Golfer Reviews
Still Bad
Rumors that the owner was finally putting some money back into the course is exaggerated. Bunkers are wildly inconsistent. Tee boxes have wild weeds, spots of bare mess. Pot luck what kind of lie you’ll get for your fairway or rough shot. Greens spotted and turf damaged plus places where green sand thrown down. They should pay you to play there. Beverage cart not stocked, didn’t carry cash and half way house closed. To top it off when my teenager declined the guy cleaning his clubs after 18, the guy said I guess I’ll go broke.
Fairways
The fairways need some attention as lots of weeds and ant hills. Greens were nice.
Delightfully Awesome
First time playing this course, love the challenging hole layout, bunker placement and obstacles kept my game skill in check. Liked the concession bistro by Hole 6, nice touch unexpected and yet a treat. Only caution sign at the tunnel past bistro says “one way” but then the restroom sign says go back which would be two way not one way, but that is minor. Some rough spots in fairways likely weather conditions versus watering. I would play the course again, I’ve overplayed Palm Beach County courses the last two years not much challenge in them anymore.
New management. Great Job
We had been here twice before and as beginners we like not having houses lining the fairways. We always feel that this course is a bit more challenging then we belong on, but we will play best ball or double par so we are never a cause for holding up other golfers.
Yesterday was our first time back in a while and thought it was in much better shape than we remembered. Then stopped at restaurant and it too was nicer than remembered. We found out it was under new management... if you haven't been here in a while, give it another try. We were impressed.
worth while
you can tell that the new owner is making progress with the course from the person I played with. pace of play on the front was horribly slow then the back 9 was fine as the 2 groups left. some spots of the course was rough and then some of the tee boxes. I would play again as it was a good value for the money.
Tee Boxes
Course layout was great. Lots of open room and from the tips I used a lot of the bag while playing which is always fun. The greens rolled nice but the one thing that stuck with me was the condition of the tee boxes, they really hold the course back but they have the greens fees priced appropriately for the overall experience
Course conditions were very poor
We were disappointed in the conditions of Martin Downs. Several tee boxes were lacking grass. The fairways were undefined and the greens had a lot of dead spots.
Their website is very misleading.
