Durham Lakes Country Club

I am not going to bash this course. It was placed under a golf management company 6 months ago. The staff was friendly and I actually felt sorry for them because they are having difficulty generating traffic to the course. Less traffic=less revenue for improvements. That being said the property condition was known when you took over management.

On the bright side, the greens were in good shape.

Great layout, greens in good shape, but fairways are terrible, so we rolled the ball. #6 needs work, but you have improved on the sand traps. course should cost about $20.00 until they get fairways punched and seeded.

I purchased the green fees with a hot deal symbol and great a great price for Sat. play. Right off the bat the guy at check-in had a attitude against Golf Now. Saying how the rates were too low and how it depreciates the value of the course. I found that far from the truth. We paid $13.00 for 18 holes which sounds like a bargain but in reality thats about what it was worth. Most of the fairways consisted of bare dirt and rocks. The greens were in fair condition as were the tee boxes. The rate of play was excellent only because there were no other players out there which I found unusual for a Saturday afternoon.

Had to wait on a cart for about an hour after my tee time due to not enough carts. Course play great thou.

Greens are great fairway and everywhere else is soaked the sprinkler system is flooding and ruining parts of the course

Initially we were bummed out find it the cart strap for the bag was broken. But as we drove through and hit about the whole seven we came across a graveyard did golf carts. We drove on and continue not around and past several groups of golfers curing their clubs to from hole to hole. Several attempts were made to contact the pro shop with no luck. I had to stop my round and give an older gentleman a ride to the clubhouse to track down another golf cart. Round was inexpensive. So I guess you Get what you pay for.

greens weren't cut or rolled in the morning. Teed off around 9:15. Good pace of play. Impossible to walk. To far between holes. Fairways rough, brown, and burnt out hardpan in some spots although the ground was wet/soggy from some rain. Best to play winter rules until the grass grows back. This is a great layout though and a great value. I'd love to see someone put some money and love into this place.

Seems on the day of play course was short of staff to manage providing carts and running the club house at the same instance. I witnessed golfer depart due to no one available to take reservations.

Some of the fairways were hard and dry. Some of the greens had dead spots. It was late in the afternoon and our golf carts died on the 13th hole. We called the clubhouse to notify them yet no one came to replace them. We saw at least 4 other dead carts on the course. When we finally made it back to the clubhouse carrying our clubs it was close. I have played the course in the past and it was nothing like it is now. Needless to say I won't go back or recommend this course.

I love this course but it's no secret that they are struggling with management. The last two times I played this course, there were cart issues. This time, we were going to be smart and call to verify that there would be carts available for our round. The young lady assured us that she will take two off the inventory for us, so we were looking forward to getting back out and enjoying a round, especially one of the first 70+ degree days in the ATL this year!

Turned the corner in my car and there were about 8 guys in the parking lot...you guessed it-waiting on carts! Spoke to the young lady she put a "sign" on the two carts but she didn't notice that one had a flat tire. She assured us since we had a 1pm tee time and that the first group that went out at 8:30 should be coming in, the wait would be minimum. Since my buddies took the one cart that she had, I walked over to the practice range to hit a few balls. My buddies wound up in the cart barn where about 15 other dead carts were and switched the tire on the cart themselves #my boys are hardcore#!

Since we were already paid, we decided to just tee off and request a discount/free round or something for having to service the cart. No discount, no free round, no sleeve of balls..not even a bottled water! Thanks Durham Lakes.

Too bad because the course under the right management could be one of the best. However, they have a real issue on their hands now. On one hand, you have the customers that turned around and left-with a negative image of the course because of the management #or lack thereof#! And two, you have the customers that stayed and have a deeper sense of the lack of management at the course, who will go to Golfnow and be glad to write a review that will reach other customers.

And by the way, we also rode past about 4 dead carts on the course and had to push 1 out of the line of the tee box. We had no idea how much work we were in for!

Will not go back out there unless I have my walking cart AND there are no other tee times available in the state of Georgia!

