, since it cuts across the dogleg-right fairway. If you’re struggling, this is a double-digit hole for sure.
There’s no real break after No. 10, either. The 13th requires a precision short iron to a tiered green. More surprises await as you finish the round, so be prepared. The yard is a fun day of golf.
Getting there : Take I-45 south from Dallas to Ferris, then exit 267 and continue down the access road to the entrance on the right.

Best Public Greens Around
Played the Old Brickyard today with a friend and man is it in great shape. The greens are the best that I have played this year and would put them up against any private courses in the metro-plex for quality. Played in an easy 3 1/2 hours (I know it was a Monday, but still nice). This remains one of my favorite courses to play in Southern Dallas, the staff was friendly, $25 green fee with cart in my opinion is cheap for the quality of course you are getting to play. ( Not gonna get a price like that in North Dallas) My partner said holes 8 thru 12 are some of the most difficult holes in a row he has played in a long time.
Left after 9 holes
My review might be somewhat biased.
I am a competitive golfer and always strive to shoot under par. This is a very easy course to achieve that result. I am 30 years old who routinely drives the ball 300-320 and hits fairly straight. The course plays into my game very well. The elevations are quite interesting and add a fun element to the game. Greens are the best part of this course. They're in Excellent condition.
As I was 2 under going into the first par 5 of the day, I missed my approach shot left of the green on (5)I believe ( roughly 45 ft from the hole) As I walk towards my ball, a guy on the mower comes out of nowhere and chops my ball in half (lol) He didn't know, but still it was quite a shock. all day long I ran into mowers on the front nine. 4 out of the 9 holes I played. Ok, I can deal with that. Here's my problem. The pace of play. It's great if you are 60 and hanging out with your retired buddies and want to play this course. the pace of play is around 15- 20 minutes with no marshal around. I ended my day after 9 holes at Even Par and called it quits.
good
Course was very interesting. Love the change of elevations. Had a 7:34 tee time. Arrived at 6:30 to hit some practice balls. No one there until 10 minutes before 7. Took pro shop attendant almost 30 minutes to get us checked in. Poor service.
blind shots off the tee on many holes
cart path issues and some landscape failures based on erosion from heavy rains need to be addressed but the greens and fairways were very good.
Grumpy 'staff
Difficult course, recent rains have created course maintenance issues. The check In staff needs additional 'welcoming' training...grumpy old man at the counter, sets a negative tone to a potentially great golf experience.
Lots of fun all through the course
I'm by no means a golfer, my handicap hasn't been established yet so I'm at the upper end of the scale for sure. It has been over 5 yrs since I've played the course but it is one of my favorite courses because of the layout and I would think for anyone other than true professionals you would enjoy this course. The person that played with me hadn't played it before but always wanted to he told me and after our match he loved it as well. I'm 61 and he's 58 and we played from the blue and I finished with a 110 and he a 114 but had a blast. Of course God's beautiful day didn't hurt things at all. After we finished I talked to one of the players that were in front of us with scores ranging from 73 to 88 but they play ever week and I think all four are members which let me know how much they enjoy the course. It sounds like we are going to be regulars and thanks GolfNow for what you do.
Fun, short, quirky course
This course has a lot of fun holes, especially the 5 around the old brickyard quarry.
#6 is a fun par 3 that drops 125 feet from tee to green.....as there is a lot of elevation changes at this course, which is a fun feature compared to other courses in the DFW area.
The fairways did have a lot of rough spots....but it is winter technically. The greens were smooth and faster than I thoght they'd be!
Cold morning so no one was really out there....I finished 36 holes in less than 6 hours! My kind of golf when I'm by myself!
Old Brickyard
You do not feel like your are in the DFW area on this course. Elevation changes, blind tee shots and tight fairways make this short course somewhat challenging. Sand traps could use a bit of love. I will play here again. Greens are in great shape.
Great day for golf
Course was in great shape and greens were fast. Really had a great day of golf.
Good Value Fir Your Money
This course is pretty well maintained, and has several different challenges. I enjoyed it, and I will back.
Overpriced
43.00 regular green fee?
32.00 @2:00 in the afternoon?
Ridiculous
Greens at times can be really good
Good place to work on short game. The course is short but for the price good place to practice.
no Tuesday playing
I enjoy the course but I would prefer if I would have been aware there was some kind of senior scramble going on at the time my schedule tee time. Talking to staff I discover this is a weekly event and will definitely won't be going to that course on Tuesday or Thursday morning I wasted half my time there waiting for seniors to tee off before my twosome or have to wait for them to get out of the way.
Fun & Challenging Golf Course
Rained all day, and the course was soggy, but still was fun to play. Elevation changes, with great greens that putted true. Going to go back on a sunny day to enjoy all this course and all it has to offer.
This course has always had good greens
Great greens, great time, looking to play again soon.
Females need not apply.
This is not a female friendly course unless you play from the back tees... I will play here again but will know to expect a horrible score!
Course was over all good condition especially for Texas. Tenth hole is brutal and should have a snowman already on the score card. Many of the holes are blind and hard to read. I recommend a guide if your first time playing or you will end up on 15 vs 5. Bring your own water! Sunday 7:24 tee time and the trash cans were full, water coolers were full from Saturday and no sign of beverage cart.
Great Course Outside of the City
The Old Brickyard is a great challenging course for all levels of players. There are scenic views of downtown Dallas from a couple of tee boxes without the crowds. Undulating fairways and the view from the 10th tee is uncommon in the DFW metroplex. Great food and friendly staff made my one hour commute to this course well worth my time.
Good course for the money.
This is a good course to take friends and family. Fairways were good and greens were good. The cost to play here you can't beat it. I'll come again and again..
Great features and conditions
Highly recommend for the overall value. Great place to play. Will be playing again soon.
disappointed
I dont want to recommend.
Course condition is terrible.
