Fun layout, pretty rough tee to green, fun crazy slopes on the greens.
Really enjoyed our round. Rough tee to green but we actually felt that was part of the charm. A nice change from our over manicured private course experiences. Loved the old growth trees lining the course. Greens had some crazy slope. Many are sloped front to back so look to bounce your approach shots onto the green rather than pin hunting unless you can launch the ball super high.bunkers we're fine although a number have overhanging edges that our playing partners got under and we're unplayable.
Loved the carts without the roof! A real blast from the past.
Delayed tee time start
We played the day after Thanksgiving and the course was crowed. Our tee time was 12:52 to play 18 holes and we didn't tee off until well after 1pm. We only got to play a couple of holes on the back nine when the sun set and we had to stop.
Great Value
Rancho Maria has a reputation as being in a wind tunnel area. This round was very pleasant until about 2:00 when wind (35mph plus) and rain came in from nowhere! Still, I'd play here again as it's a great value and quite a challenge due to the numerous contours on the greens. I also liked the great practice areas too.
Overall - Nice Place To Play
The staff is excellent: friendly, efficient, and accommodating. No parallel fairways so the chance of getting hit from other tee shots is zero. The most unusual feature at the course is the lack of tops and windshields on the electric carts. On a hot day it is uncomfortable.
Excellent course value!
Steve in the clubhouse is great, and so were everyone else I encountered. It is a nice, local golf course. Highly recommend!
Local only
This is a place for locals, if visiting and you want to play a lumpy course this is for you. From cart paths to fairways its just lumpy and rough. Needs maintenance but it wont happen. Happy to share the greens were actually nice considering. I would not return
Great day to play not much wind pace of play not goods. Pro shop should pair up twosomes