The sign on the door read"we are out of carts"! It was more of no working carts. At this point, what could you do, green fees had been paid and its 60 degrees? I was warned that the cart wouldn't last, but 9 holes and someone could bring me a better one after 9, wrong. Finally, I'm at the first tee, greeting by a family of 7 in the middle of the 5 par. Wait time 15 minutes before I was able to tee off. Great drive, I guess the frustration help, 7 Iron into the green. Remember the family of 7, wave me through, one problem, dad left the children in harms way. Let's just say, best shot of the day, baby draw around the small children safely on the green! Hole four, met up with a nice group that requested me to join them, warning shot from a group member, "it's a group of 5 up front, slowing everyone down". Accepted the offer and they where right, group of fivesome holding it down and my day began with a sea of abandon carts from there on in. I think I counted 11, including, you guess it; mines and my playing partners. Bumper cars and many phone call later at 15, a fresh cart arrived. My playing partners decided that we would ask for a green fee for the weekday, wrong again, by the time we did finish, golf shop closed! On purpose I supposed and beat this, as much as I love Golfnow Hotdeals, Sunday rates I'm being told is always $25 dollars, could at least saved a few dollars had I know. About the course, fairways are bare and they are losing the greens. Durham Lakes has hit hard times and customer service is a joke! Stay Away!

This is a beautiful, challenging course. For the price, it is a great deal.

The condition of the course is good. My only complaint is with the golf carts. The carts are in short supply and some are in poor condition. We saw two abandoned carts and we had to walk the last three holes when our cart died.

Ver friendly staff, great deal from Golf Now and the course is in pretty good condition. the bunkers are the only thing needing work.

After the hassle of verifying booking with course....which was nightmare as they didn't like fact I booked through golf now instead of them. They wanted more money then email listed, I refused and after haggling they relented.

Got 2 golf carts and both died before 9th hole. Called and it took 20 min to get new ones. Was concerned as clubhouse manager had underage kids driving extras as well as he in his own cart.

A very tough course but after not being here in 2 years I now remember why. I would avoid until management changes.

On Saturday the 17th Our tee time was for 11:37 we didn’t we started for our round until 12:50 an hour and 10 minutes late. We were told someone booked a 4 some and showed up with 10 people so they didn’t have a cart for us. I thought they would make sure the people that booked tee times would have carts, but not here at Durham Lakes. When we started our round we only got to hole 4 because the cart wasn’t charged. We called the club house and told the manager the cart was not working he said he would come right out. We waited 30 minutes no cart. In the mean time we saw 2 groups pass us by. We called back we were told that again I’m coming to bring you a cart. Still a no show 40 minutes later as 3 more groups passed us by. We tried to call the club house again, this time no answer. We called GOLFNOW they tried to contact the club house and got no answer, they were sent to a 3rd party booking company that could not help. GOLFNOW did refund the booking fee. We finally walked back to the club house as we walked pass people in carts to find out that the club house was locked WE returned to Durham Lakes on Sunday the 18th and were told by the person running the club house that he could not give us a refund on our round, he said we needed to talk to the manager. Wow I will update you on what happens next when I contact the manager. This was the last time I will play this course. I wouldn’t play this place even if it was free.

I had originally stayed away from this course because I had read negative reviews about the neglected bunkers and fairways with the course being bank owned. However, I stopped by the course at the end of November just to see what condition it was in and thought it looked great. Usually the first things to go when a course's budget is cut are the bunkers and greens, but I didn't see one washed out bunker and the greens were in very good shape considering this course is recovering.

Some of my friends and I decided to play a round today and we all agreed we would come back. I was pleasantly surprised that there were very few "cookie-cutter" holes (#3 and #15 being the only ones that come to mind, but those were fun, too) - the vast majority were very original and fun to play. There's also a very exciting closing five hole stretch with water coming into play on each hole but not overcrowding each hole. The only sign that was left from the course being neglected was the thin fairways on some holes.

For the price we got through GolfNow, this was a great deal.

Played DL on a very cold day in November and had played a couple of times before. This was by far the worst shape the fairways and tee boxes had been with a lot of times not having any grass to hit off of even in the middle of the fairway. The greens were still in pretty good shape and ran true. I love the layout of this course and there are definitely some very pretty holes, and some very challenging holes. I hope to go back and play this spring and would imagine it to be one of the best values around if they can get their grass back.

Good layout, but no markings on sprinkler heads, etc. and not even the 150 marker on half the holes. did OK in spite, but mis-clubbed multiple holes not knowing carry, yardeage, etc.
Greens in decent shape - not a bad course for the money. Need something to measure yardage to help you find yardages.
Watch out for rocks around the greens - dinged up my favorite wedge from a tight lie that ended up being a large square rock...

Great course with challenging layout. Greens have been improved and are in great shape. Course has seen it's ups and downs in recent years but is definitely improving and worth playing. Putting this one back in the rotation.
