Bay Point Resort - Nicklaus Course
About
Bay Point Golf Club's Nicklaus Course at Sheraton Bay Point Resort is the only Nicklaus Design course in Northwest Florida. The golf course was formerly Lagoon Legend, which had a reputation for being one of the Florida Panhandle's toughest layouts. In 2004, the golf course closed and underwent a major renovation by the Nicklaus Design team. It reopened a year later with rave reviews. The redesign included restructuring the tees, greens, and bunkers and also re-contouring the fairways. The scenic landscape of scrub oaks, towering pines, and saltwater marshes was carefully preserved though. The golf course maintained the challenging aspects of the original but infused a play-ability that makes it accessible to all skill levels. Also like the former course, the new Nicklaus design offers the same stunning views of St. Andrew's Bay. In the fall of 2018, the Nicklaus Course completed a greens conversion to Tif-Eagle Bermuda-grass greens to bring championship greens to a championship course. Bay Point Golf Club has won the Panama City News Herald's "Best of Bay" in 2016, 2017, and 2018. The Nicklaus Course has hosted US Open Local qualifiers and is a home course of the FSU Women's Golf Team and will host their Division 1 Invitational in February of 2020.

No mention of false greens
Should be known that course has root rot on greens and they have false greens with 8inch cups.
Not the course as advertised
Call B4 you book online
Online said "AERATION"....Got there find out they had 18 temporary greens w holes tcut the size of 5 gallon buckets.....didn't even play and almost wasted a day of my vacation
Course Marshall
The course Marshall sat on nearly half of our 18 holes just watching us as if we were doing something wrong. We had never been there before and made our group uncomfortable when we were trying to play and had someone over watching. We did nothing wrong and played all 18 holes. Also they had temporary greens which is understandable but using 8” pipe as the cup is not. Went to signal hill not far away and had a much more pleasant experience.
Good course and layout
Played on temporary greens but knew that going in. For the money it was a good value and nice staff.
Greens were unputtable. Pace of play logjammed quite often.
Not worth anywhere near $130
The course design is great, but for the burnt greens that are ~50% grass, $130 is more than double what should be charged for this course. The ranger asked us to pick up the pace, with no one behind us, even though our foursome finished in a little over three hours. I’ll take my money elsewhere.
Don’t waste your time or money
Great course layout that has all sorts of challenges ruined by the worst greens I have ever played. The green surface is MAYBE 20% grass and the rest is bare mud. The grassy areas are so bumpy and ball marks everywhere. Looks like the pin positions haven’t been moved in months. Save your time and play elsewhere.
Bad greens
Golf course is great, but GN did not say anywhere during my booking that the greens are eat up. And for $130 I would expect the app would have that information available to us so I don’t waste money. I hope it’s fixed by next year
Greens unplayable
I saw a few reviews on here from the last few days about the greens and they are understating when they say horrible. This is embarrassing from a course of this caliber. We played it last year and it was in great shape. Someone dropped the ball and they should be giving discounted rates. I’m easy going and didn’t want to make a stink, but the greens are unplayable. I would not play here for the next 3-6 months. It’s going to take at least that for the greens to recover if they do. They may end up having to replace. I feel bad for the staff, but someone dropped the ball while maintaining these. We may try again next year, I’ll write another review then. The staff said they were going to temp greens starting next week. Good luck to anyone, it’s a shame...clubhouse, grill, staff were beyond excellent...
Greens
Wonderful routing and layout. It's shame the greens have been lost. A little offended that I was not informed of this prior. Also, should be a major fee reduction.
Bad greens
No notice was given on how bad the greens are until I reached the 1st tee, this is not a $139 round of golf. Pro shop could not offer any kind of discount before or after the round.
Do not play till the greens come back
Greens’ Disaster
The greens at Bay Point were a disaster. No mention of this when the tee time was made online. However, the staff did point this out after I paid for four players. Bay Point should be ashamed to charge full price when the greens are in such bad shape.
Nice course. Greens were terrible.
The course itself was beautiful but the greens were terrible. For $140 you would expect everything to be great. The staff was nice and courteous. I’ve definitely played better looking courses for 1/3 the price. Was a good experience though since it was my first time playing this course.
Greens all dying - Severely over priced for horrible green
Fairways were nice and greens were half dead. Price at $130 was outrageous for conditions
Golf course condition
Greens are in terrible shape, and the teeboxs need work. Bunkers have rocks
