Governor's Towne Club

This is an excellent golf course design and amazing amenities - clubhouse etc. We unfortunately played it a couple weeks after green aeration, and the greens were in pretty rough shape for the money. Rates should have been discounted due to the current condition. But I would definitely recommend once the greens are healed and we plan to return again for sure under better conditions.

I had a great time at this course. The entire course was in really good shape. The only reason I went 4 instead of 5 stars were the greens. They were extremely soft and pretty slow. Lots of ball marks and debris on the green. But the greens were in good shape, just not as good as I expected for the price. I really enjoyed the layout and it was challenging with places where you could take risks and be aggressive. Overall I would recommend and am likely to play here again.

Really nobody plays it during week days. Like the course.. a bit pricey

Was having a great time with my threesome and young golfer they paired us with. I am an 18 handicapper and the rest of the three were all 5-8 handicappers. So I rode in a single cart because I played forward tees while they played back tees. Everything was great till the 6th hole the when pro or asst pro drove out and asked us to combine carts at the turn because the needed the extra cart. He was just being a douche, he could have given up his cart. At the turn there were 6-8 carts waiting go be cleaned. Again just a douche. Paid over $100 to play and have to put up with that.

This course has every reason to be elite, but they constantly underperform. The greens haven't been right in 15 years, but they keep charging more for greens fees. If you're going pay $70, might as well go to Alpharetta and pay a little more for actual quality.

One of the best courses in the area by far. Highly recommend.

The layout is fun however the greens were very shaggy on a Sunday and my playing partners and I equated it to Velcro.

They just got new carts and they have gps on them except only for the use of the pro shop. There were several times where we were stopped on the cart path in the first seven holes and had to drive in reverse to get by the point. On 7, in front of the tees we got stopped and had to reverse all the way up the hill into the fairway because there was no other way to get by that point.

If you’re going to charge $125 people I think would expect the greens to be faster than a 7-8 on the stump and to have carts that operate properly. If the GPS mapping on them isn’t laid out properly like they are currently then it’s a big drawback because it can severely affect pace of play for the whole course.

Won’t be back for $125 green fees. Plenty of other places that are better value for money.

This is a private coarse that is open to a few GolfNow tee times per day, I paid $125 for a Saturday 13:30 tee time, cart and range balls included. Coarse is immaculate, only a few bad areas on the entire coarse and it’s the kinda place that they are marked GUR and fresh sod growing in. Well bunkered with soft powdery white sand, fairway and greenside bunkers were in play. Fairways were somewhat tight, but very generous low cut rough with tree lined coarse that for the most part was hard to get OB on, though the trees were a lateral punch out.

This is a nice club and nice people except for the professional. When we were checking in he confronted us with " I know you have a bookbag of liquor".

We are all older gentlemen, former D1 golf players, and are member at another private club in the Atlanta area, not young kids. NO ONE IN ARE GROUP DRINKS!!

We were all taken back bye the accusations..

The rest of the staff was great especially the starter!!

If they don't want public play, don't put it on golfnow...

With the right professional this could be a great Club again. Not the best way to entice new potential members, which I would suspect is why there on golfnow..

Like the course. No cart girl that day. Would like more yardage markers
