About
Opened in 1969, the Country Club at Silver Springs Shores has been host to a variety of mini-tour and U.S. Open Section qualifying events. It is known for having some of the fastest and most severe greens in the area. Desmond Muirhead, a longtime associate of Jack Nicklaus, designed the golf course, giving it a different character on the front and back nines. The first half of the golf course is a traditional parkland layout that mixes native trees and wide-open meadows. The back nine is a true Florida-style golf course with water coming into play on six holes. Country Club at Silver Springs Shores finishes with one of its toughest water holes, a par 5 starts with an intimidating tee shot past a massive lake that wraps around the landing area. Many locals consider Silver Springs Shores to be one of the best public golf courses in the Ocala area.

Still a great value for an aging course.
Have played this course many times always enjoy it. The last time I played it before this time, it was in really good shape. This time the fairways are very, very thin on grass lots of bare spots..
It slays me that of course with Very good bones is being neglected. No bathrooms on the course and the cart paths are atrocious.
Great layout great greens very good bunkers it’s a shame to watch a gem like this deteriorate
Conditions have really deteriorated
I love the layout, but course conditions has really went down hill since last year
Truly enjoy this course
It’s been a couple years since playing this course. Tee to green the course is in really nice shape. I love the layout as some thought is required on tee and approach shots. I definitely recommend this course with the exception of the cart paths appear to be under or need of repair and the bathrooms on the front and back nine are horrendous.
Rough around the edges
The course was nice to play and in pretty good shape compared to everything else. It probably was a great course in past years. The cart path was awful, you didn't need a 4x4 but bring your kidney belt because it's rough. The clubhouse is also in need of attention. All in all the price was good and we enjoyed playing. I recommend you try it.
Great course with an awesome layout.
I have played this course numerous times the conditions are really really good. However, it is sad to see the cartpath in such a horrible condition and the bathrooms out on the course are unusable. This would be a five star course if they would just Upgrade their car paths in their bathrooms.
The day we played, the greens were really, really good a few patchy spots to be expected with the storms we’ve had through there the sand traps however we found were unplayable because they upgrading the sand traps with the new sand. Will definitely be back to play this course time and time again just hope the owners read these reviews and will do some upgrades to their carpets and bathrooms.
Great Course to Play
This course is in great condition! Staff is friendly and the clubhouse has great food. The only reason I did not give all 5 stars is that the cart paths are difficult to navigate and there was a tournament we did not know about beforehand, leading us to wait between shots.
Some Storm Damage
The course condition was slightly below my expectations. Cart paths were considerably eroded from hurricane. Fairways were ok. Greens were in decent condition but on the verge of needing help.
As others have said, the bathrooms are disgraceful but there is a sign up that says they are scheduled for upgrades.
Is what it is
The course is good, but getting a little worried about the greens, some of them are getting brown spots that were not there before, if they lose control of the greens this course is done. The club house is in terrible shape but they have good cheap drinks and usually good food, but I don't go there for the clubhouse.
