Hidden gem
Very pleasantly surprised by this course. Exceptionally well maintained,, fun layout, friendly people. Crazy good deal for the price. Will definitely play again!
Good.muni
OK layout, very player friendly. Greens were hard but were in good shape and rolled a good pace. About a 8-9.
Excellent Greens
Definitely a Donald Ross design. Layout is pretty simple - open layout with mostly straight holes - but the greens make it run. Lots of undulation requires shot placement. The greens were punched about a month ago so they were smooth but a bit slow.
Best holes are:
2 (tree in front of green)
4 (water protecting green)
8 (longer dogleg right par 4)
16 (drivable par 4)
Overall great bang for your buck
Booked a afternoon tee time I would say a little over booked but ended up finishing 18 in 4 hours just after 8pm I would love to play again the next time I’m down that way greens where perfect fast and tricky
Almost ready - roll the greens
The greens were aerated a month ago but still have deep bumps. They are much in need of being rolled. The greens are relatively small and typical Donald Ross "inverted saucer" design. They have moderate undulations, so with the greens still being bumpy it wasn't easy to score well.
We had a very nice day and grouped with a father/son pair. The son played from the back tees, and though I had played this course many times this was the first that I really noticed how some of those back tees were placed very close to previous greens, so we had to be watchful to avoid being hit. Unfortunately that happened twice. The property isn't all that extensive so it appears that Ross didn't have a lot of latitude to get better separation between greens and tees and still get the desired overall course length.
The weather was near perfect and the pace of play was excellent. So overall we had a great time.
Good day on the links
The greens are still a tad slow from the punch about three weeks ago. They should be back to normal in about a week or so. The rest of the golf course is in really good shape. Our group really enjoyed the day. Piece of play it was pretty good.
All good except the greens
They punched them recently, maybe a week to 10 days ago. They should be good in one more week, if they cut them. Rest of the course is great, it’s a true DR. Putt instead of chip is the way to play here.
Speed of play outstanding
The course had been recently airaided still fun time
