Don’t expect customer service
We were a bit disappointed when we played this course. We were ok with the course, however, the customer service and courtesy left a lot to be desired. We are not ones to dilly dally around. When at the hole with a contest, one of our people hit the green and we asked what does she do to get her name in for the contest. The Marshall had no idea and literally sat there watching us. Well we did the best we could (and I’m guessing she just donated the money because it was very confusing). Two holes later the Marshall came and said we were behind. Well I guess so since we had no assistance from him which is where we fell behind. Oh and how about the two twosomes behind us? Why not try putting them together and then maybe they wouldn’t be catching us. The person who said previously they were rude was right. Oh and after they cleaned our clubs post game and sat them outside of the cart area, there was no help offered to put them in the cart. Guess they figured they got their tips! I had been it was a good place to eat but none of us had any desire to give them any more money after the experience ce we had. Very disappointing.
Good front nine and idiosyncratic back
Sandhill Crane is a fun little muni that is convenient to much of northern Palm Beach County, situated as it is on the Palm Beach Gardens/West Palm Beach line. The course is a bit of a tale of two nines: the front is sporty and solid, while the back is a bit on the cramped side, with one of the most unfortunate par fives, the zigzag 13th, you'll ever play. Conditions are excellent, though, and the people are wonderfully welcoming - golfers and staff alike. The facility is on the verge of a big upgrade, with the opening of a huge driving range/golfertainment venue and 18-hole par-3 course (plus huge putting course) coming online the first of 2023. I'm excited to return at that point to check the finished product out.
Pig rooting is out of control
I play this course weekly. Over the past few months the areas around the fairways have been destroyed by pig rooting, so if your ball lands on pit root, we take relief to a playable spot. However, last time I played, the infestation of wild pigs and their rooting has now taken over the fairways and slow but surely the entire course is getting destroyed, and the staff hasn't seemed to take any action. This course went from being my favorite course in the Palm Beach county area to just an ok course, and it's all because of the wild pigs. Either eradicate the pig problem, or kiss the golf course goodbye.
Sandhill Crane GC
This course was in great shape, especially considering the fact that we are in the middle of a continuing pandemic. It was challenging, staff was very helpful, My only complaint was the slow speed of the greens, but they had been aerated recently. I would play there again,
Worse managed course in the county
The course conditions are fantastic. The staff from the starter to the cart girl are the rudest around. The management clearly is not aware of the county golf rules as they make them up as they go. If you have less than a foursome don’t bother trying to book because you must pay four a foursome and you have to do it all online. If someone does not show you will not receive a refund. Not sure who taught the managers about customer service but clearly they missed that day of class. If you can get by all this I highly recommend the course.
Rediculous policy
It is incomprehensible that in these times that a golf course will not allow you to bring you own water to drink onto the golf course. I am not talking about beer. Just water. With heat indices around 100, this is very wrong.
Worth the Drive
We are from Vero but wanted to try this course. It was a good day, really HOT, but had an enjoyable day. Course was very nice, a little confusing at times. Liked their GPS/score system....... impressive.
Can't wait to play here again.
Cancellation Policy
We had 8 players 6 prepaid and 2 paid one day prior to play. One of the players had to cancel the day before play and we were able to get a refund. However on the day of play another player had to cancel but we asked not for a refund but for a raincheck since during covit 19 many rules are not strictly enforced but we were denied this request. Many golf courses are willing to bend the rules during these difficult times but apparently not Sandhill Crane.
Players course
Not for the beginner very challenging from back tees and blues, great track and conditions! Good staff and will return !
Course in great shape
Fun tough course. In great shape! They handle the coronavirus crisis extremely well. No touch checking with well cleaned carts. Just wish they had scorecards. GPS coul handle score that is emailedif you put in email address. A ton of fun. 2 played in 3 hours.
Great course
First time playing this course. Greens and fairways are in great shape . The course had been hit with ALOT of rain so rough was high and thick. Course itself had a challenging layout with some tight holes and lots of water.
Due to COVID interactions with the staff were few and the clubhouse was closed. Would like to play again if the rough is cut and able to access the club house.
I'll be back
Best municipal course I have ever played. Long drive from Fort Lauderdale but it's worth it.
Interesting experience
Sandhill Crane is one of the better conditioned courses I have played in South Florida. Greens are fast and very challenging. Par 3's are challenging. A couple of par 5's are too tricked up especially number 13 which is a very poorly designed hole. Course is fairly forgiving off the tee but the 2nd shot usually requires precision. Pace of play was ok. Staff were very good. Overall a worthwhile golfing experience although alittle pricey for the area
Fantastic
Highly recommend this course. Friendly staff with great course conditions.
