Pensacola Osceola
Idk what to say about this place. Basically, the maintenance staff is just lazy, and it's always been that way- at least until the Captain's Cup. Now, poa-annua clumps are moving into several of the greens. #9 is already un-puttable. It's a one star golf course and might be a two star on it's best day, but like I said, I've been playing there for many years and still have never seen any member of the maintenance staff ever bust their butts. Just lazy. A few fairways have had some sod thrown down to help out, but it looks like they were in a hurry. Not a quality job. Never is. No pride in their work and it shows.
Winter conditions
Played our round in in 3hrs so that was really nice. Fairways bare and greens alittle weedy but it is March. Love the history of this course and has some unique holes. Have played It before and will play again. Great value
Enjoy winter play
mostly wide open fairways, winter conditions mean difficult lies, but enjoy getting out. Plz bring back ball washers.
Bad condition.
Should have asked for our money back. This place is in terrible condition. Yes, it is February but they had invading grass on most greens, very thin fairways which many times was bare soil, sod on many holes that had gone dormant before it grew in so it left large openings along the cut lines. Don't play this course.
good value for price
Club house attendant probably the worst person for that job, anyone would be better. Course ok for winter conditions. not very crowded the day we played. Good value.
Pretty good track overall
Several fairways under repair, grass was mostly dormant in January. The track overall is pretty decent with lots of variety. Really nice sand in the bunkers. Greens are mostly pretty good, with a few exceptions.
Pace of play....
...not good. Have golfed here a few times as snowbirds. Every time we golf here we wait on almost every hole...due to slow play ahead of us, along with the course allows 5-somes.
Great Course, Great Layout
We are from Indiana. We always make Osceola a destination during our winter vacation on the Gulf Coast. The course plays fast and hard. The greens are tough to putt but we enjoy the challenge.
The staff was friendly and the clubhouse immaculate. We will be back!
Avoid This Course!
I have played many public courses in my life and this one was the absolute worst! The golf carts were old and rickety. The holes were far too close together, making it very dangerous on many holes (the risk of getting hit by someone's not so errant shot was very high). The tee boxes were not maintained, at times making it difficult to have a level stance. The fairways were not maintained well -- there were numerous areas that were completely bald and other areas where sod had been lain but had died from apparent lack of watering. The greens seemed to be an extension of the aprons with not much care being taken to preserve them.
I will never play this course again and recommend that anyone avoid it.
